Left my pick with Green Smiley as am away all day. Could probably do with an assistant manager to post pics of players etc. Or I don't mind assisting if a more seasoned drafter wants to participate.

What do you guys mean by selling out with picking Pele? I'm assuming the taboo is about picking the two GOAT beings as Maradona was scrutinised in the other draft?

Yes. They are easy picks that don't really take much persuasion or tactics to get votes. All you really have to say is "C'mon, its Pele" and people will nod their heads and agree. Still, pretty much every drafter would pick him if given the chance (I know I would).

There was a debate on whether Pele should be banned or not - unnamed players can't be named so we just made references to him instead of just using his name, and yeah in the end it was decided that no one should be banned, so that there is a fair representation of the decade overall.
Is anybody surprised that Cruyff was eligible for this draft? I always thought he was a bit younger then the guys in the 40's.

Eusebio has that 'one man attack who can destroy every team on his own' thing going for him. In the grand scheme of things that has to count for something. As a pure number 9, I rate Müller slightly higher as Eusebio. As an overall player, Eusebio has the edge. Eusebio also gives you a lot more options to build a team, you can play him as a lone forward, 2nd striker, part of a two upfront or even as an inside forward, which makes him the better pick in my opinion. I wouldn't mind playing them together in one of the next rounds

I'm not going to lie, even though you are up against me,I would love to see that attack. Fortunately (Or rather unfortunately for you) with your position in the picking order, I can't see Eusebio lasting until you.
Sorry, not the Pele bit - the bit about the pool of players not being deep. Did you mean from a popularity/vote winning POV?
Oh, more to do with popularity. There will be a lot of unknown gems making their debut in this draft and the number of 'known' or renowned players will probably be over by round 4-5ish I think.

The highest concentration of GOATs? Probably yes. The deepest pool? Probably not.
In terms of making a best XI, the 40's would come out tops against any other decade. However, the lack of coverage and due to how long ago it was, there are a lot of players that won't be recognised today (Even some of the best players of the times).
