Great signing. We've probably overpaid around 10m for him, but City did the same for Walker and it worked out very well for them.

Also very sly of Duncan to say specialist fullback so that Lucas Hernandez doesn't get included

Apparently we've agreed to pay 55mil. I'm very happy with this even if i do have question marks over his attacking contribution, out defense should improve to no end with him.

Time to rejoice, no more Ashley Young.

I'm happy with this signing, mostly because I don't have to see Ashley Young fool around the pitch no more.

If they have somebody ahead of him to do the attacking it shouldn't matter. It will be nice to have a RB who can defend.

Wish him all the best. Don’t think he’s worth it, but hopefully he proves me wrong. Think we could have given TFM some game time and with a bit of confidence, wouldn’t have a massively dissimilar player. AWB looks uncomfortable on the ball to me, but I hope that’s down to my limited viewing and he’s actually a lot better.

I am supposed to be delighted have anyone other than Young at RB, yet strangely I am not excited by Wan Bissaka coming in. This has nothing to do with his game in the U-21s.

This is more about his stats going forward. I had heard about a stat going about the amount of assists for fullbacks for title winning sides are surprisingly low; it is more about being solid at the back.

However, I still feel that he is not good on his feet passing the ball (this irritates me the most as we already have one of the worst ball playing back four in the top 6). Further, comparing to Man city's and Liverpool's full backs he is not as good as them.

I am just overall not hopeful and image myself being frustrated that he won't be able to put in crosses, make over laps or pass the ball in the right areas.

He’s a lot better than TFM who lost his place at Palace to him.

He literally overtook TfM at Palace. I think this pure bollocks. TFM couldn't even make the Fulham team last season and they were horrible defensiyely.

Delighted if true. Would have paid 100 million never to see Smashley again

I'm satisfied with this. We'll finally have someone playing at RB who can actually defend properly. Something we've been missing since Neville retired imo. Although i'm not overly convinced of his attacking qualities it will at least provide us with some defensive stability. Bit of a relief really.

I understand why people are annoyed we brought in the best defensive RB in the league.

With our dreadful record at the back we really should have spent the money on a defender that doesn't know how to defend.

Been critical of him, but happy to see this transfer. Did not play that badly against U21 France, showed a good attitude for a attacking fullback going forward and being involved, thats all I can ask for really. Obviously not a finished product, but thats fine, we can develop him to become a class act on our right side defense, and if not, he can always play CB.

Excellent signing if this is official.

Start getting the bits and bobs for Young's testimonial.

Spot on. Ole has already mentioned to the fans to not expect us to challenge next season. He knows we need to develop a team, which these young players are going to do. I can't wait to see him play.

Overpaying by about £20-25m but there's a dearth of good right backs out there. Not sure where else to go considering our scouts are absolutely useless.
