2016 US Presidential Elections | Trump Wins

The interesting thing is that both candidates are viewed unfavorably. It's just that Trump is viewed more unfavorably. That's exactly how I feel about this election, interesting to see it in statistical form.

Trump was polling at 75% in Arizona in July. Now Clinton is polling at 51%. Would be one of the biggest upsets in a long time -- interestingly, Arizona has only voted Democrat once since Truman, and that was for Bill Clinton in '96.

Any suggestions for why the Trump scores are so high with 18 year olds??

Angsty teens who wanted to rebel for change but are using an arsehole like Trump as their outlet. See his fans on Reddit, who almost certainly fit into this group.

I thought the donald subreddit was a parody at first. Took me by surprise when I realized it was a serious community. I see undergrads like this everyday on campus, but thankfully they are in the minority.

Me too. I think communities like that can be dangerous in that they offer these naive, often insecure people an outlet wherein they can talk to others who mask their own insecurities online, in order to create this community of people who effectively come across like self-assured bullies, when all they've really got is a hivemind community that refuses to accept any criticism of their chosen saviour, to the extent where they're a far, far more ingrained safe space than any of the ones they criticise. Kind of sad in a way.

It's sad that there's absolutely nothing you can do to make them see reason. Such reckless hate everywhere.

I just read part of the transcript of that segment by Beck. He dismantled Trump and the GOP in it!

The Vice interview is very interesting. It almost (almost) engenders a grudging respect, which feels grubby, considering he's partly responsible for this shitstorm in the first place, and still can't quite admit it. But the fact he almost does, and seems to at least tacitly acknowledge it, is kind of satisfying, in a low bar sort of way.

He diverts when faced with the big things, obviously, but he mea culpas a lot more than I would've ever expected, and that must've been hard for him. There's an element of Doomsday cultists about the Tea Party/Trumpanzees, in that all the hysterical, apocalyptic rhetoric they threw at Obama, that should logically have been defused and debunked by his failure to bring about the rapture by way of fag-loving communism, has instead just been reassigned to Hillary...In the same way a cult leader whose End Times prophecy has passed, will somehow manage to retain their followers, through a combination of delusion, fear and anxiety...

And for bucking that trend, if nothing else, he's kinda, sorta, a teensy little bit admirable....Ish....

Then you remember he was backing Ted Cruz and realise that, no, he is a complete shitbag.

I got the same vibes from that interview. You almost want to admire him at some points for his ability to examine himself and the conservative movement in an honest way... Almost.

It's like that Louis Theroux episode where he talked to paedophiles who refuse to act on their impulses...They're fundamentally messed up and dangerous. But there's a kinda weird nobility in there too...

Basically, Glenn Beck has pulled himself up to the level of a self-loathing pedo.

Yup, also too little too late. So what, he has a conscience and has some morals, wow, let's give him a medal then. I kind of agree he deserves a little credit for opposing Trump, but that's about it. He's still a despicable excuse for a man and it will take a lot more than him making sense for one interview to erase all the memories of years of bullshit and evil spouted by him and from his chalk board on Fox News. Best not to mention his radio show either.

The New Yorker did an article about exactly this lately...

Unreal speech. She could give Barrack a run for his money.

Meh - I genuinely can never get excited about any speech, especially by an American politician knowing how many speechwriters they have etc.

Oratory skills, sure, superb.
