Yep as I thought/posted about before. He is only in this for himself. With his star fading and desantis rising he has to go to war to find out where he now sits in the pecking order and how any qanon chuds he can hold on to. The only reason he's remains the defacto leader is that there is probably 20%+ of the base that would commit suicide for him in the name of MAGA. He now needs to show that he still has them in his corner and he can cause internal pain with those people

I fully expect the GOP to get behind Desantis for 2024... but I don't know if Trump will move out of the way, and I don't know what the MAGA/Q hardliners will do if he does or if he doesn't.

Unless Trump gets indicted by either Georgia or New York soon, I say Trump will run. If DeSantis wins the nomination while Trump is still free, the latter will run his own party of hardliners to basically split the Republican votes in two and deliever the presidency on a silver platter to whoever will represent the Democrats.
