Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

aye 1.96gb flv file was the original uploaded file, which was reported to hell.

But cnuts have managed to make a x265 encode and reduced the file size to 266mb to distribute the contraband faster. I am still reporting the shit though.

Why have all of you feck wits ignored the thread title?

How come this thread is supposed to be for book READERS yet morons like @Buchan are throwing out spoilers of leaked episodes even without putting them in spoilers when the title clearly says "AIRED EPISODES ONLY"?

Argh been trying to avoid the spoilers for ep 6 and had it ruined by a bunch of cnuts on FB .

The title clearly suggests discussion and speculation about AIRED EPISODES ONLY. Ffs, why do you guys find it hard to comprehend simple rules.

5 days before the show airs...and with HD versions out...lots of people have already watched or will watch before Sunday night.

It is going to be nearly impossible to avoid spoilers - which is why I reluctantly already watched it.

Same for me, managed to not download a HD copy and then not stream it to my TV.

If everything is in spoilers what's the problem? (not being an arse).

Couldn't a new thread be set up specifically to discuss the leaked episode?

Spoilers are for speculation etc. There should be no discussion in these threads based on leaks. I'll create a new thread.

Yeah I bit the bullet. Enjoyed the ep, although the dialogue is lacking the nuance of previous seasons . We've spent years waiting for some of these reunions and they've been sub par to say the least . Hopefully GRRM gets more involved in the final season to give them a hand. In terms of sheer cinematography it's been fantastic though.

Erm so I've just seen episode 5. Seems there's nowhere to go and discuss it. This fkin place

I'll reopen the TV thread but seeing the state of this thread last night, I'm almost scared to reopen it.

I'm not sure it's fair to say you're closing the TV thread for four days, thereby forcing TV people into this thread, and then completely removing posts that would have otherwise survived in the TV thread that was closed. If there's a huge, bold warning at the top of a post telling people not to open the spoiler tags it contains then it's their own fault if they have something ruined for them. You can't close Park A and then get upset when we move to Park B.

Wasn't your post based on the leaked episode? That certainly wouldn't have been allowed in the tv thread either. In fact you'd likely be banned from that thread for it.

I'm not sure. It's not something there's much of a precedent for considering only one previous episode has leaked. While I'm here, it's worth noting that I was responding to another post about the leaked episode which is still in this thread.

Leaked talk isn't allowed whether in spoilers or not. It's been mentioned in the thread before.

No, other episodes have leaked in the past and we've never been allowed to talk about them in the TV thread and I believe in here either (though I've only recently started reading in here myself). And if you've read the books, or the leaks or anything like that you are likely to be banned from the tv thread anyway with good reason. The problem is that even if you try your hardest to avoid spoiling things, people will still read into your posts so it is best to be safe.

It makes sense and mostly worked. In any case, you were talking about the leaked episode or at least it's consequences and that isn't allowed. Agree or not with the rules, but if you don't follow them then that's really your own fault.

Jesus Christ the mods in this thread rule with an Iron Fist to the same degree that America does with White Supremacists.........

If people break rules, threadban them.

Zero tolerance.

On the other hand : Anyone complaining about reading spoilers by accident... reconsider your choices in life. If it's that important, avoid them. It's not hard. If you have an IQ that allows you to open a web browser you can avoid spoilers.

When did the human race start to need such a high level of hand-holding?

TLDR:
- Mods do your job in this thread
- Civilians do your job everywhere else

 Yeah, I'm sure the mods will appreciate being told what to do 6 years into their 'job' in here!

I'm not critical of the mods to be fair.

Heavy handedness is always criticized. Hence the over the top comparison to the Americans tolerance of Neo Nazis. But sometimes it's needed to save people from themselves.

- The mods should ban more regularly when so many specific rules are laid out.
- 'Civilians' should steer clear of spoilers. It's really not hard. If they can't avoid the places that spoilers are abundant, that's their fault.

Simple systems. Simple solutions.

I don't read the books, so I don't want to moderate this thread. I only got to know about this thread when a person reported what was going in this thread. 6 people were warned, one was threadbanned and all of the posts deleted. You can't expect heavier action than this.

Why do you keep bringing up Americans and Nazis/Supremacists? And why are you telling everyone what is so simple, if it were that simple your first point would be, well, pointless would it not?

By and large the mods have done well to control these two threads, until very recently I've only been in the tv thread and managed to avoid spoilers for 6 seasons. Part of that is down to their efforts, so again I doubt they need you to suddenly show up and arrogantly tell them what they should be doing.

It's Game of Thrones man. If it's not heads on pikes it's just not severe enough.

With all seriousness, a spoiler is threadban worthy considering the rules laid out.

I like this thread. But I don't NEED it. Nor does anyone. Anyone that falls foul of the rules regarding spoilers simply doesn't need to see it again.

Jesus brutha. Calm the farm.

I'm merely stating that zero tolerance is zero tolerance. Warnings are daft when the guidance is so explicitly stated.

I honestly don't care about reading a spoiler for a tv show. I get more bothered about people complaining about spoilers than I do the actual spoilers.

Why are you getting bothered about what other people want? Just because you don't care it doesn't mean others should follow the same line. Spoiling is generally not a positive word.

I do get your point, but it's a bit silly expecting zero tolerance on a forum like this especially 6 years down the line. I do agree though that it's a shame people can't regulate themselves more, both in failing time and again to follow rules and also in allowing themselves to fall for spoilers in here.

Last one as I'm fcuking up the thread.

- Break the rules, get banned.
- Go somewhere you know contains spoilers, more fool you.

That's it.

This thread should contain zero spoilers from unaired tv episodes. Anyone that posts some should be banned forevermore.

That's all the mods can do. Enforce one thing in one thread. Anywhere else, it's your own fault.

Apologies for derailing. I just get p1ssy when people complain about something within their own control.

I read that Martin said that TWOW will have parts set further north than any of the books has taken us yet.

I really really hope that had nothing to do with this ridiculous "bring back a wight" idea.

Best guess would be Bran's visions of the Long Night or into the Lands of Always Winter, which is presumably where the Others come from.

Let's hope so. I'm fairly confident that none of these daft TV plots are gonna be in the books.

Does anyone know how big the dragons are in the books? They seem to have enlarged them quite a bit for the show. I was under the impression that Drogon was the only one big enough to be ridden but certainly not able to carry 5 grown men. Also, looking at Balerion's skull in the show, he seems to have been scaled down a lot, at the same time. One has 197 more years of growth over the other. I'm thinking the difference should be a bit more pronounced.

I think Drogon's wingspan is around 20m, so his main body would be roughly the size of a fullgrown elephant. I'd say enough to carry 2 person without noticeably hampering his mobility.

Balerion is severely reduced. He could swallow a mammoth whole, so his jaw shut should be roughly 4 meters high. That's humongous.

Edit: My memory was off. Apparently he's much smaller.

Ever the largest of her three, in the wild Drogon had grown larger still. His wings stretched twenty feet from tip to tip, black as jet.

Not certain but I think Drogon is supposed to be about the size of horse in ADWD, the other two are obviously smaller due to being locked up. In the books dragons never stop growing so Balerion, who was around 220 when he died, would have been absolutely enormous compared to Dany's dragons who are 2-3 years old. In the show, they were mentioned to be "fully grown" earlier in the season.

After threatening to do so with a year or more, I finally started reading 'A Game of Thrones', the first in the series, yesterday. By the time I closed the book again, I'd dashed through 95 pages. What an incredible story-teller Martin is. Superb stuff, even better than I anticipated.

I re-watched clips of S01 E01 afterwards to see what difference the showrunners brought to the table, and I must say, straight off the bat, that their depiction of Ser Waymar Royce's encounter with The Others' Beyond The Wall was nowhere near as dramatic as Martin's vision. On the other hand, I prefer their writing of the Bran/Jaime tower push, as Martin's one had Bran hanging upside-down peering in the tower window, which is a slightly unnecessary addition.

All in all, however, I'm delighted to have finally started the books and will probably plough through another 100+ pages today.
