What we really want to know of course.

I can see why he won't with all the attention that was on him and the hate that's come from either side. His reputation as a soft, lovable guy is gone if he votes Trump, and he gets slaughtered by Trump fans if he votes Hilary.

Corey Lewandowski saying 'CNN doesn't recognise that poll so it doesn't matter'. what the feck

 Most of them only showed up in church for weddings and funerals
Again... Christianity has nothing to do with it. Belief in a deity though is one of the basic requirements.

Back to my original point - Washington can't be put into the "possible atheist" camp. He believed in a deity.

People aren't shouting down the Trump fans in here though.

They are.

Most of the frustration comes from someone making an outlandish claim or statement about Trump, and then when they're asked to back it up they disappear[...]

That's not what happened. McUnited posted about his reasons to support Trump. A lot of people answered with snarky comments and ridicule. That's why McUnited decided to leave that discussion. Now that might have been a convenient escape route, but his reasons given are not unfounded. It's not that he was mainly confronted with respectful challenges to his position. If that were the case, I'd understand the frustration. But that wasn't the case and that's why I more understand the frustration of those who are immediately attacked because they fall out of line of the dominant political position here.

Anyway, it's close to midnight here. Good night!

Like the ones who've lived in Spain for years, rather than my housemates who've been here for a few years and one of which was previously allowed to vote in a general election? I don't see the argument.
The ones who are living abroad atm (and may return and may still have a house here) are Brits. The others are not Brits therefore it's not their decision.

Did sectarianism play out at the ballot box in the ROI? Or was it just between NI and ROI?
Down here? Na. Not in my lifetime. We do social class rather than race :p

NI, it was Irish (Catholic generally) v Unionist (Protestants, culturally British in their eyes). Although religion as ever wasn't really the issue-the Troubles grew out of a civil rights issue within the UK. (shortening that considerably).

There is of course a new identity among younger people up north of being 'Northern Irish' rather than one of the 2 traditional positions. I don't know how or if that has manifested politically though

Gotcha. Thought maybe parties had differed on religion the way ours differ on race and the like.

Have we got any lines coming out regarding the important races in the House? The degree to which the Democrats make gains there, is the quieter if more important story for everyday politics, right?

Finally a bit of panic on the machine. 300k traded in last 2 mins between 10.58 - 11pm

Clinton odds out to 1.21. Someone has figures

It's so shite. This Wolfe guy was getting all hot and bothered about about exit polls and then just bored me for five minutes about the reasons people voted. I've just finished listening to Trump's Minister of Propaganda even try to convince us that the rejection of their lawsuit was a success in their eyes. I can smell the bullshit all the way across the Atlantic.

Any recommendations for what channels I should be watching? I know Fox is good for a meltdown, CNN is shitting exit poll after exit poll out, and that's about it.

As long as its not about Britain or Northern Ireland the BBC is a good unbiased news source and a lot more professional,

So the east coast polls are closed, but people already in line can still vote, right?
Only some sites in Indiana and Kentucky have closed, another hour till the south-east closes!

Not really important because we pretty much know what's going to happen - the GOP have contrived the districts enough to all but guarantee that.

I fecking love American elections. Even if I hate lots about their system, it's always great to see the juggernaut of a presidential election come to an end.

To be honest, since we started this I've seen a few posts directed at McUnited that were unnecessarily snappy which I don't like. So I'll concede that-though I think I first said I hadn't seen those posts(Wenger!) not that they didn't exist. But, with that in mind, I've no idea if those people are people who have been criticised by Trump (for their gender, religion, race etc) so I can understand the frustration. I also understand the frustration when every Trump supporter in here does the same-however they are received. Which is why I'm suspicious of McUinted doing likely.

I can also understand simply being frustrated with a Trump supporter prima facie. People supporting his views, though they have a democratic right to, I find abhorrent.

Anyway, I have an essay to write  cheers for the discussion :)
