A 78 years old president and a 79 years old VP...aiming to end 2 terms on 86 and 87 years old

One with pre dementia and the other coming from a heart attack surgery

As there is a young age limit, it should be as well a old age limit. You can't be +80 having a job as president of USA
Not sure I agree. You can be 80 years old, but really smart and energetic (Bernie Sanders, Warren Buffet, Vladimir Vapkin etc). Generally, you expect the voters to not vote for those who show problems (like Biden), but yep, it seems that doesn't happen all the time.

Am not that dialed into current democrat voting dynamics so forgive my ignorance:

If many Bernie fans are anti Biden, which choice of VP would get them to vote Biden? Surely it’s Bernie? Why is it unlikely for Biden to offer him that role?

Ditto, as the 2nd most voted democrat, surely Biden would want to create a proposition that guarantees he gets those votes? Make Bernie head of health care or the chancellor?

Surely the aim has to be to get rid of Trump, and if including Bernie in that package helps that, Biden has to go down that route?

Having said that, it’s quite crazy that USA voters are enthralled only by 3 old white men! What happened to the 45-55 age group of talent?!
There are practical concerns about age, replacing a Senator, and that major bit about committing to a woman as a running mate going against Bernie. Warren was mooted as a compromise VP candidate but she only alleviates one of those roadblocks, not to mention she’s not the progressive Bernie is and Biden was second choice for much of her voting block anyways.

Head of HHS doesn’t help here...and I don’t know what a chancellor is.

In my opinion there‘s no obvious candidate to ‘heal’ the rift with Progressives, and the Democratic Party being who they are would’ve probably stuck to the script with a safe VP pick regardless.

I believe once people have jumped through the appropriate hoops the next election ballot is going to look something like

You hate to see it.

I actually have no issue with that... It's always struck me as a but strange that genuinely knowing somebody's name and address is seen as enough evidence to vote

I would hope though that it's made very clear what people need and I would actually really have hoped they could have looked more into secure online voting

This will be a massive boost to Biden since Obama is the standard bearer of the Democratic party.

Biden will need Obama doing as many events/rallies as possible. I get the impression Obama is raring to go and cant wait to get back on the campaign trail.

with obama campaigning for a nominee who was previously in his administration there's no way the democrats could lose to trump
They should also get some pop star like Beyonce and have a massive concert to show how popular they are.

This is going to be the final Trump nail in the Obama coffin if he beats his former VP. Obama should have never done those jokes at the correspondents dinner.

As I mentioned before - this is the key to a Biden victory more than anything. Country wants to see a unity candidate and the only way Joe can convince people of that is by having folks from all sides of the democratic spectrum do rallies on his behalf. If only so he doesn't have to speak a lot himself.

If he can pick up the phone and eviscerate the entire Sanders movement in the span of one or two evenings then they guy must have some serious pull among Dem voters in the present.
Couldn't pull for Hilary for some reason?

I’d really struggle to vote for Biden. Appreciate the fact I’m not American and don’t talk politics with many day to day...

But that guy should not be running for office. He’s quickly confused, forgetful and wholly uninspiring.

I’m sure he’s a nice fella and he’s lived a wonderful life I assume. But the idea that more than half of America thinks he’s ‘The Guy’... almost as bad as tens of millions thinking the same about Trump.

Or maybe she really was that terrible?

She was fairly successful in getting votes across the country, so I wouldn't class her as terrible. She just didn't campaign in the right places, and of course wasn't helped by Comey dropping a bombshell a week before election day.

How do these endorsements work? Speaking as an outsider looking in, I've always found it weird. If there's a candidate that I don't think is running on a particularly good platform, a previous president for example, coming out and saying "Hey you guys should vote for this person. I endorse them" Isn't really something that would get me to change my mind. Unless people vote more for people rather than what they stand for? Which in itself has always seemed weird to me.

They create a perception that prominent people or outlets support a particular candidate, with the expectation that parts of the public will feel more comfortable supporting the candidate. It doesn't however always work out that way. Some endorsements just get ignored, especially ones by newspapers.

I guess I could understand what they're aiming for, I just don't see how that would make someone more comfortable supporting said candidate. Like last election, when Hilary had a bunch of celebrities coming out and saying vote for her, I wouldn't say that Beyonce saying that she's voting for this person would make me more likely to vote for them, but then maybe there are people who feel differently. There has to be, since it continues to happen.

I know many - including here--will disagree with Bernie on this but if your chosen candidate makes it clear this time and this much in advance how critical the next election that you vote for the other guy, then maybe you should listen.

Bernie fans should have come to the conclusion by now that if you want him to play a more important role in the direction of this country then you should vote to give him the opportunity to be enabled--even if it's not by means of the presidential seat. Republicans have been much smarter about this, which is why we are where we are today.

Progressives can give up hope to make any significant... Well.. Progress under another Trump term as we ll have so many loyalists appointed to the courts and other places it will take several decades to likely climb out of it. Just the Supreme Court alone should be a big enough reason.
