I wish they’d drop ‘special interests’. It sounds so neutral, disinterested, even neutered. You compare the language the GOP use vs the Dem and there’s a clear difference, much more vulgar but more effective at inciting the targeted audience.

The Republicans have spent 30 years refining their vision with emotionally appealing language for the masses. The Democrats have been conducting surface level polling and trying to craft a sanitized corporate message that ostensibly appeals to the people but really just serves the richest elites.

It’s a phrase that means nothing much to anyone. They do need to refer to things in a way that gets the message home to people.

After I told my wife about what Biden said about James Eastland, she said no way is she voting for him if he is the nominee.

So from 4 votes from my family Biden will get none if he is the nominee.

Hillary at least got one vote.
Just saw this. Genuinely disgusting from Biden.

I think he does not want to run.
Interesting concept really. Don't think anyone believes Biden is dumb so with that in mind is this all some eloborate scheme by the DNC that will likely backfire? Ironically the only way I see for the Dem voters to unite behind a candidate is by having Biden rather aggressively being ruled out as a viable option. As crazy as it may sound I wouldn't rule out there is a real possibility Biden is indeed sacrificing himself here.

Whatever the motivation, the act of praising a virulent racist should be disqualifying in itself.

Will have to check in other polls to see if it's a trend, but this one has a decently-sized gender gap for Biden - with him performing better among women.

Bernie's terrible numbers among southern blacks continue (11%), as does his outstanding showing among Hispanics (34%).

edit - Yang has 3% of under 35s, which could hurt Sanders. Look at Yang's racial breakdown!!! More loyalty than Obama got.

What are the reasons behind that? I've always been under the impression that he was popular with black people in America.

Klobuchar doing a good VP audition for Biden.

She just said "I know where those Republican votes are".

Biden-Klobuchar is far too centrist. That's basically the Dems saying they will fight over the racists and xenophobes and don't need progressives to vote to win. Would be a massive strategic mistake imo.

If Biden gets the nomination they are making a mistake if they adopt the Bill O'Reilly belief that all the progressives will turn out just to vote against Turmp

Yeah I think Biden will probably go for Harris - she has a bit of progressive in her and would check the diversity box.

What about Stacy Abrams?

Possible but less likely imo. The lack of experience issue as a governor or member of congress would come into play. At least with Harris, there is a wide amount of constant national exposure that has already been baked into her narrative. Abrams less so, since she would've been out of sight and mind for some time by next summer.

That's true but Abrams is Southerner and seems more suited to the states and demographics Biden wants to contest rather than someone whose home power base is Oakland and whose baggage comes as a prosecutor.

No.

EDIT:

Do you believe she would ensure Biden's platform includes True Progressive policies?

I do not believe it.

More than if he picked any other realistic VP he might pick (for instance Warren is a slim chance for Biden VP but no way he picks Bernie)

A VP imo has no real influence.
Its simply visuals.

In reality there would be no difference in views. So It could never be Bernie. He would not sell out. The reason he is an Independent.

I believe Warren means what she says. Because she could not persuade Biden to adopt her policies, she would not want to be seen as not being unauthentic.

In reality it will be someone like Harris. Abrahms is genuine imo.

I still do not think it will be Biden. He is a huge danger to ordinary Americans. The debates will be revealing.

Alternatively, Biden could choose Beto and make a very strong case to take Texas.

It's definitely possible. It wouldn't check the diversity box but it would give him some more cred with younger voters.
If it means getting Texas, then who care about checking the diversity box? I imagine they'd feel similarly.

Yep....Texas is going to be increasingly more important so looking at scenarios where it can go blue will definitely weigh into Biden (or whoever's) calculus.
