As far as 10th and 11th picks are concerned, Fergus'son has played a blinder. Especially Jarni.
 
Jarni was a good'un but Karembeu's just a decent midfielder like the rest.

WC winner and I think he will compliment the rest of my midfield nicely, we know he can work in tandem with Zidane and him next to Almeyda will provide the right blend of defensive cover as well as drive forward.

Bit of fun but now that everyone has their team, what would be people's dream team for this draft? I've just picked this off the top of my head but it's really difficult. Where to fit in the likes of Ronaldo, Rui Costa, Signori, Veron, Weah, Boban, Zola... the list goes on and on.

Does Van Basten get in ahead of Ronaldo or Signori? Del Piero?
Seems too attacking for Serie A. Baggio is nailed on for me so does Gullit fit in there next to Zidane? Or maybe drop him for someone more defensive like Deschamps, Sousa or Davids.
Would Brehme or Matthaus get in?

Fair enough. I like that team. Zanetti was only in the league for a couple of years though so based on your contribution factor, wouldn't someone like Benarrivo or even Di Livio be more deserving? Same applies to Rijkaard

edit. just seen Zanetti actually signed in 1995 so fair enough. Don't know why but I thought it was later than that.

Perhaps, though I don't think Di livio is as stable defensively, and as good as Benarrivo was, Zanetti is better and made a healthy contribution during the era anyway.

Ronaldo, Del Piero, Thuram, Donadoni and Desailly can consider themselves unlucky. You could swap Rijkaard with Desailly if need be.

Yeah. And I think George Weah and Rui Costa can also be considered very unlucky not to get in. Weah scored some stunning goals and perhaps scored the most famous goal of the decade (the one where he carried it from his own box) and Rui Costa played 6 or 7 season's as one of the best creative players in the league. So easy on the eye. An absolute joy to watch.

True, though the competition for the forward slots is intense. Weah was brilliant for a couple seasons though, loved him.
 
Surprised at the number of people that were content to have painfully average goalkeepers, I understand that they make little difference in say the all time draft, but in this one, I think they will be punished.

I concur with this. Keepers such as Buffon, Pagluica, Rossi, Taffarel and Peruzzi are miles ahead of the rest. As already said, the calibre of attacking options in the draft means not having a top quality goalkeeper may prove costly.

No worries. I just felt a bit gutted for you cos your 2 forward picks got taken straight away. Paolo Sergio is a cracking player for 12th pick.

Everyone is so precious about their players, aren't they? :D

Marchegianni was a good one too, but a slightly lesser goalkeeper than the others mentioned. I am not being personal with anyone at all, just stating my opinion. There are areas of my team which are far inferior to that of others and I have no problem with admitting it. Of course it's personal bias and everyone's personal choice, but I think goalkeeper is an important position in this particular draft. That's all I'm saying.

Now, any chance you'd dig out a decent right-back for me, Fergus' son? :lol:
