So you will believe stories that support your argument, but ignore stories where Palace were asking for £60m and the removal of Zaha’s sell on clause of 25% which could be worth £20m in itself.
That’s called confirmation bias. The reality is no one hear knows what Utd’s first offer was, or what Palace were asking for.
The lad was at the U21s, signing him 2 weeks ago, or a month ago, or even in 2 weeks time makes no difference. There’s no need to bash the club unnecessarily. We have a good player, in a position we desperately needed at a reasonable cost given the current market, his nationality and potential.
There aren’t any negatives here.

Rafael was meant to be the heir to G.Neville, and we spent £19m on a RB last summer.
It is an area that so desperately needed to be improved though. Hopefully AWB is the right man.
Really pleased with this signing. £50m seems about right, he was one of their best players last season so he was never going to come cheap. His salary also seems a bit more reasonable than some of the others we've been brandishing lately. Retaining the Zaha clause is great business from us, that'll provide a sizeable chunk of money when he does eventually leave Palace. Speaking of Zaha, it sounds like Palace won't be entertaining any offers for him now they've sold Wan-Bissaka and Arsenal were very keen on him which is a bonus for us as it stops a rival strengthening.
Wan-Bissaka will be first choice, there's no doubt about that, but I've been wondering where that leaves Dalot. I'd assume he'll be first choice back-up at right back but he also played quite a few games at right wing towards the tail end of the season, where he was admittedly quite good, I wonder if we'll be looking to give him more of a chance there this season, if we still consider Sancho to be unattainable until next year.
If we add another solid center back into the team I'd almost feel confident going into the new season, defensively at least. I'd still like another winger and a midfielder though.

Wan-Bissaka was a winger in youth football until he was brought into a first team training session at full back to make up the numbers. It really annoys me when folk talk about Valencia at right back as if he was a poor stand-in. The man absolutely made the position his own. We have went a total of one season without having a proper right back.
Hopefully, this will shut the moaners & whingers up for the summer. Negotiation requires patience if one is to ensure that we have a reasonably fair deal.

With regards to Dalot, think he'll be a winger. Doesn't look a natural full bak to me and is very poor defensively. As bad as Young was last season, I thought he was defensively better than Dalot. Dalot better going forward and more upside though.
Generally I would prefer an attacking fullback over a defensive one every time.
That said, AWB has looked a quality defender any time I've seen him and it's hard to imagine he won't immediately be a big improvement.
Also, if the fee and wages are as reported then it is a good deal too.

Agreed. I really like what I saw of Dalot going forward, he could beat his man and could really put in a good cross, defensively though he was all over the place and in the Premier League that's just an accident waiting to happen. Quite interested to see how he progresses next year, the kid's definitely got talent.

I am first to look down upon a fullback who cannot attack with flair but I see AWB as a great signing. We are crying out for players who can tackle. Over time either Dalot develops are a great attacking RB or we will dip into the market again to find an attacking RB. We should be addressing the team’s short term and long term needs and I feel this signing is a bit of both.

Just not true. Valencia was appalling the season before last, Young was ok (as a stand in) for half of this season, then clearly ran out of steam, and was poor. The few games Valencia did play in, he didn’t even look like a pro footballer. Valencia’s stint at RB is viewed through rose tinted glasses by some - he was a reasonable short term option, but was never more than a stand in, utterly horrendous going forward, and he would have been shipped out of the club 5 years ago - if only we had bought a RB better than Darmian!
If AWB lives up to half his billing, it will be a revelation to see what a decent full back can bring to the side - something Valencia and Young never gave us and that we have been missing for a decade (aside from some occasional good form from Rafael).

Obviously i do not know the ins and outs but i also read palace from the start asked for 50m. Surely you start your negotiations much higher than 25m and get it done quick. United are in a desperate state, we need players and fast. The more new faces we have on tour, the better prepared we will be. Hopefully we started bruno Fernandes negotiations 3 weeks ago and will land at the 65m thats been quotted for months!

I haven't seen much of AWB as only really watch United but people generally seem pleased so that's positive enough for me, comments suggest he is defensive rather than attacking, do we think this is due to how Crystal Palace set up and could we look to make him more attack minded? Just thinking of all the assists Liverpool got from TAA and Robertson last season they were near the top of the assist table.
His price doesn't overly concern me as there is probably the mark up due to him being English and if he solves our right back problems I will care even less. Also he has league experience as well so another positive about him. Also he will be able to be used for pre season and the tour although wont he get a longer break due to being with the under 21's
Now to fix the CB and midfield issues hope the article posted above about 3 more signings is true.
