If you want to know who is concerned about taking votes from who then just look at who is attacking who. The bulk of the early attacks on O'Rourke are coming from Sanders and Trump supporters and not from anywhere near the political center.

Eh, I don't think that's a great way of looking at it. Candidates attacking each other might just as easily be because they're on the opposite sides of the candidate spectrum, and they want to score easy points with their potential voters by attacking the other.

What would be the point of randomly attacking other candidates who don't pose any threat to your preferred candidate. They attack each other for a reason, which is to discredit the candidate that is the greatest threat to their candidate of choice.

Once Beto articulates his policies and explains his past votes, we can get clearer idea of where he stands.

I think the trouble with Beto is that his stances on policies are going to be shaped by research data collected by his campaign. He’s run on charisma so far, he doesn’t seem to stand for anything.

I like you though :)

I agree.

The debates will be crucial. We are at a time when the voters are no longer satisfied with waiting.
They want solutions. health Care, Wages, Social Security and Education.
Climate Change will also be huge.

How do we go from now to achieving these goals.

I think Andrew Yang has a good shot of winning the democrat primaries, he seems to appeal to the right and left which will help him get a lot of votes from moderate/independent voters. Bernie would've won in 2016 had he won the primaries though and he also has a real chance. The democrats need to focus on picking their best candidate really instead of just wanting to get Trump out of office.

Still Bernie for me. But that video by Gillibrand has at least made me intrigued. Even if she is a chancer, she is at least not afraid to embrace left policies.

I just explained what the point would be. To score points with their potential base by attacking someone their base doesn't like.

beto refused to call himself a progressive. he's not taking votes from bernie
Certainly not from anyone identifying as progressive. There are still voters who are not totally for "socialism", but also don't like Trump, who may be attracted to a guy like Beto.

but they arent bernie voters
Are you sure there aren't a significant amount of voters who'd be on the fence between Bernie and Beto? There are folks who still think Beto is a progressive and would prefer him because he's younger, among other reasons.

It's kind of an aside though. I don't see Beto pulling enough voters who'd otherwise vote for Bernie to make a real difference. I'm hoping he gets found out in the debates anyway.

Actually Sanders can't win the nomination with just hardcore progressives (who are a minority in the Dem party). He will need the larger group of independents who are up for grabs to propel him across the finish line. If another candidate like Beto is gobbling up the lions share of those independents, then that's obviously problematic for Sanders.

We'll see after the debates. I reckon the working class voters in the battleground states up in the midwest are gonna want a little more than some feel good rhetoric about working together.

When Bernie explains his policies, blue Color voters and independents will understand and vote for him.

The Anti Bernie voters are Right wing independents and and Right wing Democrats who only focus on their own pockets. Those who are against Raising taxes for example or for closing loopholes for tax havens.

You're forgetting about a large swath of people who may not be inclined to vote Sanders - the Obama coalition Dems who make up a massive chunk of the party. People who voted Hillary (all 65.8m of them) aren't going to automatically get absorbed into the Sanders wing. They are going to vote for Biden, Harris, O'Rourke, and others.

Beto doesn’t need to hurt Bernie amongst the true Progressives, he needs to steal the momentum among young and engaged voters to create a groundswell of support. Something he’s already shown he’s capable of... it’s probably his biggest strength.

If the Democratic party does not support Sanders should he get the majority of the delegates, I can see that.
Its delegate count in the primaries. Bernie will get delegates across all states. With him getting black support now, he is in good shape.

Hillary voters in 2016 were not dedicated to her. They simply voted the Democratic nominee. Voters are not dedicated to vote for another moderate who does not walk the talk.

Impressive figure if it is just from grassroots donations. We need to see how many people donated and the average donation amount.

Figures lie and liars ....
So, did Beto actually raise $6.1M or is he counting the returned $4.5M from the TX Dems in that amount?

I highly doubt the tweet above is true. That kind of deception by the Beto camp would cause a bit of controversy.

All the figures for all campaigns will be officially released on 1 April so there would be no incentive to mislead on any of this.

Basically for me, anyone MSNBC and CNN seem to boost is the one to be weary of.

Don't you think its a little suspicious he isn't releasing the number of donations and average donation figures? A lot of the other contenders released the additional figures after the 24 hour period ended.

Articles like the one below may suggest why the campaign is being secretive.
