I'm not sure which is the worst item. It's all ridiculous.
This is notable. For just $16.95...

Yea it was that on the advert that prompted me to click the link to the store to see what other wonderful stuff they were flogging.

Dems cut money from Florida for the senate race. That's a bit early to give up on a tight race there, isn't it? I'd have loved to see little Marco lose, especially after his 'I'll err on the side of life' line while talking about Zika virus. fecking cuntbucket wants to repeal Obamacare though, denying insurance for many because he doesn't want to give an individual mandate to the insurance companies. Err on the side of life then, you nincompoop

Question for fellow election geeks - can anyone point me to a paper or study explaining why turnout in Presidential elections is as low as it is? It always hovers in the 50s.

Is the electoral college the reason? That seems too simplistic to me...

Second video deals with voter fraud and use of shell companies to move voters across states. Either that Foval guy is getting a big pay to say these things on camera or he is pretty fried.

Bridge-stie is cutting his losses...

The election cannot come soon enough for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R).

The adviser and surrogate for Donald Trump is already trying to distance himself from the Republican nominee’s flagging bid for the presidency.

Christie, who chairs Trump’s transition team, would not give a straight answer when NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell asked him if he is “proud” of Trump’s campaign.

“The person who needs most to be concerned about the kind of campaign they’re running is the candidate. Because it’s the candidate’s campaign. It’s not my campaign,” Christie told O’Donnell in an interview that aired on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday.

The New Jersey governor went on to suggest that he and other campaign surrogates should not be held responsible for the campaign’s performance.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve said, and that’s all I can control. The rest of it I can’t control,” he concluded.

Christie has strongly condemned Trump’s boasts in 2005 about groping women without permission. He also took issue with the nominee’s handling of the political fallout, arguing that Trump should have apologized unequivocally without immediately bringing up the allegations of sexual misconduct against former President Bill Clinton.

I'm late to the party and I know feck all about politics really. But one thing I do know is that Donald Trump is a bigoted imbecile. When I heard he was running for presidency many months ago I laughed and thought it was a joke. But it's actually happening, and he has supporters. How? Can someone sum up how such an inappropriate man could potentially get elected to become president of the most powerful nation on earth? It must be dodgy, right? I refuse to believe civilisation can be so broken that many millions of people would genuinely think it's a good idea.

STK;DR*, no laws broken but plenty of tut tuts thrown around

Interestingly, I've read that entire chain of emails. He's (unsurprisingly) leaving out the part where they contrast their fundraising efforts with the Obama campaign's. Obama put restrictions on the money he raised, and was, by all accounts, heavily criticized for it. Clinton's staff discuss the pros and cons of both approaches, and recognise the need to take a decision quickly.

I thought he was a Clinton plant from the start. That's how ridiculous his running was to me. Turns out the Clintons did want him to run -- they knew they could beat him (though he wasn't a plant, obviously). So Clinton addressed Trump instead of other candidates, and, as she was the presumed candidate for the Dems, it gave an air of legitimacy to Trump being the presumed candidate for the Republicans. Trump also dominated the media cycle with crazy remark after crazy remark. Combine all of this with a significant base of angry white Republicans who hate the "establishment", and you have a perfect storm for Trump's nomination.

That's my take, anyway.

@Mockney posted a great article a few pages back explaining his appeal in rural America. Someone followed with a video on same. I'll try dig 'em up for you...

Would presumably be all over if Clinton can take Texas? NY, Cali and Texas would give her a massive lead in itself before considering all the other states she'll take too.

Feckin hell. Are the Dems pouring money in there now at the sight of that?

They are pouring something like 100k into an ad campaign in Tx. If anything, the closer number may help in downballot house races. I'd be surprised if she wins it, but lets see where the sentiment is few days after the dust settles following tomorrow's debate.

It will be over if she wins Florida. Texas would be a massive get for the Dems though, as psychologically, it would send a shot across the bow to the GOP that they would need to fight for their biggest EV state in future elections.

Problem with states like TX and GA is that Dems have infrastructural disadvantage there. Draconian voters registration law, scant polling places, limited early voting etc... There's a hard ceiling regarding the percentage of vote they can get and ads spending yields diminishing returns.

Clinton will have to win by 12 or above nationally to crack that ceiling (or lower Drumpf's number) to win TX. Her current 43/44 is pretty much like his 38-42 national number. Maxed out.

In #thatmexicanthing I trust!

On a side note, its been one of those times when there's no "pride" to be found in one's demographic, and most of the world would probably prefer that white males stay away from feelings of pride about their maleness or whiteness. But my point is that there can be no feelings of "us white men know what's right"... no, quite the contrary. The latinos, african americans, women, etc... anything but a white male, they know what's right.

Between all that and the redistricting, really makes the "rigged elections!" shite from Trump and others in the GOP extra irritating.

Blacks and Hispanics tops the poverty rate by race, by a large margin. So, do they actually know what's right for them?

If they keep voting for the same people that have ran the country to the ground on the last years, how do they expect to change those numbers some day?

vote independent or go home... that's right.

How have the current administration ran the country into the ground? That's sensationalist hyperbole.

I admire the idea of voting for an independent but at this stage it's a waste of time unless you quite genuinely think Clinton and Trump are as bad as each other. If you think Clinton's even narrowly better than him (or the way way round for fairness), there's no use in wasting your vote on an independent because they're not going to achieve anything.

If that's your goal then 2020 may be a better shot...or at least try to campaign for voting reform within the current system.

That train of thought is exactly what keeps the establishment in power time after time.

They created this "democrats" vs "republicans" TV show so people believe they have a choice, but in reality, both candidates are friends behind the scenes. The true overlords are equally satisfied with one or the other, they own them both. The rich gonna get richer, and the poor gonna get poorer. That's the only certain thing that will happen during the next 4 years.

Sound, give us a plausible path to breaking the duopoly then, especially one that doesn't risk electing The Donald.
