It's weird that fullback now seems to be the strongest part of the squad depth wise.

Don't think anyone was expecting that at the start of the season.

Massive credit to Ten Hag and the coaching staff.

I kinda was. I thought the fullbacks were the strong point of our defence going into last season.

Shaw had poor form coming back from England, probably tired. AWB wasnt as good as the previous seasons. So it didnt turn out that way, but having 1 poor season doesnt mean a poor season every time.

That said when we got a new manager and having lost his place to Dalot, I did expect AWB to be leaving to make room for ETH's own players just due to it being the time for that. I'm glad for AWB that its worked out for him wanting to stay

I didn't really buy into the "he's back" hype in the past few games, but he was absolutely brilliant today. Those few dribbles were Ronaldinho esque, and thought he was good sldefensively except maybe that goal situation but City had few many players to mark there.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Along with his good defensive shift which he already excels at offensively he was great too, lots of good forward passes and passes behind City lines along with few dribbles, combined nicely and was unfazed by the occasion totally. His best United performance ever.

Because Grealish is AWB's man, not Halland. Halland is Varane's man

That's not how it works, you defend a situation like that zonally.

There's lots of little things you could nitpick about the goal, Casemiro tried to win the ball which allowed De Bruyne to cross it in the first place, Shaw should probably be deeper to cut out the ball across the 6 yard box which makes Varane leave Haaland and left AWB with him and perhaps AWB could react a bit quicker once the cross comes in.

Sometimes goals are just well worked and you have to give the opposition credit, no one did anything drastically wrong.

Very good today. Surprisingly good on the ball too. Long may it continue.

ETH's biggest achievement is taking players who looked absolutely lost and clueless under previous managers, and making them valuable assets to the squad.

If you think AWB did well on the goal then by all means go ahead and think that way. It's been a continuous problem with him. But he's getting better. As I said, he was a solid 6-7 out of 10. If you want to get your panites in a twist because of that, then so be it

Played well today, but you could see the players around him don't trust him enough to pass to him in our own half against a team that presses like City. I'm not one of the people who believes he needs to be sold as I think he can continue to improve, but his limitations become more obvious against top quality opposition.

Having said that, defensively he was excellent, both in one-on-one situations and most pleasingly in terms of positioning.

He has been very good since coming back into the team. Fair play to him.

If you had the option of leaving a man unmarked in a 2 v 1 situation, then clearly you would mark Haaland and hope that Grealish whiffs the chance. Not his fault he was left with 2 at the back post.

I don't think it was really anyones fault. If anything it was Rashford that lets KDB make the run into the box but the positioning from our defenders before that cross was fine, it was just a perfect ball.

I have given Wan-Bissaka some major stick but, today, he played well. I was shocked by the composure he showed on the ball at times. He has, so often, been the pressing trigger for opponents. However, today, he showed he can take the ball under pressure and not look like a deer in headlights. Promising.

He's never going to be Dani Alves but he has more capability than he's been showing. Good to see some evidence of that today.

His biggest critic - he was the catalyst for that win, good defensively but the dribbling and desire to move us forward in the second half was so great.

That little spell before he had a shot where he was twisting and turning away from everyone was wild.

Lovely to see.

The entire defence was just on our line due to the way it played out, at that point no one can do anything.

He's only as much to blame as Varane/shaw/DdG there.

Looked to have 1 foot out of the door but fair play he's been brilliant in these past few weeks

One of the best today, though he was probably at fault for City's goal as you'd expect him to follow Grealish.

Sterling is gone but AWB doing well vs City repeats

He's always been good at getting out of tight spaces, I don’t really get the shock from some. We've seen that level of performance from him before.

Think its been incorrectly decided he's rubbish at everything when really his only(although its a big one) real weakness is that he can't pass it further than 20 yard.

Not sure why some people can't get their head around this basic concept.

If Wan-Bissaka was supposed to be marking Grealish and everyone was supposed to be marking a man then Varane and Shaw were equally at fault because they were marking spaces.

Sometimes he just puts a smile on my face. It’s just the way he plays. It’s so awkward and clumsy looking at times but the moments when he turns in to Zidane and the opposition look so confused as to what just happened as he skips away from three players just lightens up my day.

He was great today, that passage of play was just one of those way to go Bissaka moment.

I like him today, I would expect that he would want to move somewhere where he can play regularly if Dalot is the preferred option at RB but he did well recently to warrant him at least a chance to compete for the RB spot for the rest of the season and I am sure as others said, whoever wants him will have to pay good money for him

It's not that they don't trust him, it is that you don't want to play that ball unless you have to. Pressing teams almost always use the pass from center back to fullback as the trigger to press because it is the player with the least passing options. If you can pick out a pass to a midfielder or forward player rather than to your fullback, you absolutely should instead of playing into a fullback who will be closed down. AWB did well in those scenarios he did get the ball today anyway especially given that he did not have as much help in the form of a winger until Anthony started playing over there midway through the second half.

Because Grealish is AWB's man, not Halland. Halland is Varane's man
So he can see a striker free in the 6byard box and he just stands watching him and says ah he's not my man?

You defend inside out. If a man is free you slide in and if the now new free man at the back posts scores so be it. You can allow a free man in the middle.
