From r/conservative. They're in shock over there.

I'd guess that people posting on that subreddit in 2022 are not the full-blown Trump base that posted on r/theDonald

I just went there now and I see these types of posts so I'm not sure they are representative there of the current GOP

I was pretty conservative until my fifties, but the GOP left me behind when they divorced themselves from conservative values, echoed nutjob conspiracy theories, surrendered to a cult of personality, and adopted a populist approach to an increasingly shrinking diehard base.

Your comment resonates with me. The sad thing is you'll be labelled a RINO after decades of support.
I'm approaching 40 and been politically aware since my early teens. My families Indian background meant the entire extended family were culturally conservative however I got left behind after Palin and the tea party started their shouting their BS. The subtle racism towards Obama and the nonsensical response to his policies forced myself and the vast majority of my community to the middle.
Unfortunately I can never see myself and others going right due to Trump and the GOPs support for him. I'd rather vote for the local hobo.

Don't be fooled. Mid-term results probably got them soul searching a bit. I often check that sub out to see what's being shared there and what are they saying, and it was very Trumpy/MAGA. They probably fully expected a red tsunami.

All the repubs turning on Trumper is very “death eaters claiming they were being mind controlled by Voldemort”

Not quite. It takes 218 votes to become speaker (afaik). The 14 members of the nut job caucus are not supporting McCarthy because they want to squeeze him for committee concessions. Therefore it wouldn’t be inconceivable for him to negotiate with the Dems to make up the 14 seats. Likely? No. Impossible? No as well.

Yup it's a horrible place 99% of the time with many upvoted comments about "Hunter Bidens Laptop" (or claiming the attack on Pelosis husband was a false flag) etc and this is probably the first time I've really ever seen any type of self reflection on there.

Soon they will have a scapegoat (or say something was rigged) and it will be back to it's usual cesspit vibe.

McCarthy will likely have to bribe the nutjobs. Spots on committees of their choosing to harass and wreak havoc at will. Even trying to bribe and negotiate with Scalise and his backers to not challenge or support him.

So up by about 400… not as bad but also still surprising based on how these last hit of votes was expected to break
The guy who put out the positive news later corrected himself and reported that the county that was D +58 might be done counting.

In other, more uplifting news

The previous batch from the same type of vote broke D and was only a little less R in composition. Lake/Hobbs will go to the wire but if this one is anywhere close to 50/50 then Masters is cooked.
