5th Test Showdown

I haven't decided if I'm a Pom or an Aussie yet. I think I'll wait to see which way this match goes first :)

One man team?

You know it is tempting fate to say that don't you?

Watching the Rugby (poofs version) World Cup I found myself cheering no matter who was attacking. Very weird. In the end I was pleased England won.

I think.

Lets be honest, until Warne bowled yesterday the Aussies looked lost.

Great bowler, and without him England would have already won the series.

Warne is a fantastic bowler and player. The Aussies really do look a one man team at the moment. Yesterday the crowd was buzzing and behind the England team, but when they announced Warne was about to bowl it went quiet as if to say "Oh my god, here he comes"

I'm not doubting that he has been very very important and without his brilliant spell yesterday the match may well have been favoring England.

But don't mistake the loss of form of Ponting and Hayden for lack of ability. They could easily turn it on today.

England have done well and are undeniably a better side than they have been since ??????????? But I am not sure if it is a case of England playing at the top of their game and Australia playing well below par or of we are really seeing a changing of the guard.

Being England you always suspect that they have the capacity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Should be an interesting match either way.

Replacing Warne and McGrath will be a huge task for Australia but there is a great deal of strength in State level cricket.

There's a few handy batsmen doing the rounds here but I'm struggling to think of a ready made world class bowler coming through the state game.

Superb ball by Brett Lee to dismiss Geraint Jones. Dipped in and out viciously and took out his off stump.

Could have played it better in fairness. Didn't keep his bat and pad together.

McGrath gets a clear edge off Giles' bat, given not out by Koetzen.

Makes up for the poor call on Colly being out hit on the foot well outside the line then....

Giles and Hoggy are starting to piss the Aussie's off. Always nice to see

So the old trick of running out of ideas and chucking the ball to Warne comes in then....

McGrath and Lee have been moving the ball both ways, but a foot outside offstump. Don't know why you wouldn't just pitch it up on off stump and let the tailenders get themselves out.

Well Hoggard's just lobbed up a slower ball to cover... which was pitched up and on off stump.

Harmison mistimes a hook shot off his first ball inches away from Katich's despairing dive at square leg.

If the Aussies are getting movement then that's great news for us...

 Mcgrath digs in another short one that rises feebly around waist height and Harmison dispatches it.

And again next ball but they've decided to put another fieldsman there.

McGrath is fecking fuming.

Lee returns to form and gives away three consecutive boundaries to Harmison. This is officially a useful partnership.

It's all over as Warne traps Giles LBW.

And Hawkeye shows that it would have missed off stump by a mile.

Makes up for Hoggards nick

Pitched and hit him in line which would have swayed Bowden.

But yeah, true about the LBW decisions in this series.

What about Colly's LBW yesterday?

Strauss nicked one early on that wasn't given.

Umpiring's been shit for both sides during this match.

To be fair Gilchrist and Warne didn't exactly appeal. If the unpire is unsure and there is very little appeal he won't give it

Don't understand why pace bowlers open every innings with a bouncer. What better time to make a batsman play a shot.

wait a little and have a crap later LB.

btw, what are the bowling conditions like today?
