Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

That has to be one of the dumbest premise for a naval battle I've ever seen

The Power Puff girls are finally gone though, aint complaining.

Only 2 are gone, isn't it? Tits is still alive, I think. She was with Ellaria.

She won't be doing anymore gossiping with her girls, that works.

The episode as a whole is tolerable enough, aside from the god awful as usual Grey Worm x Missandei. But well, someone has to satisfy Dan Weiss's 'perv side'.

I thought it was a class episode. The Grey Worm/Missandei stuff has got it's pay-off so there'll be no more of that, thankfully. Rest was great.

Euron was very good, not as mystical/psychotic as the books but still very entertaining. Sand Snake hung with her whip from the front of the ship was a great image.

Who thought Arya was a goner? I did :D Bet she turns back to KL now that she knows she's not a Stark anymore
I saw the direwolf coming the moment the horse neighed. Arya's story just seem wholly disconnected from all other storylines. Why couldnt she come to KL to kill Cersei then go home afterwards? Now she is just in no man's land running in circles.

The Varys-Dany scene at the beginning was dumb as well. Well acted but you are telling me you sailed on the same ship with the eunuch and only decided just now to ask him about why he served Robert or send assassins after you? But if they don't do that then there'll be criticisms as well, damned if you do damned if you don't I guess, now that they've missed the chance to do that in previous season.

"No. Come back when you have Tyrion."

I thought he was knifed on the balls/dick

I started watching from Jon's speech, so I haven't seen the first part yet. Will wait for the rerun to catch the first part. I guessed the direwolf is coming too, but I thought the direwolf eat her as she doesn't recognize her because she has become one of faceless man/woman. But she has been without a family for so long and Jon is her favorite brother. So it is kind of understandable that she wants to go back to Winterfell

Arya's whole storyline is largely about her disconnect/loss of identity from those around her/her family, though, and how she's trying to keep it. The wolf pissing off was a fairly big character moment for her. I wouldn't mind her going to KL, but just using Arya as a revenge-tool after she's already killed Walder would be overkill.

And the Varys/Dany conversation was contrived, but then so are a lot of the dialogues. Characters regularly travel together for weeks/months only to neglect important info until it happens to be the ideal time for them to be in a scene together.

Well maybe the wolf just likes it warm down in the Riverlands :p

I don't think that convo was a grave sin btw, if I want to I can pick apart virtually everything in that episode, but it was an improvement in terms of plot progression and had a bit of nice (although dumb) action at the end. It's all the show is good for nowadays.

Yeah, there are a lot of flaws but it's still good entertainment. I didn't mind the Varys/Daenerys conversation since it added some much-needed tension in her camp, and actually meant Varys had something interesting to say/do for the first time since about Season 4.

Watch more snooker...or curling

The shows had some serious b-movie level moments.....but given the hype and the epic seven year build up to it, I'm not sure anything could be worse than Kit and Emilia sharing the screen together with their WOAT level acting abilities.

That sex scene was so fecking awkward. Quite an accomplishment to make me cringe in a scene with Nathalie Emmanuel being naked.

Kind of had to be awkward though, didn't it? He has no dick.

What would've made it more awkward is Missandei being like "On second thoughts, nah...." and left him standing there.

There was no need for it at all. Nobody gives a shit about either character and their fecked up fling. It serves absolutely no purpose, except for getting the actors naked.

It wasn't either most cringey thing in the episode anyway.....how about removing that greyscale? ugh

I knew right away what would happen with Arya, as soon as they showed the first wolf. She was never in danger, the only question was whether Nymeria would come with her but I was sure she wouldn't.

That is all Dan Weiss (or Benioff, but my money is on him). There is an interview of a director of GoT where he said he received a phonecall from one of the producers insisting on nudity since 'we represent the perv side of the audience', needless to say he was flabbergasted.

HBO had excellent shows in the past that never got excessive nudity.

The show thread people are not happy with the prophecy being gender neutral. It is speculated in the book by Aemon himself. I thought it was reasonably handled, but they think it's a cheap way out.

Show thread people are never happy.

You'd swear they're watching Dexter 4-8 or Walking Dead with some of the moaning.
Really? Things must have changed since the last time I looked in there then. Seems like they were easily impressed by every little fecking thing last time I read the thread.

I thought it did look cheap in the show, the way they handled it. Missandei being a grammar nazi as the way to do it felt a bit contrived and anti-climatic.

Something that could have been easily remedied by having Aemon giving his book speech (diluted somewhat if needed).

Well, that should have been two seasons ago and not sure if show watchers were ready for speculation on AA theory, let alone understand it.

Of all the characters alive, she's probably the best person to do it. She's courtesan from Naath, famed for their intelligence and courtesanship, raised in Slaver's bay where they speak high Valryian.

You can give some hints about dragon being neither male nor female etc... then do the grammar Nazi thing later. Bits of hints here and there, continuity.

Basically spelling it out is hardly nuanced, but what do we expect?

Yeah, that would have been better. With 13 episodes in the last two seasons, nuance is pretty much out of the window

The pacing is so strange. They're whizzing through some arcs whilst others are like drawing blood from stone. The Grey Worm sex scene was 4 minutes long...

I've been thinking about this and I think its a bit of a trick on the part of George and D&D. Given what the tv show has shown us now I have a sneaky feeling.
The following spoiler is my crazy prediction for the end of AsoiF and GoT, although the ending in AsoiF despite being the same will make alot more sense than GoT.

Melisandre is setting Dany up to be Nissa Nissa. Jon being the Azor Ahai.
Jon is going to fall for Dany, its predictable and well incestuous too, but they are Targs and it will give the viewers what they want.
Jon will then have to kill Dany (her 3rd betrayal "for love") to forge Lightbringer.
This is also the bittersweet ending George has been talking of.

I also for years have believed Asoif, is Jon Snow's story. Pretty much since I discovered R & L = J.
And the show has been making me more and more convinced its how things are going to play out.

Of course I could be way, way off the mark as I usually am, but thats my guess.

What happened to the Dothraki? They're nowhere to be seen and nobody mentioned them when Danny and company were discussing their strategy.

Also, without a fleet, how would the Unsullied get to Casterley Rock? They do, somehow, based on the trailer.
