I know this is off topic, but I have to ask this, guys everyone on here, just a quick yes or no:

Steve Bruce, would you say he is in the same league as our other great CBs (I would go further into the past but Adnan's head might blow up if I start mentioning names he's never heard off).

So quick Yes or No, Steve Bruce up there with the Stams/Vidas/Rios of this world?
I'd have Bruce a level below those you mentioned. Stam, Vida, McGrath and Rio were our best center backs bar none. Each one of them fantastic players individually that have proven themselves time after time and were the pinnacle of our domestic success and that in Europe.

Then comes the Bruce, Pallister tier - great on their own but not as complete and as dominant as those you mentioned.

Having said that and considering the defences of today have no doubt Bruce will be a world class CB and one of the best currently.

I feel like the ball is completely in our court with this one and we should say take it or leave it at no more than 40 million if Solskjear really does want a defensive fullback, the player will obviously want to join us and there is no other club that is going to pay even 40 million for him aside from us, City wont want him because of his lack of ability in the ball, Liverpool are sorted, Arsenal are definitely not going to, Spurs didn't even spend a penny last season I highly doubt they are now going to be ok with spending over 40 million for a full back.

Going from Young to AWB is like upgrading from a dodgy rickshaw with a punctured tyre to a full blown Range Rover with all the toys.

Buckle in lads, we're in for a treat. RB has become one of the most important positions on the field in this day and age.

I will be so disappointed if we dont sign him now. Feels almost like the James deal, where you wait for deal agreed news.

I’m a bit surprised that people use his «drible stat» as evidence for his on the ball ability.

Look at Robertson and Trent-Arnold, they tarely ever take-on player. Considering the risk/reward that is probably wise as stealing the ball from a fullback could give a great chance for the other team to counter attack.

It is their passing game that sets these two apart; their crossing, link-up play and vision. Furthermore, their off the ball movement is great. In short, attacking at the highest level is a brain game more than anything.
Maybe on the edge of his own box, but well over the halfway line is a different matter.
He doesn't regularly dribble around his own box by the way.

You have never seem him play have you?

It's on like donkey kong!

 Is there any other club that is such a tease ?

Fantastic signing if it comes to pass. Going from one of the worst right backs to one of the best is going to be such a difference.

I’m happy to see Young replaced but I feel a bit for Dalot. He’s still young and looks to have potential, he won’t improve much on the bench.

He's the best option you could possibly get if you want to start competing with Liverpool and City again.

He played really well last season under a defensively minded manager, so I'll be intrigued to see how he gets on in a more attacking team.

The fee is very high, but he could potentially be your right back for the next ten years? If Liverpool didn't have TAA, Wan Bissaka is the right back I would most want to sign.

I will take it. Walker went for 50m, stones too. Probably overpaid by about 10m but that's the premium for english players.

Just a remote possibility, just a feeling of mine so don’t go overboard, we’ve included Dalot in the deal. I could see Palace accepting big money plus Dalot. Really hope not though.

I highly doubt that.

So do I, but that’s what i’d be doing if in Palace’s position. They are up the creek if they lose both AWB and Zaha without replacements. If Dalot is good enough it’s a very strong negotiating position for them - and Dalot’s position here will likely be worse if AWB arrives.

Would say they sign Aarons.

Just pay them the 60m. He is worth the investment. 21 years old, so you'll get a good decade out of him. He is exactly the kind of player we need to be going for. Young, hungry, talented and a perfect example of a modern day full back. It's a no brainer for me. Maddison, too.

Punctured Rickshaw!! Haha! I couldn’t agree more and I would love it if this lads signs. Only, for the right price because I’m tired of seeing the club over pay.

The club should perhaps be more bothered about getting it's wage structure in place rather than the one time fee. It's okay to overpay for attaining quality but it's criminal to consistently overpay for mediocrity.

He's not worth 60 mill pounds. He had one good season at RB.
And he's way too poor going forward and meh on the ball to be called a modern fullback

For 60m the expectations will be ridiculously high so everything is set up for another major disappointment especially if he ends up not being great offensively.

Hard to have more than one good season when you have only been starting for one season but point taken with the clarification that is was not a good season but a fantastic season. Regarding his skills on the ball I really don't think you have watched him play. It is like there is a collective delusion that because a guy is good defensively he can't be good on the ball which is nonsense frankly. He didn't play a ton of crosses or get loads of assists but then that was not the role he was playing at Palace. He still moves extremely well with the ball and can dribble and beat a guy when needed but mostly he was instructed to play it simple and recycle the ball to the midfield which he did.

Imagine how much Bruce would be worth in this day and age after scoring 20 goals in a season at centre back.

My thing is this. if AWB is who Ole said will fix the giant hole on the right side of our defense, then go buy him. If he is THE GUY, then go buy him. but to dither and jerk around and play games in the bidding process and miss out or have to settle for your 3rd tier target like we have done some in the past is KILLING Us. just pull the trigger. if it works out, then we are sorted at the back right for 5-7 years. if he doesn't we keep searching and sell him and we take a loss. but it is no bigger loss then we have taken parting ways with Moyes, LVG and Jose? just get the players that will help us win, because a WINNING team makes REAL $$$$$$$

Shaw is well overdue an injury having stayed injury free all season last time out

Unfair, he suffered a terrible injury due to a horror tackle and it's not uncommon for players returning from significant injury layoffs to struggle to regain full fitness. Shaw looks to have done that.

He was a bit of a crock before his leg break as well
