He's not endorsing anyone, but is he still voting for Harris ?
I watched an interview with him on Democracy Now and he mostly wants people to vote in general.

It’s very confusing and not exactly well thought out. I guess it sums up the difficult situation some people find themselves in.

I hope you're right. I don't discount that there will be some degree of extra turnout for abortion, but it would need to be substantial to win a state like Iowa. If that happens, then Harris would coast to an easy EC win.

And of course, the attitudes of those in Iowa may be different to that of Texan's, despite both polling for Trump around +8.

Her track record is impressive. In Selzer we trust! :)

Agreed. I would imagine Harris will still get a lot of votes in that area since she has been messaging that she will do something about the war if elected. In fact, she has been saying different things to Jewish and Arab groups.

Not on mine in news I can only get Sky News, CNBC and fecking GB News

If you by any chance have a Samsung TV, look at the Samsung TV app, it’s a streaming platform that essentially operates the same as Freeview but via the internet, and that has CNN.

Cheers. I reading an article recently that was highlighting all the contradictions and conflicting groups the Harris campaign is trying to hold together.

It really is trying to be all things to all people while hoping on one realises. Could work for the election but could cause problems in the long term.

Dont know what it is about US elections but they just get me stressed out

It's the threat of this orange imbecile and what shenanigans he might pull, let alone the threat of him actually winning.

I wish I wasn't this stressed over an election in another country! I can't believe we have to go through all this again 4 years later; couldn't the GOP have just done away with MAGA?

Question for someone who really doesn't follow this. I heard on the news just now that the PA governor was a strong candidate for Kamala's VP. Why wouldn't they select him if PA is the key state?

My thoughts:

1. Because, historically, there is little evidence the home state of a VP means anything.
2. There were stories (believe them or not, up to you) that he did not mesh well with Harris during the interview process.
3. Shapiro is a great orator and communicator and, in some peoples eyes, he might have overshadowed her.

To add to @WI_Red's list. There was some news that during the interview process, Shapiro was attempting to negotiate what his role as VP would be, whereas Walz was simply the polite, jovial Walz we've since come to know, which Harris connected better with Harris at the time. She simply went with the guy she was more comfortable with.

I think Elon was doing similar with attack ads saying Kamala was pro-Israel/antisemitic depending on the target audience. Sadly the lives of tens of thousands get treated as little more than a political football

Can’t believe its been close to 10 years and we’re still stressed about Trump

The turd that just won’t flush..

The Rest is Politics are doing a live stream on election night....

https://www.youtube.com/@restispolitics

Pretty good content, imo.
And the Mooch will be on as well, this is a pretty good politics channel, mostly UK focussed but they do cover other countries, there's a very good podcast that I posted in the US politcs thread a few days back where they have Sentaor George Mitchell on, it's not election realted but well worth the 80 min watch

That might explain your highly intellectual contributions in this thread.

Because consuming all of one's news via a single source has led to such "highly intellectual contributions" across America of course.

It also happens to be where the policy is. For all his corrupt and demagogic antics, Trump still delivers a vast majority of the policies Rs want, which compels most of them to continue voting for him - including tax cuts. He even delivered the holy grail of the evangelical movement by getting rid of national abortion.
And the latter might just end up being his downfall, a lot of Red states have made abortion a bigger issue than it might have been with their over the top restrictions, in particular with younger women, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of so called unlikely results, especially in states that have amendments on the ballot

100%

Abortion is a losing issue for Rs. For all the resources they spent for decades trying to kill Roe, the fact that it no longer exists has been a massive wake up call to women, which the R hierarchy didn't factor into their calculus. Even Trump has been tap dancing around the issue by operating to the left of people like DeSantis, who was pushing for a national abortion ban. If Harris wins and she happens to get a Dem Congress, she will be under some pressure to get a new national law through to reverse the latest SCOTUS ruling.

They can't not do it, though, because they are religious fundamentalist nutjobs (or are being controlled by people like that). I'm not convinced they will learn the lesson. There will be a significant element of the Republican party chasing stricter abortion laws until a full generation shift has taken place.

I'm a Mooch fan. He has been doing a Rest if Politics US edition for the past few months with Katy Kay.

I quoted him probably about 400 pages back on this thread when he said something to the tune of ....
20 million boomers have died since the 2016 election and 40M Gen Z are now eligible to vote.

Infact, i found the clip....

The Boomer generation seemed to heavily favour Republicans. Probably because they had fond memories of what the Republicans used to be. i.e The Reagan Republicans.

Many assume that when people hit a retirement age, then they will automatically start to become more conservative.

Im not sure if that is the case and we may be seeing signs on this in this election. There were signs of this in the Selzer Iowa poll.

This is so fecking predictable and you worrywarts get strung along as usual

Does make me a bit sad that his streak wont end though
