RB is still a problem for us after Valencia left and we threw so much money on it, says it all really.

It's worrying that he hasn't developed as a player since joining us, not sure if that's down to him not being good enough or the coaching staff not being good enough. But he's now poor at things he used to well too, I don't know if it's form or just teams knowing how he plays now.

I genuinely think he might be a worse footballer with the ball at his feet then Chris Smalling... And Smalling had to literally run around the ball to do a 180 degree turn.

The worst right back in the league. The new manager will bin him in a heartbeat. For me he’s Ole’s fellaini.

If he was a fantastic all round defensive player then it would be easier to deal with his other limitations. However, while he is fantastic one v one the rest of his defensive game is at a much lower standard. His positioning, awareness of danger from crosses, how inconsistent his running back can be( this is my peak annoyance with him, sometimes he charges back and pulls off miracle blocks, the next time he might stroll with forwards running past him).

The effort put in to track back King for his run down the left was an absolute disgrace.

i just refuse to believe the speed in which he gets back is his top speed. Just a complete ambivalence to getting back with any sort of urgency

He looked a bit better going forwards when VDB came on, as he supported the right hand side well, and was a better out-ball than McT usually is.

But he's still worryingly bad with the ball, and he doesn't make up for it with effort and grit off the ball. He occasionally has a game where it looks like he's making progress, then it goes back to square one. He is painfully inconsistent, and his top level isn't good enough to begin with.

He looks absolutely shattered, but if that is the case then stop running forward as much…use your brain.

Stay back and keep it tight at the back for a few games.

The full defence is all to blame but sometimes they just don’t help themselves.

He was 21 when he joined. Since then his development has been in the hand of amateurs, so i feel that long term this will be money down the drain.

He needed excellent coaching from the moment he arrived here if he was ever to develop into a top fullback because of the limitations he came with, and we've thrown 2 years down the drain.

He had two weeks off and spent the whole match jogging rather than sprinting. Watching him ruin movement and play with Sancho today was infuriating. He's routinely about 2 steps behind where he should be mentally. Doesn't even look bothered anymore. I thought we could make do without Trippier or another RB, but I was very wrong.

He's had international breaks where others haven't.

Not saying that you were alluding to his physical fitness, but he's the last player who should be knackered!

I really hate his aimless soft clearance from somewhere near our own box to somewhere 30 yards away from our own goal. I know he uses this to cover up his poor on the ball ability but it just invites pressure to our defense.

I don't know if it's because Watford have their best players on their left side, but it seems like they're targeting AWB's side almost all game long with high ball. Didn't help that we had aerially the weakest PL center back on his side also  .

This lad has no brains and no work ethic.

His off the pitch antics are testament to that.

The first goal yesterday, it's a shit header, when he should just get a shout to see it out. Then he doesn't follow up on the second ball.

He should be sold. I'd rather have Laird with Williams for cover right back than this clown and that other circus clown Dalot.

If a player decides to head the ball from there, it has to be for a corner kick at least and not just randomly. That was fecking insane what he did

Yeap, stretching for a header like that, you are never going to get the power in it to get it away. But, he does this a lot, making poor clearances into dangerous areas. He needs to get a shout there to see it out or glance it away.

He's been shit, but all that off the field stuff should have seen him dropped altogether. No way should the club allow players to do that kind of shit and still play every week regardless.

I know I probably over analyse things but when I see AWB in matches he comes across as timid and, dare I say it, very shy. This seems to translate into this game as well. Hesitation and lack of confidence is not a good weakness to have in a defender.

Moments within a match can give you glimpses into the player you're watching. AWB meekly congratulates his teammate when they score. Meekly applauds the away fans at the end of the match.

There's no spark or fire about the lad.

And yet.....can we really objectively judge any of our players under the awful coaching of OGS and his staff. Let a new manager come in and let's see what happens then

Didn't Maguire do something similar last season?

I still like that he is with us and hope a coach can get him going, even though the price is not looking worthy.

I'm not sure if he is good enough to start every game - but as a 2nd RB of the squad I love the idea of having Wan Bissaka as an alternative to a gung ho attacking RB.

I like that tactically to have that ability to bring on a slide tackling RB when we need rather than having 2 RB's who play the exact same type of football.

Probably too soon for any sort of compliments but still I'm not the oh let's sell him to Newcastle type.

@GifLord have you got a gif of him trying to "sprint" back to catch King when he ran through from the half way line? Was in the middle of the second half some time.

I think his biggest problem is that he’s not very smart, well that’s being kind, I think he’s a bit of a moron.

Will be interesting to see what the next 'real' manager does with him. Imo he's already achieved the 'weakest point of team' reputation that we used to see with Smalling. Oppositions let him have the ball, funnel it towards him in fact.

I do think there could be a player in there, but if anyone was going to get the best of him it does seem like a 'gently gently' Ole type would have been the kind of character to. I don't see him responding well to harsh criticism.

Given he's got to be nearing the end of his contract, I think RB and DMF are the two crucial signings in the summer.

Has no positional sense whatsoever
Awful at tracking back
Awful at heading
Awful at passing/crossing
Awful at dribbling

But but he can slide tackle well.

Not even worth half the fee we paid for him.

There's a reason there are like 5+ players ahead of him in the England squad.

Didn't Maguire do something similar last season?

I think so.

Occasions like that tell me there is feck all talking and communication n going on back there.

They seem to do it a lot. Bruno's sky kick for the penalty was another one, just pathetic attempts to get the ball away from a danger area.

It's basic awareness on his part though. He needs to know what's behind him, that's a simple glance over his shoulder. Then he knows what he can and can't do.

He should also get a shout from the keeper or another player there that he can either let it go or glance it off away from danger.

This bugs me more than anything else with AWB. At the risk of sounding like an insufferable body language expert, I can’t shake the sense that he lacks the drive needed.

Can't believe a real-life person sanction signing him and Maguire for a combined £135m.

I'm not sure what's worse - if that's him not bothering to sprint back, or that's him actually trying to run as fast as he can...
That looks like the run of a man that is knackered more so than an attempt reaching top speed.
He has had a few of these mind over his period of time here. Just looks so fatigued at times, it’s really strange. I think many were commenting at the end of his first season.

I feel like teams usually target him. Added to that, there’s definitely a sense that when he goes forward the opposing team doesn’t pressure him as much and give him space with the ball since he usually isn’t very threatening.

It would be very very worrying if AWB is knackered 50 minutes into a game just after having a 2 week break!

Essentially he is not good enough and never will be. He’s part of the VERY long list of players bought at top price for very little ‘value’ at that price.

Who'd ever think turn back Valencia would be missed
He was actually a really decent right back for LVG and Jose for a few seasons but then it started to get bad and I think those memories stick in people's minds rather than the good ones.
