2022 US Elections

There is an article on CNN saying that Democrats would have gotten crushed without the support of young voters. Yeah, the GOP would be screwed if people over the age of 65 stopped voting for them.

The standard of journalism there is like your team would have lost if you took out a goalkeeper stuff.

Heard that in Kentucky some local elections were decided by an actual coinflip as per state law. Surely I misread this?

To be fair, they have it at 15% in the Lite model, which only uses the polling. The fact that the "Deluxe" model has it as 2% says more about the "experts". Also seems like there were exactly two polls in that race, one Perez at +2 and one more recent Kent at +4, so yeah, predictions for some House seats seems almost futile.

I think that's a fair statement by CNN, given that young people have a history of not voting, and old people don't.

Can you remember the last time 65+ failed to turn out?

Only 190k votes left in Maricopa and Lake is down by 34k

290k overall votes left in AZ. Lake has to win 55 - 57%. Hobbs has to win 44 - 45%

Barring something completely unexpected, this appears To be Hobbs’ to lose.

Exactly. It is very relevant and shows that you need to keep addressing the issues important to the base and those that came out. Keep them engaged.

Some context on why Lake picked up a few votes in the last Maricopa dump. There are pockets of more conservative voters on the outskirts.

Actually, the article seems to suggest that the turnout was not that high compared to the last 20 years of midterms and in fact, it just was average. It is just that more of them voted for democrats this time compared to the past. But my point was that that's how Dem got their votes just like how GOP got theirs from 65+ mostly and was not exactly something new.

"Tuesday’s result, though, wasn’t because they showed up in larger numbers. It’s because those who did show up were so Democratic." - CNN.

Senate will end up 51-49.

Now to keep the the R House majority to as little as possible. Damn you New York.

This is not a horrible idea unless it gives her a position to cause even more damage.

If Rev. Warnock wins, that would give Dems the votes to nuke the filibuster although likely not control of the House. If it's a one or two seat majority, the chaos of it all could allow the Dems to get some bills passed if GOP members are absent, resign, etc.
