100%. "We can't let this happen again". Honestly this feels like one of the darkest days in American history, well that or most embarrassing.

We're a mess, but once again I feel comforted that we're not America.

Agree. Insane country. Not going to lie though, it’s somewhat disappointing to see the results.

oh dear. What is happening?

Begs the question…Can he really be that bad when he’s got the popular vote as well. He’s up around 5m on Harris. And as it stands it’s very likely he’ll take all 7 swing states. It could end up being an absolute train wreck for Kamala when it’s over

Yeah he can be that bad, don't worry! What a world we live in.

That's honestly probably true though. He made his intentions clear from the get go. It is arguably a huge factor in why we are where we are. It's probably also why Bezos pulled the endorsement - they hold the keys now to mass amounts of user data that is more powerful than just about anything these days when you're trying to get into positions of power.

There is causality now, but there was no way he had any clue whatsoever when he went through with the decision - in fact, he tried his level best to back out of that purchase. He got to his wins on random chance, an arbitrary roll of the dice. Your arguments are what Elon defenders will be using, though, to make their case. Anyways, don't want to derail this thread any further, it is infuriating as it is.

I just really, really feel for the people in Ukraine.

The US is funding a genocide. Harsh to put that on an individual. The border is another cluster feck.
She is the current sitting Vice President of the government who is funding Israel. There are many different players involved in American empire and she is one of them.

I know the world likes to laugh and mock America, but christ how fecking fecked do you have to be to not only elect Trump once, but do it twice? This campaign has been sickening, even more of a joke than the first time, and yet look at these results. Scary.

It's virtually a mandate for authoritarianism. He and Republicans haven't been particularly subtle about it. Americans want a blustering man to take charge and "fix things" without them having to think about how solutions are going to work.

Democrats probably should have run with Newsom.

I can't believe America have elected trump twice. What a totally unserious country

If only this was about USA but it might fek up the whole world. Not might, will.
For me this is another example of why we need to wake up, Europe, Africa and Asia. Imagine just one country changing its leader fecking up the whole world.

I think your post is a little bit of an exaggeration but America’s hegemony has to end.

Imagine being so dependent strategically, economically, security wise in a country that can’t even pass common sense gun laws.

You're being quite generous with either "popular" or "England".
He’s talking about 6%. An asteroid hitting the earth has a popularity of 13%.

But you’re right I should have used Boris Johnson as the example.

At least this is clarifying. It's not close. He's doing better everywhere. This is what America wants. It wants to 'return' to pre-pandemic world. Fair enough, I do too. But it's not possible.

I desperately hope the Dems now go for a change, positive candidate. Please please please don't take a message that moderating is what is needed.

I thought it would work - I thought they could grab some tiny sliver of the 20% of Haley voters. I was dead wrong. Dems need a new face, a new, positive direction to energise. It can't be anti-anything, it has to be for something.

AOC28!!!

AOC? That would make this bloodbath look quaint.

Triumphant Donny.

World peace and a strong America beckons

Lazy arse whiners left sat on their arses again

Not at all. People fully understood this was a possibility and talked about it A LOT
Fair enough, just as I have been flicking through amd anyone who is for the other view seems to get am aggressive response, or even in one case gets called a piece of shit and to go feck themselves.

It also turns out that a stand up set with some racist jokes and Rudy Giuliani being about as racist against Palestinians as the average pro-Israeli didn't decide the election after all.

Who would have thought? This thread is pretty bizarre at the best of times, but that must have been one of the most out of touch moments.

I started last night thinking of how I’d feel (as a non American) if you all put Trump in. I thought I’d be upset and angry. And I am.

But, at the same time, just look at the information. It’s a resounding victory. Fundamentally we can’t just say it’s because no one wants to vote a woman, or that the economy was shit (although likely the key driver of this) even if they played a part. Because, standing back from it, the kinds of stuff Trump says and stands for should be unacceptable to a significant portion of people. That it isnt, and that actually his vote share will go up, means something. And it can’t just always be the bias in the media or people are stupid or whatever else. Something in what the democrats are doing is wrong. Their message isn’t landing.

And so if anything does come of this, I hope the sheer scale of the drubbing forces them to rethink this whole thing. For one reason or another, and I know some of those reasons are out of their control, they’ve failed to convince people that what they stand for isn’t just the right thing, but that it’s also good for them.

If I was the news media, I'd probably start by stopping being a massive knobhead who tries to dictate how people think while also stopping the ridiculous idea behind trying to copy the world of social media and get back to just reporting things accurately, without bias and sometimes a little after others whilst ensuring what I report was accutate.

Because simping for clicks has failed and everyone thinks they're massive cnuts.

You lot don't feel this thread was/is a bit of an echo chamber? In hindsight?
The whole echo chamber thing to me is just as stupid as saying snowflakes. People hang out with other people who are somewhat on the same wavelength. Shocker. The MAGA crowd literally created their own websites and news sources out of nothing so the whole accusing one side of being in an echo chamber is incredibly disingenuous. How do you think I'd fare hanging out in truth social or even the trump aligned subs on Reddit? Exactly.

This confirmed to be stopping under Trump then?
I was replying to a poster saying Harris is more civilised than Trump.

It wasn’t about Trump policy(Which won’t be any different as American foreign policy is detached from any democratic process).

That poster did not have an opposing view. He was trolling about Sandy Hook, and the poster who insulted them got the warning points that insulting posters warrants. Just for clarity.

News now trickling out on how the Musk PAC was able to use data from Twitter to hyper target on messages ranging from pro Israel, pro Palestine, economy, migrant crime … on a one to one basis.
Let’s see as more unearthed but seems like Cambridge analytica on steroids
