Most Americans can't afford a $1000 emergency. Do people really need disaster to hit themselves personally before they wake up? Or are they propagandized to believe they deserve their fate when it does happen?
I see, its all the media's fault. People apparently have no agency.

It's not so much that they would believe that they deserved it at that point, the problem is that the Trump cult believes that they did. Woe is me, but no empathy for others basically.

Are there any other major democracies where you can become leader without having the most votes or a coalition with other candidates/parties?

Am I getting the timeline right?

Trump claims that there's mass voting fraud.
Trump orders the PG to start removing equipment.
Trump again claims that there's mass voting fraud.
Judge demands evidence.
PG "magically" decides to stop removing equipment.

Any country that has a First Past The Post (i.e., whoever gets most votes in a riding wins the entire riding) is likely to have majority governments (often single-party) that received less than 50% of all votes. So it's actually pretty common.

This guy is fox Business so careful with motives. However would anyone be shocked if this is the plan? If anyone wants to understand how Biden works, go read up on what he did to Harry Reid on the tax cuts.

Biden will drop all policy commitments progressive or "moderate" if he can get a deal with Mitch.

Its the truth honestly. Some will moan at Republicans giving speaking spots at all. But, strategically if Cindy McCain getting a prime time spot to deliver some Arizona votes to Biden its worth it. Colin Powell tonight I mean whatever....I will draw the line at a Bush getting a spot though.

I don't care what kind of lead the polls show Biden having. I think it will take MASSIVE turnout massive enthusiasm and every vote. Because it needs to be a mandate in the Senate as well to be effective even if Biden wins

Well it’s not quite like winning Florida or Texas for the Dems, but if you believe the numbers losing Arizona is game over for the GOP.

AZ is one of those states where Dems have been gaining ground of late, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Biden win it, especially with Mark Kelly crushing it against McSally at the moment. AZ could come out of this with Democratic US Senators and having voted for the Dem nominee.

Great speech from AOC. I was like WTF, she's endorsing Sanders, though she later explained that in Twitter.

I really hope that she is gonna be a president one day.

Apparently Biden got more delegates from California and Nevada and Colorado? I thought super delegates no longer mattered on the first ballot, or was that yet another Bernie-DNC negotiation masterstroke?

At this stage, who cares? That is just a formality.

bernie told his voluneers (me) that part of his successful 2016 legacy was to remove superdelegates from the Dem process. it is helpful to revaluate his 2020 promises re biden in that light.

 I thought it was a great speech precisely because she didn't link herself to Biden. At this point it's clear that Biden is not going to get enough young voters to win the election so he has to win center-right voters to bridge the gap (which he seems to be doing effectively). AOC linking herself to Biden sadly would endanger that at this moment in time.

My hope is that in the next 4-8 years, AOC can gain more of a national presence and show how the ideas she advocates for are not "radical left" ideas but are instead ones that help Americans as a whole. The GOP have defined her in a successfully negative way to the average American who has heard only a few sentences about her so the messaging has to improve for her to move up the ladder.

Ok, in that case makes sense. Would be interesting to go to the bottom of this, as far as I understood, superdelegates can vote only in the second round (if in the first round no candidate reaches the majority).

She ha given her full endorsement to Biden in Twitter, when she has the main following. Apparently this was simply a formality, someone has to second Sanders nomination (because of rules, everyone who has over some votes gets nominated) so they decided to give that 'honor' to AOC (who has been the biggest high-profile Bernie supporter).

The hope is that the US moves a bit to the left, and people see that this 'radical leftist' ideas are essentially ideas that have been implemented in Europe from center-right governments (and center-left in other countries) some time ago. If the US moves in that direction, then AOC has a really good shot at the oval office. She has both charisma and natural talent to connect with people while being clearly quite smart.

She probably should retire Gillibrand in 2024.

Ya I'm aware of that, most people won't be though as they will likely only see clips of what she actually said (if at all). In that sense, it's harder for Fox News to tie Biden to the "radical left", for which they use AOC as a danger person.

The only way the US will move to the left is if progressives improve their messaging. I think it's an absolute catastrophe that the Green New Deal is seen as a radical departure from the American way of life, to the point that Biden has adopted much of that plan without using the phrase. It's that sort of ineptitude that will help contribute to an irreversible climate crisis as they won't be able to get enough buy-in from the American public to institute meaningful change.

The libs are so much sharper politically than the Left, they know who their enemies are and what buttons to press for the public. My coworker said mainstream articles about Bernie campaigning for Hillary in 2016 were fake. She watches MSNBC and is on resistance twitter.
