Tax Wall Street Gambling to Cancel All Student Debt and Pay for College for All
We can guarantee higher education as a right for all and cancel all student debt for an estimated $2.2 trillion. To pay for this, we will impose a tax of a fraction of a percent on Wall Street speculators who nearly destroyed the economy a decade ago. This Wall Street speculation tax will raise $2.4 trillion over the next ten years. It works by placing a 0.5 percent tax on stock trades – 50 cents on every $100 of stock – a 0.1 percent fee on bond trades, and a 0.005 percent fee on derivative trades.

If Wall Street can be bailed out for several trillion dollars, 45 million Americans can and will be bailed out of the $1.6 trillion burden of student loan debt and we can provide free college for all. Some 40 countries throughout the world have imposed a similar tax, including Britain, South Korea, Hong Kong, Brazil, Germany, France, Switzerland and China.

This is the answer he should have given in the interview. Again I'm not saying Bernie platform can't be done it can, just that he needed to give a better answer.

Taxing "wall street speculation" is more of a sin tax than a dependable source of revenue, and probably less reliable than those because wall street is not literally addicted to its speculation. A high volume of short term trading is done to capture very small spreads, but if you introduce a tax that is greater than the spread then the trades don't happen.

Mini Mike getting more desperate. I’ve seen two of his commercials in one commercial session. Using new hip music that the kids like.

Stock market is 3-4% down today. The only way Trump will lose is if we get into a recession. So good news for Bernie, I guess. In a recession, tagging him as socialist would hurt him much less than if the economy is blooming.

I think specifics can potentially hurt more than do good. I don’t recall Obama giving many specifics in his campaign let alone Trump.

There is also wealth Tax.
And closing loopholes for those hiding their profits overseas.
This came up in the last debate about the Republican Bloomberg.

It was mainly on coronavirus spreading to Italy over the weekend, and maybe even a bit on Bernie's own strong showing in Nevada.

COVID-19 conspiring for Bernie. Collusion!

Well, indirectly it might well be. If it spreads, for sure there is gonna be a recession, and then tagging the guy as commie while the economy is crashing and the world is burning won't hurt him as when the economy is at all-time great, while the unemployment is at all-time low.

pfft

Its from his website.

I know I have heard this though.
The main issues so far though have been Health Care and Climate Change and rightly so.
I don’t know if it’s just on my phone but the way the “gh”s are angling in this post is just *chef’s kiss* mwah!

Between now and Saturday is when the kitchen sinks will come at him.
Should he become the nominee, Trump wont even debate him.
I expect the same thing. He'll just make up some bs about how he has no time for the debates as he is working for the country and the military.

Trump will not debate anyone.

He hasn’t made a single public appearance that isn’t carefully orchestrated and vetted by his people first. He doesn’t answer to journalists.

This is remarkably light on specifics. Not the end of the world, but he will need to come up with more details if he becomes the nominee.
It is more a manifesto (to not call it a wish list) rather than a detailed plan. But as someone mentioned, Warren releasing the plan hurt her, so can understand Bernie not doing the same * .

* It is extremely hypocritical for an honest politician though.

That seems unnecessary. I'm sorry you were shown up so badly earlier in the thread but you come across cheap and bitter, and it's doing your cause no favours. The arrogant, patronising tone is at odds with your grasp (or lack there of) on the situation.
Well, thank you, but when there is a distinct mob of Bernie supporters going around the internet and yelling at everybody who doesn't agree with them, calling them out as Bernie Bros didn't seem an unforgivable act, in comparision. That term wasn't invented by me, it exists because there is a phenomenon it describes.

These people think it's ok to tell a complete stranger "we shit on you" but that doesn't make any of them non-cheap, courageous or right. It's a low-grade attempt at schoolyard bullying

I got four different Bloomberg mailers today. He is going large here.

Watch the Fireworks tomorrow.
It will be Sanders v Bloomberg. Now if any of the others back Bloomberg they will be toast because people have woken up. They despise MSM.

Here is the big advantage Bernie has.
People trust him.

EDIT:

I thought the debates were tomorrow. Its on Friday.

Trump will bring people to his base who blindly follow him. But note the novelty has worn out for a significant number of people.
That is why I believe Sanders will not only retake WI, MI and PA but also will win OH, a state Obama won twice.
The bonus I believe will be NC.

This will be a wave election that readjusts politics the way FDR did all those years ago.

I get that it's optics but that's a misleading statement. Majority of new jobs are either temp, contract, or gig economy jobs. For me alone, I haven't had a full time salaried job with benefits since 2014. Literally everything has been contract jobs since.

I know your sensitive self put me on ignore, but for the others in here, you called a complete stranger a brown-noser unprovoked. You referring to supporters as a mob and running with the narrative of Bernie Bro, an allusion to white trolls, which is a media narrative that's already been debunked. Almost everyone here can see you come in hot and aggressive out of nowhere and aren't really posting anything of quality. Also, projection is a stinky cologne.

You still need all Dems to support the policy, which currently doesn't exist. I believe only something like 15 Dem senators support M4A. Long way to go.

Senators will do as the voters tell them, if the president gets the public riled up enough. Trump showed that very clearly. Standing up and openly voting against a hugely popular policy that the new president just got elected on is not a good look for a re-election campaign.

Knew they were full of shit with the whole ‘we’ll back whoever wins!’ rhetoric. They’re going to hammer the shit out of Bernie and when he likely wins anyway he’ll go into the general damaged.

I fecking hate these establishment cnuts.
So much for staying united for the Dems. Snake, Rat, and Oligarch all having their turns talking baseless shit.

Impeachment vote comes straight to mind.

true.

The Nominee will control the party.
The entire message will change.
If Senators wont work with a popular president their future is doomed.
I also expect a lot of purges of corporate operatives.

Errr......wut?

They're more likely to if they are bombarded with calls, emails, and mail. I was told that's how the Scientology community in Clearwater, FL operate. They get their minions to spam the reps so much in order to get favorable policy for them. If Bernie is successful in leading high turnout demonstrations, we may see them fall in line. But nothing's guaranteed at this point so we'll have to wait and see.
