2018 US Elections

hes right and theres no reason for democrats not to make it the main national plank. people understand simple ideas like medicare for all. they support it and they will come to the polls to support it in ways that they wouldnt for obamacare, which was complicated and not helpful to most people.

Would be nice for just one Democrat to go hard on military spending and actually expose all the waste and excess designed to give arms manufacturers and contractors huge riches.

Especially given most of Trump's core hated the idea of bombing the Syrian runways and want all their troops home from Afghanistan/Iraq.

Someone should go to town on why America needs to spend $716b on defence and see how voters respond to the questions being asked.

It would be a non-starter and anyone advancing such an idea would be ostracized as soft and weak on security/defense. Since defense and domestic programs are completely different things, anti-defense advocates would be better off leaving it alone and instead promoting their domestic programs of choice instead.

That’s what everyone assumes, but it would be interesting to see someone give it a try. With a few clear charts showing the vast disparity between US military spending and the closest rival countries. It might open a few eyes, especially when put against the claims that universal healthcare is unaffordable.

Bernie's done 2 rallies for Sayed today. He is 20 points behind in the RCP polling average so its unlikely he'll win the primary.

Hoping for Whitmer and Sayed as gov/Lt gov. Though Whittmer getting a lot of cash from Blue Cross Blue Shield is disturbing...it d be nice to have a Sayed to keep her on the right path. He cannot compete with the machine behind her as it stands.

Sadly if even be somewhat ok with Calley as long as we don't get that snake of a Schuette. Just not sure how Calley would have a real shot at winning the general tho bc the far right will love Schuette and those in the middle likely won't vote for Calley by association with Snyder and by extension the Flint water crisis.

big election tonight in michigan between blue cross blue shield stooge gretchen whitmer, dog killer shri thanedar and abdul al sayed

Abdul is an impressive guy. Hope he pulls it off.

Oddly enough I just discovered a former work colleague of mine is running for Congress in MI. Small world.

Not been keeping up with these things for a while; isn't that a decent uptick for Booker?

Still a way off, obviously, but I'm sure I remember him being on like 2%?

Yeah definitely seems like he's moving up a bit in terms of being perceived as a viable option.

It'll be interesting to see how things shake up if/when anyone rules themselves out (thinking Biden).

I think its shaping up to be a Bernie v Biden race with the rest of the usual suspects like Harris, Booker, Warren quite a ways back.

High turnout being reported in Michigan. Many polling stations have run out of ballot papers.

Think Balderson will take this by a few hundred. Nearly all of O'Connor's strong county (Franklyn) is done counting and only one remaining county (Delaware) where Balderson is stronger left to count.
