Julien Castro called out his wandering mind and incoherence back in late 2019. Nobody else with a shot - Bernie, Pete, Warren - joined in. The party and media attacked Castro for being divisive and mean.

He was horrendous for most of the primary debates, a mixture of lies and incoherence, but fired himself up for good performances in the Trump debates. The rest of the time, the respectable media and party have created this parallel reality of a coherent Biden. There are cracks in the facade, which have all been brushed aside - the awful Rolling Stone interview transcript was ignored, and all social media clips are dezinformatsiya.

Honestly feel that Biden had aged 15 years in 4 years. And it has been drilled into peoples brains that Biden is old. When he gets up on stage in a debate, he will look far older.

4 years later, Trump is just the same. If a giant meteorite hits the earth, the only things left will cockroach's and Donald Trump.
Called it 8 months ago.

Biden - he can can get votes from center-right voters, Newsom is seen by many as a radical left winger or in US parlance a socialist/communist, his turn is 2028

Trump is not getting back in, he doesn't have enough support as already pointed out, with Independents and women, he can't win without them
want to rethink that?

Biden has definitely aged a bit, but that won't play into whether or not people vote for him or Trump. The masses turned out last time to keep Trump out of the Presidency, so they're not likely to change their minds just because both guys are a bit older. Also, Trump could very well be in jail and the prospect of potential jail time can't be ignored when it comes to public perceptions of him being a viable candidate a year from now.
really? He looked like he had been woken from his casket tonight !!!

Brezhnev after his stroke, 2 years before death, reading a prepared statement.

The gerontocracy at this stage went through 3 leaders in under 3 years.

So what?
It doesn’t matter. We all know he won’t accept it. That is baked in by now.

This is where Democrats have gone wrong. As critical as our democracy is, it’s not a daily issue for people. Unlike the price of food, gas, bills etc.
Yes, the type of person that posts this kinda meme…they’re already voting for Trump.

Anyone would be worried after that
Everyone should have been worried before it. Should have been worried months ago. Should have been worried before they decided to coronate a geriatric. Yet here we are, America's last gasp of democracy defended by a tired, frail, mumbling husk.

It's fecking shameful that this is the choice the American people are presented with.

Why the feck is CNN running with Democrats disappointed news. Look at Trump side. A whole bunch of lies were told and they have declared victory.

Narrator’s voice: ‘He did not, in fact, get destroyed tonight.’

Because they are, Dems and Dem leaning journalists/commentators are in full recrimination mode on social media, only party surrogates are putting up a brave face.

What the hell. This is apparently moments after the debate. Sounded far better than he did for any single question during it. Did they mix up the order of the meds or something?

Why is it that Trump's criminal charge has had negligible on any independents?

Polls have been the same.
Polls were on average marginally better for Biden post conviction, that tracks with reality, only 5% of the electorate are true independents, the rest are just shy partisans.

Also, Republicans have prepped for the conviction for years by crying about political witch hunts and monkey courts, a narrative which even a true independent might be partial to, trust in American institutions isn’t exactly at an all time high.

Andrew Yang is calling for Biden to drop out

It’s salvageable with a strong convention speech and 2nd debate, but at this point that looks like a pipe dream.

If someone convinces Biden to drop out, DNC will just pick Harris, won't they?

Her electability is about the same as Biden's, not very good.

Absolutely not IMHO. Biden will pull more votes than Harris even if he d be dead. I know plenty of moderate Rs who voted Biden last time around but hate Kamala's guts. Not to mention she would lose a lot of minority votes bc of her history in CA.

Ah yes, the fact checkers will ultimately bring down Trump. They are usually very effective against him.

I didn’t watch the debate so only catching the news about it now. Was hoping Biden would be stronger and show up Trump but I guess that didn’t happen. Feck!

I'm watching some of these Biden clips laughing out loud. This is utterly insane. If Biden was a dog I'd have put him down last week.

Hoping for an open convention even if it seems unlikely. Just seems like especially after tonight you only have a short window to act on getting some of the sympathy vote as well. In some ways it feels like anyone fresher will immediately pull a lot more votes back to the Dems. If they play it smart. But they keep shooting themselves in the foot again and again.

In some ways Trump alone doesn't scare me - it's the appointees and family cronyism that completely demolished some of the very foundations of our government and societiel standards I am worried about. Its still staggeringly amazing how many scandals happened across Dept of State, Dept of Energy, the VA, the Dept of Education etc etc. Not to mention the Supreme Court having gone completely rogue. Its troubling to say the least.

They have no other play, nobody with presidential aspirations will jump in at this stage to take one for the team, Newsom sure as hell won’t.

And it will be disastrous, yes. Harris has no pull, even with PoC.

Tbh though they deserve it, if you are trying to prop up a geriatric, the least you could do is make sure you don’t alienate key constituencies in battleground states by catering to his whims, the abysmal handling of Gaza and his bizarre fixation with competing Trump on the border issue instead of sticking to Roe has been disastrous, even tonight when Trump handed the win to him on a plate with that answer about Roe being reversed as a great thing, he fumbled it by talking about murder and rape by immigrants.

Dems fecking up for the second time against Trump sometimes it feels like everyone is in cahoots. It was so obvious Biden is done yet they persist with him. Now it’s too late.

A 2nd Trump presidency looks inevitable.

For what it is worth, debates don't tend to matter much for election results anymore.

Trump is super unpopular. Biden's biggest weakness is age. While she has never done well in any election iin her life, there could very plausibly be a surge of relief if this man gets replaced. And between now and October, if she gets one foreign policy win, I think she'd be easy favourite.

The Russian troll farm technology to make Biden look bad on video can now run in real time, during live appearances. Worrying stuff.

Didn't watch the debate, how did each participant fare ratings-wise?
You know when two pensioners stand at the end of a golf round arguing about who had the best shot, but out of the blue wind up arguing over random things such as which mint chocolate from the 70s was the best? It was like that.
