Television 24

Awesome first two hours. Probably the best start since series one.

Agreed. Although season 5 is up there as well, but this was fantastic.

Missile blowing up the chopper was fantastic. Should've seen it coming, but I was just a step behind the plot.

Although I could definitely tell the reporter wasn't the threat.

And I agree with zain. Kim was quite tolerable. Chloe was quite fantastic. "If you want to be more efficient, why don't you just tell me I better catch up or I'm fired?"

Also I think we should make predictions in this thread to make it more fun. Spoiler tags of course to not reveal anything from previous episodes for those who haven't watched them. Also try not to reveal any predictions based on casting news and don't reveal any spoilers you read from wherever.

Predictions:
1. Cole is going to be a total badass.
2. Dana Walsh/Jenny is going to get kidnapped and held to blackmail Cole.
3. Kim will get on the plane but someone will threaten to fire a missile at it.
4. Hastings looks like an incompetent prick now but eventually he'll do something incredibly meaningful.
5. Prez Hassan will piece things together himself and end up strangling Brother Hassan.

Haha, it's back!

That was a cracking first two episodes to be honest. I think only Season 5 tops it (In fairness though, to steal a phrase from Spoony, Season 5 tops most things). As jveezy said it was fairly obvious the reporter wasn't the threat, though I didn't think it would end up being the brother of President Hassan.

Kim was surprisingly unannoying in the episode, even asking Jack to stay at CTU. I doubt we will see much of her now though, perhaps a few conversations on the phone between her and Bauer. I can't see anything happening at the airport, they did that at the back end of Season 7, surely not two seasons in a row?

I like Hastings, he's quality. Despite being a bit cnutish towards Chloe and a bit of a dick towards Jack I reckon he's going to be a quality director. He reminds me of Forest Whitaker.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the Dana Walsh/Jenny arc. She mentioned to her friend that whatever he knows could ruin her career, so maybe whoever it is that keeps calling her (Forgot his name) will try and blackmail her. Whether he is working with the terrorists or not, I'm not sure.

Also, Davros is quality :D Though I doubt he will last beyond the first half of the season, as there is always somebody else who comes into play.

As I said though, cracking start to the season and I look forward to the double episode tomorrow.

I like the cast for this season, Hastings is good, Dana has nice tits, Cole will develop alongside Jack, Renee when she turns up will be nasty. I love the Davros character already and I hope he gets a decent run but inevitably Jack is catch up to him sometime soon.

Really enjoyable first 2 episodes.

The 2 new episodes tonight looks like its finally going to get down to business after the introductions last night

What's the spoiler policy for this show?

Anyway, I think I'm 24'd out. I can probably guess every plot twist by now. I really hate that, in every season, nobody remembers that Jack saved the world 14 times, so they always block his every move. Can't we get just one government official to stand up and say, "This is JACK EFFIN' BAUER, everyone listen to him!" I'm looking at you, CTU Director Bubba Gump. The "CTU agent has a shady past that comes back to haunt them" plot is also tired. That's you, Starbuck. We can surmise that by episode 8, the assassination plot will wrap up and it will turn out that there is an even bigger conspiracy run by evil rich white guys--to use JACK as their terrorist weapon!

Mostly, I'm disappointed that there's a lot of actors that were good in better projects, and now they are shoehorned into the background. Like Starbuck, Bubba Gump, and the dude from Slumdog Millionaire (though not Freddie Prinze Jr., who sucks.) And stupid President Taylor is still the president? At least Renee is coming back.

I think the first part of your post would be true for any show that has gone for 8 seasons. The show has a formula and it works, so the writers are going to stick by it.

i'm just trying to predict now who is the mole within ctu, because i doubt its solely hassan's brother

Anil Kapoor's accent was all over the place. Disappointing, he's capable of much better.

Was a solid opener but it brought nothing new to the table and was far too predictable. Its good enough for me tbh, classic good old 24. But I can understand why some people have gone off it. Their a lot of similar elements every season and it seems the writers are happy to play it safe in that sense. I would love to see them push the envelope a bit more, make things edgier and just shake up the whole formula.

Oh and CTU should just have a big poster put up by the entrance saying "JACK IS ALWAYS RIGHT". The territorial boss angle is the only one I'm fed up of.

bit disappointed so far, not because of the plot but because of the dodgy acting by the supporting cast. Anil Kapoor and his brother, omg just shoot them already.
The comedy bad guy at the start with the dodgy hair, wtf?
where do they find these guys, jobbingactors.com?

when are eps 3 and 4 downloadable?

Standard 24, nothing that special. Still good to watch though.

Eps 3 and 4 should come up around 4/5am Geebs. I can PM you links again if you like.

Also I think that shit should be in spoiler tags.

About 1 hour, 20 minutes from now.

Ah right, I may stay up for them. Mind you, I'm at home tonight and my download speeds are terrible, so I'll probably just wait until tomorrow.

atdhe.net will be streaming the fox channel if you cant wait for the downloads

Brilliant first 2 episodes. Really set the tone for the next two, which I will download at work tomorrow - Then have to wait to watch it in the evening, unless I can convert them to ipod for the journey home...

I just checked atdhe.net and its on NOW. feck it, will wait till its nice and HD quality. NN

Meh kinda disappointing
don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of the series but 8 seasons is a bit too much for something like it.I have merely enjoyed the first 2 episodes as the déja vu feeling of it was weird.
Hastings seems like a proper arrogant dickhead so far and the rest seems just that classical.Gonna enjoy watching it obviously but probably not as much as some on here

Ok, the 3rd and 4th eps were a lot more kickass.

But can we all agree the Kevin/Dana subplot is a real boner killer? It's like "Jack kills someone with an axe, car goes BOOM"--rock hard erection. Then Starbuck gets a call from her stalker, and my weiner droops.

According to the commercials for it Bauer has retired??? after 7 shit days at work he gets to retire???? pretty unrealistic if you ask me.

Definitely agree with all of that.

Of course that's okay because my hard-on came back as soon as Renee got off the helicopter. Got harder when she started getting an attitude at CTU. Nearly fainted when she...took that guy's bracelet off. New nickname courtesy of thebauer.blogspot.com, Walker Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

As soon as Davros capture Cole, you knew Bauer was going to take Davros out at the last second.

Don't know what the point of Bauer getting captured by cops and getting the shit kicked out of him was. Seemed like a time filler just to make things seem not so easy. Wonder if we'll even see those two cops again.

Quote of the week:
Hastings: Is that good enough?
Chloe: NO. But it's better than nothing.

Previous Predictions:

1. Cole is going to be a total badass. Correct.
2. Dana Walsh/Jenny is going to get kidnapped and held to blackmail Cole. Pending. Will happen when she goes home to talk to Kevin.
3. Kim will get on the plane but someone will threaten to fire a missile at it. Pending. Plane probably hasn't even left yet.
4. Hastings looks like an incompetent prick now but eventually he'll do something incredibly meaningful. Pending. I suppose the mea culpa with Chloe showed a different side of him.
5. Prez Hassan will piece things together himself and end up strangling Brother Hassan. Incorrect. Happened much faster than I thought it would, but I suppose a strangling could still happen.

New Predictions:

6. Vladimir Laitanan's radiated son is going to do something crazy before he dies. Probably will get shot by his dad or brother.
7. Bauer will have a breakdown somewhere. Renee will save him. Inevitably this will lead to a makeout session.
