I wonder if Dalot will move to RW. He played there a few times last season, might be sharing the position with Young/Mata

Because people think it may have lost you valuable time for other signings to be made? Going by the logic that you're only occupied with one signing at a time though, which is questionable in itself of course...
Which sounds insane, realistically all deals should be being worked in at the same time you'd expect.

I hope this is a sudden rush of activity from us from this point.

Well, I’d genuinely have gone with Dalot as we have a number of other areas we need to improve on and I’m not sure we’ll get them all in.

Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m the kind of person that would happily see us sign a world class player in every position if they fit into the system.

Happy with this deal, but a lot of work to do and no time to celebrate. Who's next?

Great signing, fee is the market rate and hopefully he’s with us for 10 years. Hope we can get another in before preseason.

Good luck with that pea of a brain and Ole as the coach... *sigh*

Had we had a guy like Poch or Pep, then sure. They teach and improve players.
Have a day off you muppet

Get in!!! Wan Bissaka and Young back in his rightful position on the wing we'll be sweet!!!

Just joking!! haha

maybe now Woodward will get off his arse and do more business (given that this one seemed to be the club's priority, feck knows why given the CB mess). but I doubt he will - and looks as if we will miss out on Jack Clarke: if history is anything to go by three years from now we will contact Spurs and offer them a fortune only to be rebuffed...

From what I've seen of him this is a great signing in a position that was a weakness last season with the decline of Valencia / Young.

I've seen a few people worried about his attacking capability but he's absolutely rapid and will be up and down that right side which I can't wait to see. Perhaps he needs to work on his crossing but let's not forget that Evra was an immense attacking force despite not really having the best crossing technique - I'm hoping he can provide a similar attacking threat once his game develops.

It's quite rare that bids are made without them quickly becoming public knowledge when it involves us. We might be in discussion with several clubs but i doubt we've tendered bids for anyone else at this point.

I'm not sure how this works for big football clubs to be honest - e.g. how many persons are legally qualified to bind the club, how many "negotiators" are there? You'd think there would be an employment lawyer present, some financial people, some football people, ... I don't know of what such a team consists in terms of total number of people.

Given all the Bruno Fernandes links though, you'd indeed think that Utd has been active on multiple fronts simultaneously.

Getting one of the best RB's in the league and he is still very young, £50m while keeping the Zaha sell on clause is very good business in the end. I don't get people who are moaning about this..... they would be the first ones crying that Young is our RB next season.

Good day to be a Man United fan. In AWB, Dalot and Shaw we got 3 strong fullback options, if we play +50 games next season, they can each start about 33 games.

Happy enough. Overpaid but who gives a feck. Anything to retire Young.

Can we tell Young his services are no longer required now?
Nah, we still need the cover in case of injuries.

RB: AWB
LB: Shaw

Cover for both RB and LB: Young & Dalot

Next summer I imagine we'll be in for an LB to challenge Shaw if Dalot doesn't manage to, but Laird might have broken through by then.

Darmian still here

I think we will get a CF only if Lukaku is sold. So I'm guessing the three signings mentioned above doesn't include a CF

I hope that is true and we're looking at a CB and two new mids. Both are as critical as RB position.

At fecking last, a signing to a position of serious weakness. I'm lost for words, I wanna cry

No more Ashley Young at RB, that's a cause for celebration

Can't blame if people have forgotten him.

I'm still in disbelief of the fact that we may not see young and definitely not valencia anywhere near fullback next season

For sure!! Young will hopefully now just be used sparingly, to cover for suspensions and rest.

I have a great song for him:
Ooh aah Van Bissaka
Ooh ah Van Bissaka

It needs some work, I admit.

I think this signing is so important for the future. We still need 3-4 signings this summer, but...
  • Dalot will be able to improve defensively for another year while being a better cover for both full-back positions than Young
  • If Dalot becomes a new player defensively after pre-season, Shaw will have to raise his level to keep him out at LB
  • Another year of playing Young regularly would guarantee finishing outside the top4 - turnovers, no attacking threat, free run at defense
  • AWB could play as a RCB and RB while Dalot could play RW/RWB simultaneously depending on formation
  • Replace Young with Sessegnon or someone of that ilk next summer and we won't have to worry about full-backs for over a decade
To spend £67m and £130,000pw on two top quality U21 RBs is shrewd business. Now we just need signings to keep Matic, Lingard and chuckle brothers off the pitch.

Pretty good deal, was expecting to pay more and lose the Zaha clause.

Hopefully the deals flood in now. Especially when 1st July comes around and Inter can sign Lukaku

Great signing. Already a massive upgrade on our current RB with loads of room to improve his game.

Yeah but why do that when you'd get him at the same time regardless?

Only because time is running out, and we seem to work on one deal at a time. Who knows if that’s the case, but we don’t half take our time which is why a few extra weeks could’ve been useful.

Is he reliable? I’m only going off what the BBC have said.

Wouldn’t mind us getting Junior Firpo especially for the quotes prices. Or Tiereny for that matter. Not a position of urgent need but if quality players are moving for bargain prices, wouldn’t hurt to consider them considering we have zero LB cover and have a number of defenders who are only good enough to be bench warmers and so can be sold to make space/ money for a new FB

To think that shit club was trying to remove the 25% sell on clause on a player they paid £6M for and delayed the transfer for weeks.
Goodness me.
