Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Game of Thrones are filming in Ballintoy Harbour, same place for Theon’s arrival home to Pyke in Season 2. So we're defiantly getting the Iron Islands.

Some more interesting Tower of Joy reports -

So it's confirmed, I loved this in the book so looking forward to this. The swards man is Arthur Dayne, wonder who might play Lyanna and if Sean Bean returns. They cast a young Ned Stark but for a different flashback.

Kit Harrington has also been spotted again around the set.

I'm both excited and pensive about the upcoming season.

Excited because having gone past the books that's a significant monkey off their backs when it comes to freedom to depict the goings on for various characters and settings. The last couple of books were quite dull and they struggled to overcome that in the show itself. Maybe now having gone past that point they can express their vision more clearly and maybe speed things up a bit.

Pensive because when they've had freedom over character direction and dialogue in the past it's been very predictable 'hollywood' tv and has suffered (imo) as a result. I'm dreading that they'll feck something up - though what they'll feck up I'm not sure.

Apologies if this post is somewhat nonsensical, it's been a long day and my brain is scrambled.

I've been reading the last 2 books again and i like them a lot. I kind of think they put the show to shame.
I liked Brienne and Jaime's story a lot. Dorne and the Iron Islands are a nice addition too imo.

I'd half forgotten about them. I think I'm due a reread.

May just be a drunken oversight as I definitely need to spare some time for a reread - has it ever been mentioned whether a white walker could be a warg? The proper WW's are evidently sentient creatures, not undead Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

Definitely possible I think. It's heavily implied (with the Night's King), that they have a connection of some sort to the Starks.

They're introducing the northern lords like Manderly in the next season aren't they?

Well, they're introducing Northern lords, but a lot think it's likely that Greatjon will replace Wyman if Rickon's with him.

Saying that from what we've seen of Rooney's acting in the past he'd be a cracking wight, though he'd have to move a bit quicker.

Yep, Euron should have been older. Imagined him in his mid forties at least.

It is a disgrace that there is no Victarion. Him, Arienne and Aegon should have been in the show.

Pilou Asbæk is fecking everywhere, can't watch a Danish TV series these days without him showing up somewhere and now he'll be in GOT as well.
There is no escape! :nervous:

Tbf though he does look like he could be related to Theon. More a cousin than an uncle though.

Some big future spoilers on r/asoiaf for those who don't mind a bit of prior knowledge.

So if Tarly and Euron have been cast, who the hell is Ian McShane playing?

Hopefully it's a good role. Still slightly bemused at the small role they gave to the guy who played Adebisi in lost last year...

I've been rewatching Season 1 for the first time, it really is miles better than the later stuff.
It actually tells an interesting and engaging story, rather than the later seasons, taking it in turns to catch up with a range of characters we're familiar with.
