2018 US Elections

the green movement is based on ten key values

ecological wisdom
social justice
grassroots democracy
nonviolence
decentralization
community based economics
feminism
respect for diversity
personal and global responsibility
future focus

the democrats align with one or two of those policies. if you think that their values are similar to democrats or if this is just a "well republicans hate the epa" thing, you dont understand where they are coming from

Do Greens intend to run against potential DSA candidates like Ocasia-Cortez? Presumably they are more likely to align with those key values than a centrist Democrat.

If there's one thing your political system needs the most, it's a broader spectrum of choices
Agreed, but...
As long as this 2-party system stays intact there is no way of escaping the blatantly obvious corporate agenda setting.
...there’s the reality of the situation and there’s why it doesn’t matter that I agree with what you posted above.

I can sometimes understand refusing to vote for a party you don't align with out of principle but when you've got a Republican party this extreme currently, hard to view anything other than a Dem vote as a sensible one. I don't like a lot of their policies but they're clearly far less extreme than Trump's mob.

Go on the streets and protest against Trump.
Vote for the Green Party at the ballot box. :wenger:
We all would like the Dems to be more progressive but that is stupid.

Why aren't i surprise .Same people probably voted for Jill Stein and that imbecile Gary Johnson. Which could have made the difference.

Ah we're back to the "Blame the third party voters" game, I thought that had peaked when Nader (and his voters) were blamed on here for the Iraq war.

 you people are insane. even if we ignore that green party voters would never vote for a democrat. even if you give all the votes this guy got to the democrat he still would have lost!

Its astonishing how close the result is in Kansas. They still have to count the provisional ballots.

Anyone who thinks this pic is a coincidence is smoking something. Putin doesn't just randomly bump into people and get randomly seated at random tables.

Why is Putin not eating anything?

Not everyone is against Bernie Sanders, but there are warning signs for Our Revolution based on the results so far.

Democrats need to settle this issue sooner than later.

Its a sign that the Dems need to take their wins where they can get them. Whether its a progressive candidate in one district or a centrist in another - they all count towards taking back the house so the Dems would be wise to broaden their tent as widely as possible.

i dont agree with the povs in those articles. generally the left arent going to win primaries against the establishment, thats why they are the establishment. there will be more days like these than days after crowley was defeated. but the issue isnt going to be settled any time soon. theres no way for the centrists to placate the left. the movement for a living wage wouldnt be over if fightforfifteen happened tomorrow. next it would be fight for twenty. theres always going to be a struggle for progress

Certainly helps when hundreds of millions of dollars, hate talk radio, and a certain media outlet are spreading one's ideological message to the masses.

Would the tea party have accomplished much/asserted itself without the clear & dark money pouring in?

If the idea of our revolution is just to pull the party to the left, would you be ok with them continuing to be the martyrs in every election with centrists sliding towards left contesting in general elections? That's the dilemma here, if they can't win primaries, they can't compete in general elections. If they can't compete in general elections, they can't write policies. There's just no point in fighting for primaries and becoming disillusioned to vote for Harambe/Jill Stein.

i reject your premises. they can win primaries and they can win general elections (#berniewouldhavewon). they cant win them all, which i guess is a good stick for the authors of those articles to use.
