It's amazing that sun_tzu has a clearer picture of the future of the US prediency than 95% of the posters on this thread, who think things are looking good medium or long-term if Biden is elected.

It all goes back to Adam Curtis point about "Do you really want change ?"

I felt that Reagan=Thatcher and Blair=Clinton, to defeat the shadow (centrism) you have to defeat the substance (conservatism), this argues it's the other way around. I'm not sure. Obama invoked Reagan, Boris didn't invoke Blair.

Please show me the 95% of posters that are Biden supporters.

No, not biden supporters, people who think something better is going to come after him, or he's the first step, or that the Left more has a seat at the table.
95% was wronh, closer to 60

I guess that's fair on Harris, but we've also seen people question Rice, make fun of Pete, and postulate on how idiotic making Warren [insert position here] will be.

I need to research more into Harris, but it seems the main criticisms are her flip-flop on healthcare during the primaries, and that she her tone as a senator doesn't match her actions as a prosecutor. I find the second one completely non-sensical, they are two different jobs, with different goals and actions. Plus I have to believe people can learn and evolve.

On M4A I agree her flip-flop flopped, and it's one of the reasons she went down so quickly in the polls. She did initially support Sanders' proposal a few years back, and I guess we'll have to now see.

She wasn't my first, or second choice, but I honestly don't think she's some strange devil like she's being portrayed either. She's eminently qualified, smart and capable.

The problem with Harris is that she’s incredibly cynical even by political standards and will do whatever is required at any given time regardless of any previously stated opinions or positions. The way she knifed Biden during the debates was beautifully done in a vicious way, and basically pure Kamala.

Kinell.
Now Harris might have to defend her right to be VP and POTUS by some feckin idiot(s?) questioning her citizenship. Twitter etc should ban outright any conversations that state falsehoods wrt to that.

I absolutely welcome people's opinions on here, or thought pieces, or journalism, but I struggle with people posting random Tweets from inconsequential people..

@Raoul are you going to take this challenge to your MO?

I imagine the people angry with him because of corona stuff weren't going to vote for him anyway.

He was touting good economy all through and now he can't. With unemployment rising, he's short of things to tout as success.

We'll probably see a spate of useless "executive orders" as he tries to paint over the turd of his presidency.

She loves to pivot. I'll give her that.

Fair enough - I've been following the odds for a couple of months, and he was actually heavy favourite back in March, big swing now.

Obviously odds don't necessarily mean it's a sure thing; Clinton was heavy favourite in 2016

Do people in US envisage that if Biden/Kamala win the election, that Obama would be the back seat president, with Biden being used as a face?

Biden's cognitive issues seem very real. Is a majority ready for Kamala to become President without winning an election?

I would love this just to see Hillary's face.

No, I don't think Obama would be back seat President. I doubt he'd even step foot in the White House except for an official portrait unveiling or other ceremonial events.

Also, when you win an election the Vice President is right there on the ticket. A lot of the legalities surrounding the VP are similar to the President. They are elected by the Electoral College on a separate ballot to the President, to their own term which starts and ends the same time as the President. I wouldn't say that a VP who ends up taking office "didn't win an election". They weren't top of the ticket but they weren't a shadow figure either.

So you've been complaining about how people are reacting to Harris and you don't even know what you are talking about. Incredible.
You literally chopped off the rest of the sentence, which articulated what I currently know, from research. That some next Trump level trolling right there.
Acknowledging I don't know everything? Seems a bit too humble for some posters.

You've clearly never thought deeply about why and how tides work.
I'm sure this is very nuanced but I'm absolutely missing the reference. I do know a fair bit about tides though. Went to the Bay of Fundy a while back, absolutely mind-blowing, feels like there's a whole county that disappears.

You are wrong, you do not understand how tides work, you can't explain them!

I suppose this is the only reason quite a few people know who David Silverman is

I don't think Obama needs to run from back as it's just be a continuation of what he did earlier.

As to Kamala, media is already noting Biden as transitionary president. Either Kamala gets it sooner or she'd be primed to go for it next election.

I get that, but someone still has to lead the thinking and take the big decisions ... and it doesn't seem that Biden will be up to it.
As a fan of Obama, I like the idea of him clocking in for 4 hours every day, telling Biden what to do. They have the relationship where it would work.
