5th Test Showdown

Probably going to lose this test match but at least our batsmen have shown what they can do. Sure they could have been out for 10 runs or whatever but they made centuries and we played the cricket we like to play. IMO just watching the australian batsmen go about their work, they look 10 times better than the english do. Sounds stupid, but the way they take their shots, move around the crease and defend...they are in another class.

Its not over yet but its looking very good for england and well done to them. Been the better team throughout the series, with better bowling displays, runs from key players etc.

But i do think this final test has shown that australia are not finished as some twats seem to think.

Maybe not 10 times :p

But surely you think they look better at the crease?
what do you mean they look better at the crease??

This Aussie team is one of the best ever but now its time of domination is clearly coming to an end. Thats not to say theyl suddenly become crap, but i doubt theyl dominate cricket the way they used to, atleast not in tests. Look through the side, and the age of the team is quite incredible, almost everyone in their 30s. Mcgrath and warne are almost finished.

What i do think was sad was that during this great period of domination, no other team really hit its peak. The standard of cricket has generally gone down in the last few years and this team is great, they havent had the type of competition they should have. The south african team of 4 years back was brilliant but they just fell apart.. the Indian team of a year and a half back was excellent but they kinda lost their minds, and now this english team seems to be putting it all together. Pakistan generally a class team, and usually were better than us, they too had been going through their worst few years, they got bowled out against Australia around 50 in both innings of a test match, a couple of years ago. West Indies have gone from the greatest to good to just fecking awful.

This is probabily a reason why that West Indian team will always be considered the better.

Well I live about 15-20 miles from the Oval and it is seriously overcast today. So it should be a good day for bowling. Hoggardand Flintoff should be able to get some movement.

The convicts need to score 400+ today. It's gone past the point of being able to put England in again and then bowl them out in time to chase a target, they have to look for an innings victory. As well as they've batted to an extend they've been their own worst enemy, on Friday they scored far too slowly and they are paying for that now

You have no-one to replace Warne and McGrath that's they problem. Langer century was no better than Strauss. I think the two teams are on equal footing, if you didn't have Warne we'd have got 500+ easily

Clarke out.

EDIT: The incriminating evidence has been deleted at the start of the England second innings just on the off-chance that the Aussies make me look like a twat.

Having said that, if there's anyone likely to bail them out it's these two.

Thats not enough though.
Actually IMO they should declare anyway and have a go at England right now.
No point getting a lead of 40-50 and wasting loads of time to get.
Conditions right now are favourable to the bowlers, ideal time to knock couple of top order batsmen.

If the English batsmen prove to be as utterly helpless against the moving ball as the Aussies then we might be in for another thriller.

Warne delivers straight away, expertly landing it in the rough. Strauss gone.

Can someone please tell me how England played under much worse conditions in the last series in Pakistan.? It will completely spoil the result of the series, its a diabolical decision, no wonder cricket has been in doldrums...How can people paying £60.00 be happy/cheering players going off .? Its taken away my sunday fun...

Boycott came close to calling England cheats/bad sportsmen.

They should stay on. If they win due to the weather it will be a hollow vistory.

They'd have it won already were it not for the weather, in fairness.

No it won't. If it weren't for bad weather the Ashes would already be won..

The Aussies have come off for bad light twice already this match
