Two of Donald Trump’s closest former aides have ties to a firm that tried to help the Russian government spy on its own people, sources told The Post.

Former Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort and ex-“core’’ aide Rick Gates have financial links to EyeLock, which lobbied Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s government in a bid to expand the country’s domestic spying program, sources said.

The Russians wanted to use “iris-reading’’ technology in their subways to scan riders’ eyes and ferret out those on “watch lists,’’ sources said.

The company planned to help Russia hide the iris-scanning machines throughout Moscow’s stations, sources said. Just one scanner could have secretly read and collected biometric data from as many as 50 people per minute.

The company didn’t win the contract. But its ties to Trump and Putin through the two men raises troubling questions over potential conflicts of interest, critic say.

“This is quite an unusual business relationship for senior presidential campaign staff members to have with a foreign government,” a former White House official told The Post.

“It raises a lot of questions about national security and what should have been publicly disclosed to get a better handle on ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.”

Paul Ryan on the way out??

I may have been way too optimistic a week ago when I posted that it was “hard to come up with a realistic scenario that ends with Paul Ryan (R-WI) as speaker of the House of Representatives in the next Congress.”

Never mind the next Congress: It now looks like Ryan could be deposed or forced to resign this Congress in the lame duck session that begins a week after Election Day.

In other words, Ryan may no longer be speaker about four weeks from now.

I say this after hearing from several highly reliable sources that the House Freedom Caucus is seriously considering doing to Ryan what it did to former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) by threatening him with a privileged motion to vacate the chair. If a majority of the House supported the motion, Ryan would be removed immediately as speaker.

Who watches the shower of shit that is Fox News?

Never heard O'Malley speak but he speaks very well.

He was in Dublin a month or so ago. I was impressed.
I spend a lot of time in Maryland so knew of him for a while

As an English teacher, I am horrified by the way he mangles conditionals :D

Oh my! I'd hate your job. Seriously. I get so annoyed at pretty much everyone's lack of ability to speak even the most basic English. One of my pet hates is the complete failure of being able to pronounce the letter "h". Even on telly there is a SKYHD advert that says "watch SKY HEIGH DEE" and a BBC one that says about "BBC HEIGH DEE" too. FFS!

He's amazing, puts them in their place perfectly and they don't know what to do about it.
Always an entertaining watch from way back when:

As above really, and like O'Malley Jon put them in their place. Shortly after getting owned by Jon, Tucker realises what a snivelling little cnut he is and crawls off to Fox where his brand of arrogance is favourable to the audience. He is the lowest of the low really, a cocky, arrogant, up his own arse, wannabe. He and his ilk are the reason the News has got so bad. They have gone from hardcore reporters like Kate Adie to wankers and pure fannies like Tucker. I loved seeing him torn apart by Jon, and it's amusing to see him getting petulant because of it. I can't wait until Drumpf loses to see this reaction again.

'all power must be accountable' - so can I take it that Assange/Wikileaks does not view Russia or China as powers?

Sad that Wikileaks has become - or has been from the start - such a biased and rotten group.

That is a ridiculous news story in all honesty. Financial ties to a biometrics tech company who tried to win a contract with russia?
I probably do too if I look into my investment portfolio.

1. Check it out and let us know 2. You're not advising a potential president who already has murky ties to Russia (which he and his sons have discussed in interviews in tge years before the run) and doesn't need any fresh association to create new questions.

Neither are they apparently. It's clickbait journalism. With such loose associations you could fill a book with Clinton's ties to half the crooks known to man.
