If Dems had just run someone like Whitmer or Newsom, Trump would be getting demolished in this debate.

The idea that Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if the US had a President that "Putin liked better" is frankly insane.

Now he claims Hamas wouldn't have attacked Israel if Trump was President, craziness.

i saw a tiny bit of one clip and he just sounds quiet, incoherent, honestly like someone in a nursing home.

his biggest weakness isn't any policy, not even inflation or the border, but his age perception. after this...

This one might, Trump is lying his ass off but he looks coherent, Biden looks exactly what he is, an almost senile old man
This was my exact thought too. A Whitmer or Newsom could torn apart Trump's lies but Biden is barely able to string together 3 sentences. There are going to be memes all over the internet after this.

The idea that the US was respected around the world under Trump has to be one of the stupidest things he repeats and that's saying something.

This is fecking painful. You've this personification of everything bad in the world talking absolute shite, and who do they have to answer back? Dirty Grampa. Democrats should be wiping the floor with this arsehole. Imagine AOC up there, she would rip the silver spoon right out of his orange ass. Okay, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is probably too radical for a country who love their lemon party, but the Dems must have someone who can stand there and not look like their grandchildren aren't filing a missing persons report for them.

Actually she would be shoving it up his ass!

The Biden that debated Palin would have jumped on all the easy openings Trump leaves him.
A 65 year old Biden, or anyone 65 and under would probably wipe the floor with Trump. Trump would be the one labeled the senile rambling old fool.

It's like England getting a penalty to take the lead in the 90th minute of a World Cup final, and bringing on Geoff Hurst to take it.

while the obvious answer is (and has been, for months) to replace this decrepit man, evvery democrat endorsed him early in the ""primary"", his inner circle is known to keep dissenting voices out, and he personally has a frighteningly big ego.
there's a good chance they can convince each other this is a good performance and stop at source any attempt by the party to replace him with somebody who has a greater-than-zero chance. (at this stage, kamala, because it's probably too late for somebody completely new).

Not watching but read a few live blogs and comments. The issue with the whole thing is even if they do fact checks "later" none of that will matter. Just like we have seen time and time again if trump says it even if its corrected in Main stream media sites there will still be memes and every other source that ignores it. NY Times doing a fact check as it goes but none of that will penetrate to where it needs to go if not live. Which is the main reason for not airing most trump speeches and rallies live anymore. They learned at least that much. But this is a venue to get that airtime back for trump and get the lies going again

The bar is so low for trump regardless of being a convicted felon, found to be a complete fraud in court. In debt for hundreds of millions. An unashamed racist who has threatened vengeance for all his perceived persecutors. Biden stuttered, looked shaky and old will be the headline.

cannot hear what he is saying, at times can't even infer what he's trying to say.

e - every single word trump has said can be understood, his sentences are coherent, and his point makes sense in a dumb guy kind of way.

Biden seemed to start to do well towards the end of part 1. But straight out and into part 2 he is really stumbling and is very hard to hear.

Kamala was a bad choice for VP. It should have been the person the Dems wanted to run this election. Spent the past 4 years putting them front and centre and looking like a President in waiting. Even if Joe still made the same decision to run, if he needed to be replaced, it's an easy swap out.

Too late to do that now. Short of some charismatic firebrand coming out of nowhere that can form a movement in the next 4 months.
