The red card is ridiculous given how he went in and where it was on the pitch.
The one thing you notice is how some of his passes are completed, but they put the person hes passing to into trouble, because its either at their feet when they need it in front of them, or he under hits it.

Not good today unfortunately.

Dalot needs a run. Put Telles on the right side, who cares if he has to shuffle his feet for a cross. AWB has been cruising without competition because Ole will pick him for every match.

It seems to me he has regressed. I still think he's a good player, though, but if things go on as they do now the right full back position will become a weak link sooner or later.

Has been trying too hard all season, as in, the football isn't flowing (not that it really can with his level of skill). Overthinking things.

I think AWB became anxious at us almost getting Trippier.

Given his recent driving shenanigans, it just seems like he's a child and doesn't have the requisite maturity.

Ole has a lot of work to do with this team.

Best right back in England were the words muttered on here 5 games after signing him. I got pelters for my Unpopular opinion on AWB thread.......

Looks like I was right boys. Our fans get so excited about new signings they make them out to be world beaters. I said from day one I was worried about his complete lack of ability on the ball. He's a terrible footballer who can slide tackle well.

We laughed when City spent big on Stones, and even now when Arsenal spent big on White, yet this is probably the worst of the lot.

Probably.

Depressing watching him at times with the ball at his feet.

I think his first Red for united. Gutted, stupid tackle. What was he thinking? Probably nothing.

Already a weak link. Needs to be upgraded. Trippier would have been great to push him.

May sound abit ya da, but he needs to stop chewing chewing gum all game. He plays like he’s relaxed, he shouldn’t be relaxed he should be giving his all.

Bit lacking of that Spider-Man's flexibility from earlier when he came to the club.

Shit happens, but it killed our game. Needs way more experience than I thought... he looks stiff and sometimes even not in rhythm of the game.

Not sure whether it's being relaxed or just complacent, but I do feel that in "easier" games he starts taking the game for granted.

He needs to give himself a fecking shake. Lazy tackle, lazy passing and quite often switching off.

Unfortunately you could say the exact same about the competition for his place, Dalot.

He wouldn't have pushed him, he'd have replaced him. Trippier is far better and would have improved the team a lot. Right-back is arguably our weakest link, in close competition with DM.

Where is that poster who laughed at me, when I said I would have atleast 10 RBs from epl above this guy ?

I will just repeat, 50m down the drain. One of the costliest flops we ever had.

Agreed. Trippier would have replaced him.

Trippier would have been a good option for games when a more attacking right back is required. Maybe Dalot can be that player now, how many games will AWB be suspended? Those games Dalot could show if he is good enough or not.

Never a red card. Ain't his fault the referee is a twat who wanted his 15 mins of fame.

I'd put a lot before AWB. Sanchez, Veron, di Maria, Depay..

Personally for me that ain’t a red card and some common sense should be shown by refs and Uefa/fifa that sometimes accidents like that will happen. It’s a foul totally but red card seems harsh. Those the new rules we live in now so guess we just have to get used to it.
Must say saw it coming a mile off even before he took that touch. He started last season poor of o recall and by the end looked decent again so hopefully he pulls his fingers out.

Iirc it’s one game plus add-ons for a red card on the CL. The add-ons are if it’s very violent, racism, etc.

For a while he's looked one of the weakest links in the first team and not progressing at all.

50m is a lot of dosh for someone lacking in a lot of areas. He doesn't even seem focused in the matches, his poor control and sluggishness on the ball is a target for other teams.

his red card was a costly mistake, but these things happen.

I am much more worried by his lack of ability on the ball, which is a huge systemic issue and inhibits our build-up play and final third creation game after game after game.
These are not the 90s or even 2008 with wes brown at RB. we cant afford to carry such a liability over the whole season.

It's not like he's Maldini on defense either...

He hasn’t started the season great. The red card was imo fair from the ref and stupid by him, and in the end it cost us the game and could cost us CL. That said, I think there have been so many over reactions on this forum. It’s not like he picks up a red every second match. On the contrary, he’s very clean considering his aggressive style of playing, and this was his first red at Untied and second in his career. It was stupid but some of the criticism I’ve read here is ridiculous.

Not so sure about that just yet. But yes, his been very poor this season. Dalot should get some games now and hopefully he will never look back.
For an attacking side that will go into the majority of games looking to be more on the ball than off it, I just don’t see a player this team can rely on.

Harsh criticism is symptomatic of the limitations of the player than the actual error. Bruno, Shaw, Maguire etc can easily get away with a red card without similar meltdowns.

He was annoying me a lot before the red. I'm not that pushed by the red actually, as you say its uncharacteristic. Its been a slow start to the season (much like last year actually) and hes not a player that cant afford to drop off 100% without looking completely out of his depth.

Seems to me like we have a lot of these "ball playing issues" started with ddg, smalling, Jones, then we signed lulaku, james, now fred, mctom and now AWB. Granted we are now signing players specifically good at it, but seeing many of them are actively regressing in these aspect, i believe this is a coaching issue. Still a stupid tackle.
