Id like sanders to win (to be honest id like anybody other than trump to win)- I dont think he will even get the nomination though

Thank you for your analysis.
Truth is you do not want Sanders to win.
Anyone but him to be honest.

What does Biden offer to voters that they would be running to vote for him?
He is a replica of Trump. His only message is 'get rid of Trump'.
Iowa is the type of state he should be mopping up.He got trounced.
And what is he going to offer the Rust Best States?

Trump will destroy him.

why would anybody be leaking partial results other than to help their own narrative
releasing hard data your campaign gathered (gathered prior to the shitshow coming to light) to the public and saying “this is partial but it’s what we’ve got, we aren’t saying we won but we like these numbers” as you release it is not anywhere close to this

Announcing victory in the middle of a shitstorm with no results and then walking it back the next day as oh I meant it was a moral victory. That’s without even mentioning the shadiness of Shadow. Come on, they’re not even in the same ballpark.

Thinking about it again - maybe I was too optimistic last night. The main aim with the Iowa win would have been to have a joint headline of Bernie on top and, equally important, Biden doing badly. While the 2nd thing probably happened (inital results, Bernie's numbers, and a statement from Warren all point to that), that headline will never happen because they are going to contest every vote.

He will need a blowout in NH for a good path forward. The South is still like the death star for everyone not named Biden and Steyer/Bloomberg rn.

Btw, for the electability people, Buttboy is down on H2H vs Trump. The only big candidate in that position, even Warren polls better.

South will kill a good Dem candidate in the primary and decide for the Republicans in the general. It's going to the death of us.

This guy is a clown.

btw, as inompetent as biden's ground game is, and how unpopular he is, contesting the vote like this is a great move. shows they have some ruthlessness. *the kind of dirty tactics bernie needs to learn.*

Vote for Bernie to re-enact the stalinist purges of the Democratic party.

The trouble is, its not just Democrat Politicans who need to learn how to get down in the dirt, it’s the political playing field that is tilted in the Republican favour. If a Democrat uses questionable tactics or shit talks, Fox kick up a fuss, shortly followed by the Wall Street Journal, New York Post and The Hill and then CNN, MSNBC, New York Times and the Washington Post all get on the bandwagon with guest editorials from the likes of Corey Lewandowski, George Conway, Dinesh D’Souza or Ann fecking Coulter condemning the Democrat behaviour and it resonates among the Democrat base.

i think trump showed that a lot of people just dont care what the media says - for sure this applies to anything in print, and to an extent on tv too. the only exception is the GOP base with Fox. the rules are changing.
even on the dem side this time - it's hardly like the NYT endorsement gave a big boost to warren or amy. and last time bernie got about 3 newspaper endorsements to a few hundred for hillary, but in votes they were roughly 45-55.

Friendly reminder that it took the GOP days to tabulate the votes in 08 when Santorum won, and similarly in Nevada 12 when Romney actually won in a landslide.

The process is arcane and stupid, but it’s not run on the ground by lizard people the DNC sent but by your local well intentioned middle aged and oldies whose technology blindness contributed to this clusterfeck, reporters, election junkies and representatives from every campaigns were present at precinct level and can attest to the fact that there’s a hand count and paper trail to back it up, so just stop with the conspiratorial talks.

Never ascribe to malice what ineptitude can explain, especially when it comes to bureaucracy.

the problem this time seems to be, not from the old people tabulating it, but the app itself, and that raises the level of suspicion (given who made the app and their connections).

There are accounts of people actually not knowing how to use the app, or even the new reporting rule. From what I’ve seen, it eventually broke down and most precincts turned to a hand count anyway.

Also, experts in Iowa caucus have foreseen and written about the complications these new rules may have caused.

Clusterfeck has been confirmed to be caused by a coding error in the app so not fair to blame any tech handicap of older folks.

As someone who works in software engineering and web development, there is a ton of poorly written software and security flaws. It’s insane how common it is.

if (candidate.firstName.equals(’Pete’){
candidate.delegates += 1;
}
else {
continue;
}

Wow the first time ever the caucus has failed to give results. Cue the chicken littles.

What's that? The app was developed by a pete buttchug supporter? And he paid them money just a few months ago? And their CEO was tweeting support for buttchug just a couple weeks ago? Very trumpy to complain about this massive feckup that only happens when an actual left candidate wins.
How are we not talking about this more? HUGE conflict of interest. Also, the company was founded by a Hillary campaign worker I believe.

Yea on second thought that was a bit prejudiced. Most of the current mess seems to stem from the new rules on reporting the results, and if it’s not communicated clearly or caucus chairs not sufficiently trained then the faults are on the organizers/IDP.

Well there’s your problem. They’re using a programming language that’s redundant enough to abstract a double/triple equals into its own method.

It’s as if changing the rules last minute may cause complications.

I don't know why some people seem to think this might be some kind of Buttigieg-supporting move by the DNC. There is no candidate who is hurt more by this chaos than Buttigieg. His entire campaign was essentially built on the possibility of winning Iowa and getting the increased media coverage that comes with that. If you want to be conspiratorial, at least pick Biden as the benefactor.

Oh when was it changed? I thought I read that it was pretty recent.
You are conflating it maybe with the new rule to include Bloomberg in the next debate, this new set of rules at least were there last spring (2019) so most likely they were agreed on late 2018 when they started drawing up the caucus plan, or earlier when they decided to do away with Superdelegates on first round of convention.

Which makes this all the more hilarious how incompetent they are, given the amount of time they had.
