2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

I agree with Silver's hypothesis that that there is very little chance of Dems nominating a ticket with two white blokes.

I'm certain you and I have had a conversation about VP picks before, and you said VP picks don't actually really affect the outcome. Am I misremembering?

They normally don't but then again they normally aren't chosen for that purpose. They tend to get chosen because the nominee thinks he/she can work with them and that they could become POTUS if something goes wrong. They could on the other hand be chosen for the aforementioned reasons, as well as to push the nominee over the top in a particular state. It just hasn't happened much in recent history.

Biden-Klobuchar is far too centrist. That's basically the Dems saying they will fight over the racists and xenophobes and don't need progressives to vote to win. Would be a massive strategic mistake imo.

If Biden gets the nomination they are making a mistake if they adopt the Bill O'Reilly belief that all the progressives will turn out just to vote against Turmp
Do you really think they need progressive votes to win?

I could see it from a majority vote perspective, but less so in an electoral context.

They need turnout to win. If they nominate two corporate centrists and they are basing their entire turnout on Not Trump then good luck. That's them telling me they neither need nor want my vote. I would bet all the disposable cash I had on Trump if the matchup was Trump vs. Biden+Klobuchar

He just meant he wasn’t out campaigning at the time. Bad choice of words though, a definite blunder.
It was his demeanor that stood out more for me. He looked like he want to curl up and cry. If you can’t handle a few BLM protestors, how can you handle the pressures of the job at such a crucial time in history?

Why so many Dems think a small town mayor is a fit match for the presidency is bizarre to me anyway, so I’m not surprised he’s struggling with stuff like this.

He’s young, gay, a Navy veteran, speaks multiple languages, and comes from small town America. He’s the identity politics wet dream candidate.

He’s also highly intelligent and probably a great potential future candidate. He should be running for Congress or Senate realistically though.

Is it "he's done as a serious candidate" bad?

Likely not, although he was already slowing down a bit and has been replaced as the flavor of the month by Warren. This will only reinforce that more.

Warren's plan had a cap.

He always said College education should be free for Public Colleges.

It won't even be all public colleges. Using California as an example what would probably happen would be community colleges and the Cal State system would be offered with no tuition (but there will still be other fees - probably books, dorms, food, library, etc). The UC and Cal Poly universities would likely remain unchanged with tuition (although the tuition is exponentially cheaper than comparable private universities so they are still a huge bargain).
