2022 US Elections

Notice how he continually dismisses mail ballots as basically illegal, but because Dems made it legal, the GOP have to exploit it. They cannot stand the idea of people voting. It is still ingrained down to the young right-wingers of today that only certain ways and certain people are REALLY legitimate to participate in elections.

And to think , he only does this as a hobby. He put RCP to shame.
Everybody half decent at this political forecast stuff puts RCP to shame. They are a political operation with conservative leaning, and it was clear even back when they had a veneer of respectability.

The downfall of 538 has more to do with Silver getting rattled from the 2016 results and tried to become a savvy pundit instead of just being the numbers guy. Cohn stuck to the numbers by and large and he’s gone through 18, 20, and now 22 relatively unscathed.

With 51 votes, I believe Democrats will gain leadership positions on Senate committees. They are currently sharing it.

Holding GA would allow Machin to break away from Biden on certain policies, allowing him to run for reelection in 24 months. Yes, he could be DINO, or he could be in a difficult situation with his party and state right now. However, assuming he does not change parties, I believe it would be better for Democrats if he got re-elected over some MAGA supporters or even moderate Republicans (who would be against any Democratic president due to how extreme that state has become). Reelection maps appear to favor the GOP in 2024, and I believe it will take some time to return to a more moderate position, even if MAGA does not survive.

No Kemp to help him with "down ballot" voters and the Trump curse coming through
Also the demotivation that the Dems already hold the Senate. Republicans aren’t going to come out in force to put Walker in the Senate and they sure as hell aren’t going to come out to ensure that Manchin has the final say in everything.

They still don't get it. Claiming it's because of the way people vote and not because of the 1950's style platform that the GOP keep trying to shove down our throats. Your party is built on race bating and controlling women's bodies and that's why you are losing.
Well that and your voters who still live in the 60s are dying

I'm having trouble seeing through all the numbers. Is there an actual chance the dems will retain the house??

 Brutal. Not going to lie though, Hercules/Xena tv block was my jam back in the day.

Yeah its strange, i saw a tweet by someone who i thought was relatively intelligent basically claiming the Democrats results are due to them “scamming” mail-in.

Am still thinking 218 GOP personally...but guess we'll see. This timeline never comes through.

Were so many of the predictions wrong because they didn't expect the young vote to be so strong?

Because the young voters voted for democrats overwhelmingly - more so than usual. There were no other unique factors apart from FL.

Also, someone from WP stated that the predictions are still decent and most of them were within the error of margins. Because most people do not understand terms such as 'toss up' and only look at numbers such as 55-45, the predictions seem totally off. His words though not mine.

I find it incredible that in this day and age, it still takes forever to count the votes.

In NV and AZ it’s a GOP added feature, not a bug. CA? No fecking clue, and I used to live there.

Is there some rules like you can only start counting mail in ballots after a certain date or something? It's mind boggling. I used to follow the Taiwanese elections on TV and the votes are counted and updated real time.

Yep. Multiple States have rules in place that do not allow the processing of mail in ballots until after the election is over. Because processing includes opening up 100k’s of envelopes (and in some states 2 envelopes as the ballot is in its own) it can take a while. Most states will count Election Day ballots first, while processing the mail in votes, which is why you see the GOP jump to a lead. GOP legislator’s put these rules in place as the above dynamic creates a “look, the Dems are cheating, they’re finding votes” narrative.
