He's a good fullback for a defensive team with structure and with no ambitions (like Hodgon's Palace). Our weirdest singing IMO because it doesn't make sense for a big club. I said it then and I say it now: He's not a Man United type of player and hopefully Ethan Laird will come in next season.

He'll be the first one dropped once we get a proper manager in. For once, we'll actually have 11 footballers on the pitch.

Probably Ole worst signing. Not because player is bad but just doesn’t fit our style. Its amazing how Ole signings are exactly opposite to the style he keeps preaching in media that he wants to play.

AWB is at his best when confronted with a 1 vs 1 defending scenario. Beyond that, he actually has no positional awareness, doesn't sniff danger, poses very little attacking threat, can't cross the ball and looks like he's "buffering" when trying to make a decision whilst in possession ☹️

He's equally shite as a full-back, to be fair.

I think it’s harsh, everyone knows his limitations but if you give him a winger to work with he’s a more than adequate full-back. Weirdly you have a £73m right winger he could form a partnership with but he can’t get off the bench half the time.

I felt sorry for Aaron watching that earlier, everyone knows his limitations and he’s being asked to provide your width on the right. Being hung out to dry really, it’s just not his game.

I’ve said he’ll end up back at a Palace type in a few seasons & I reckon he’ll again appear a standout player but his lack of football ability is startling in a better side.

He is like fellaini, effective at certain things, but so not a United fullback or player, yet Ole got rid of fellaini immediately, he is good 1 v 1 but his mo is slide tackle, as a defender in a team that is focused on attacking that is a last resort, his positioning is poor and his contribution to attack is non existent, he is leggy and unbalanced and does not play like is a natural baller that can interchange and play football naturally.

How can a professional footballer (one that cost £50m too) be so bad at football?! ...Zero positional awareness and it's just ridiculous how awkward he is on the ball.

He reminds me of being in school in P.E, the odd kid who you could just tell had literally never kicked a ball before - their clumsy technique and how their whole body contorted as they attempted a wild toe punt hack, normally resulting in falling over.

McTominay / Fred / AWB / Shaw replacements + an young striker.

Again we are in same postion as every year for last 9 years that we need minimum 4 or 5 quality players to improve our team despite spending 1 Billion on transfers. Insane

something is terribly wrong at this club

Ole just doesn’t know what he’s doing or what sort style of play he wants. The buying of players is so scattergun, and that’s because he has only a vague idea of what the team should play like. As long as they’re good players, that’s enough, with no coherence to the overall structure and therefore how they will fit together. There IS no overall, underpinning structure.
Surely to god he’s got to go? You just don’t know what the club will do, though.

Even when we were being linked with him at Palace, there were concerns that he doesn't have enough attacking capabilities.

Most were happy though about spending 50M on him though because he was young and English.

It’s currently at the point where every time he gets the ball, the whole of old trafford quench their buttocks knowing that it’s extremely likely the next few seconds is going to lead to anxiety due to the fact that the highest probability outcome is going to be AWB passing the ball straight back to the opposition any second now. In fact it’s like you can see that he’s thinking in his own head that he knows he’s going to lose it but he should lose it in a way which makes it look like he actually tried something productive. Like attempting to swing in a random cross which has very little chance of finding a team mate. In a nutshell, he is so fecking shit with the ball at his feet. Horrific in fact.

It's been clear what he needs has been a coach that can improve his game which he doesn't have at United, same goes for Mason to reach his top level he'll need better coaching
I'm just not sure he's got it in his locker to improve the way he uses the ball enough. I feel like his technical ceiling isn't much higher than what we're seeing now. He could be coached to be smarter out of possession, tactically and positionally, but I don't think the way he manipulates and uses the ball will improve much from here, if at all.

I think some people expect too much out of fullbacks offensively. TAA is the exception, the others that excel are playing in better systems.
Here, I've found these expectations on the floor and I think they belong to you.

AWB hasn't put in a single useable cross this entire season and he plays nearly every game.

I think people underestimate his biggest flaw, which isn’t passing or crossing. AWB is just not an intelligent footballer, which results in daft situations. Like yesterday, when he barely has a passing alternative ahead of him and space is restricted by city players, and instead of just passing it backwards, which is what Bruno is pointing at, he plays a pass towards a fully covered teammate with nowhere to go and we lose the ball. His positioning is generally shit, but he’ll probably win the vast majority of 1 vs 1s with a sliding tackle so he gets away with it.

Sorry but all this "lack of coaching" and him being poor in attack massively let's him off the hook and absolutely does not excuse how feckin lazy he is.

He just half arses his way through games, jogging everywhere, not closing down, playing hospital passes, bottling 50/50s... His attitude absolutely stinks, above everything else.

Not good enough, in fact he never has been.

Awful on the ball, limited in attack and terrible spacial awareness.

Majority of his diving tackles are due to his poor positioning.

This. I highly doubt he applies himself in training for a coach to be able to significantly improve him.

Reece James is pretty good attacking as well. In fact, Chelsea have given away 2 better right backs than AWB from their academy in Livramento and Lamptey

Just once I would like to see him make a lung bursting run back to defend when he gets caught ahead of the ball.
Not having the ability is excusable. Not giving it your all ever game is not.

He was out on the town the Friday before the Liverpool game (Sunday) . Lost all faith in him once I heard that:

I think he did do this on that offsided goal he made a tackle on.

He doesn't always do it I do agree.

Yep. Forget his diabolical positioning and awkward touch, he just doesn't appear arsed. For a young player still attempting to establish themselves in the top flight that's rather damning. There's such a lack of fire and passion in his game - it makes me pine for the days of Rafael. A dud purchase, in my opinion. No chance he survives if someone like Ten Hag comes in, surely.

I don’t think AWB has 2 good games in a row for about 6 months. I would rather just sell him now than let him stink up the place for years to come. RB is such an important position.
