Clinton won among men by 11%, among women by 34%, according to CNN. Sigh of relief.

I agree, but when you break it down I can see and understand many frustrations and also understand ideological differences, but also you have to take intelligence in to consideration too.

Yup and

Kayleigh Mcenany

Jeffery Lord

Kellyanne Conway

Katrina Pierson

And all the Trump surrogates...

BTW, Kellyanne Conway looks seriously ILL! Seriously tired and under severe strain too. She doesn't look good at all, and I guarantee one more scandal and she is GONE!
Mate, I seriously hope you don't take this the wrong way... but I do worry how much you seem to be invested in this. Don't mean to single you out as there's several others who practically live in this thread, but your obsession with Trump and this election is bordering on unhealthy. I don't care for Clinton at all, but for your sake I hope she smashes Trump (which she undoubtedly will).

pre-pussygate.
I'm constantly despairing that this is actually a thing and that crude hashtag like description is actually accurate. A very large minority of the American public intend to vote for a man who talks about women like that. I've found this election cycle hugely dispiriting when it comes to my view of the average American, particularly those older than thirty. I know plenty of them are good but an astonishing amount appear to be alarmingly hateful.

The women one is expected, but I think the 11% margin among men for Clinton bodes well. That's Trump's base, really (well, white men, to be specific).

 fair enough.

I don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere yet, but the first thing that crossed my mind when I heard about pussygate is that I'd be pissed if I was Jeb Bush. This tape could have helped out his presidential run tremendously. Might make for an uncomfortable family reunion.

A large numbers of voters are set in stone, despite what they tell themselves or pollsters they will go for their party candidate even if he is a literal dog; their own views will mirror the candidate's or the current media talking points.

That is a feeling I'm moving towards. It's one that makes me question my previous belief that people in the West wouldn't support a severely far-right candidate again.

Y'all need to take the CNN results with a big pinch of salt. It's a small sample, among Ohio voters said to be leaning towards Democrats slightly.

Wait till you actually see poll results in a two or three days. But I do think Clinton won the debate tonight.

I don't see the point of that article.

It's nonsense that she would intentionally go easy on Trump to prevent him from dropping out. Nobody does that and it's in the 'Can a loss be a win' Liverpool argument territory. However, she has always been a risk averse player and the calculation here could be to stay above it and attract the independents by taking the high road. It clearly works and I think will make Hillary the winner of the debate. We were baying for more entertainment and humiliation for Trump, but this approach gets more independents. After all, Tim Kaine tried and everyone declared Pence as the winner when he flat out lied just because he wasn't eager. On that count, this is a bloodbath for Trump.

Undecided and decided for a 3rd party are very different things, and it's highly dishonest of CNN to conflate the two.

The thing is she didn't take the high road. She said that's what she's going to do and then apart from 2 points there was nothing about policy from her. (He was dirtier and had only 3 moments about policy himself).
Of course, she is ahead far enough that she had to only defend this time, but I feel she could have just said something, very quietly, like, that comment makes me feel personally uncomfortable and unsafe. It's something women face too much off and is excused away as banter far too much, and I hope that you have changed since then.

Lewandowski is a fecking nut case. What a bag of dicks that man is.
He still pretends to not know the context of the 'open borders' Clinton was referring to in her paid speech was open borders for green energy to address climate change and energy needs. I feel as if EVERY media outlet wrote about it, I heard it on any English-airing news channel.
No wonder this ignorant cnut got fired by Trump. He's completely useless.

The far right has been on the rise (and elected to office) across the traditional "west" for well over a decade.

Of course, we all have different way of responding to issues. I think what she said was fine and she explicitly mentioned Michelle Obama's taking the high road. She was subdued/composed and goes a long way in the 'Who has the right temperament' question.

I'd be amazed if Clinton ever suggested that anything Trump does/says makes her feel in any way unsafe. In fact I think there's a good chance that doing so would play against her amongst some voters.

Maybe...I was looking at it as purely a women's issue.

Saying that hoping he'd change by now provides him with a way to get off the hook.

Take the inevitable Slick Willie hit but keep his tape in the spotlight. There wasn't any other viable play outside of condemnation.

Trump's strategy seemed to be to lie and avoid actually answering any questions. They need to upgrade the format of these things to stop the blatant lies. Next time Trump says "I never said that", it needs to be followed up with a video of him saying that.

It's somewhat heartbreaking that the woman we expect to be our first female 'leader of the free world' is having to temper her criticism of a man who's claimed to sexually assault women, because of her partner who has many claims of sexual misconduct made about him and who realistically she couldn't have broken away from whilst maintaining her electability.

Yup, good summary

There's nothing heartbreaking about it. Clinton daren't go into full attack mode in case it triggers Trump to do the same and although that scenario in itself wouldn't decide the election it would mean that Clintons name would be tarnished completely and in some ways make her a lame duck president. These debates are pointless - there's never much discussion on policy or manifesto's in them and then immediately once it's over the media swarm over them analysing them to death and poring over every nuance and remark and then reporting them in whatever skewed manner their political bent is leaning to.

Both these characters are reprehensible and neither of them should be anywhere near the position of POTUS but in some ways it's a indictment of American society and where the country is heading to over the next few decades.

Watching the debate again, Trump came across horribly on the Muslim question. He basically said Muslims are going to have to report bad things when they see them.

I'm not a Hilary Clinton fan but to talk about these two candidates levels of abhorrence, as if they are one and the same, is extremely biased and dangerous, in my view.

Sorry to nick one of Cenk from the Young Turks catchphrases but OF COUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURSE he didn't. He doesn't have a fecking clue about anything but himself. He doesn't listen to anyone, ever. I said he would say he wants lots of Justice Scalia's when asked the Supreme Court Judge question, simply because he's the only one he knows. He's never ever mentioned another judges name, ever! He repeats the same names when discussing generals and war heroes. Everything he says is something he has mentioned for months. He's actually worse than Palin. He's a fecking moron, and if I'm honest, I'm actually disappointed that Clinton didn't finish him off properly. Maybe that's why Bill felt the need to have numerous affairs all the time.

You have my hats off michael :D
