Per the Ohio focus group...

When Trump is emotional = passionate
When Kaine is emotional = irrational

Of course... I dunno why I'm a little dumbfounded by a group of people who are still undecided at this point.

Eric Trump is actually like Ben Stiller playing an obnoxious supercilious parody character.

Thought Pence had the better night, by a long way. Can understand people questioning whether Trump actually had a good one, though.

I think you're missing my point. He was better than Trump. That's all he had to be.
Kaine had to be better than Clinton which he wasn't.
I think Pence won this by being better than Trump as I don't think the vast majority listen to what they say.
Some cracking zingers by Kaine that will be missed by the watchers. Watchers don't always listen.

Naa, he side stepped many questions and tried to deny many things Trump actually said.

In summary, Kaine did the job tasked to him by the Clinton campaign, which was to attack Trump. Pence abandoned Trump and barely defended him. At the end of the day, I don't think this VP debate changes anything as far as actual undecided voters go.

I don't agree with you on this. Kaine today didn't have to beat Clinton's performance. He had to do what was best for Clinton Kaine ticket. He went after Trump and in effect Trump-Pence ticket. Pence was put in a very uncomfortable position of defending Trump on all he said. While he defended him manfully on some issues, he couldn't defend him on his statements and side stepped plenty of times. See Biden Ryan debate if you think Kaine was aggressive. Biden destroyed Ryan by being aggressive.

I do in the short term. Normal business will be resumed at the next debate.

I disagree. But we'll see tomorrow. Late night saying Pence won. I don't agree but I can see why they are saying it

The fact that people are saying Mike Pence won the debate, that some are saying that he came across reasonable or that he is even boring. His policies promote just as much bigotry as someone like Trump but, because he is an experienced politician he does it with less bluster.

Ignore the policies and the iodialistic.
He came across well in comparisons to trump.

I abhore all of what you have highlighted.

Totally off-subject, but this blonde pundit on CNN is incredibly smoking hot but she's such an absolute fecking cnut. Kayleigh McEnany. Google her.:mad:

For me.
Kaine won slightly
Pence will have won overall on the general public
Trump came out at evens
Hillary is still killing it.

I can't wait for the next debate. She should pick at him and then on the last one go full force in the hopes he loses it with no course for patching his madness up

Meh. Looks like I was right ditching it.

Don't think any pollster worth their salt will put out anything prior to the 2nd debate. All 6 A+ pollsters haven't done a national poll since before the first.

The Cheeto Jesus will get utterly destroyed in a town hall.

I don't think anyone cares about the vise president.

In the past, republicans were trying hard to unearth even the smallest sexual indiscretion. Now they will vote for a guy who has been married three times and has been sleeping around.

In the past, republicans were very patriotic. Now they will vote for a guy who is proud for not paying taxes and mocks an army veteran for getting captured and tortured.

And so on... the list is huge!

It is safe to assume that the republicans do not care about Pence or Kaine.

The debate wasn't about the VPs looking good. It was about making their candidate look good. And it seems, Pence didn't even bother defending Trump.

Was Kaine that bad?

From catching up, it seems like he had to play out of character as an attack dog, which doesn't sound like his style. But, he did the job he was meant to do by putting Pence on the defensive, which he failed at. #thatmexicanthingagain is the soundbite that's going to matter from this debate.

Alright, seems the spin has been pro Pence. I dont think it will help Trump anyway.

Its probably only going to help Pence himself though. Hillary has already added a page to her website called "He Literally Said That" in response to Pence's denials of things Trump said in the recent past :D
All Pence did was project calm and confidence but failed to get discussions that have been harming their campaign off the table... Kaine basically just came in to make sure the current discussions don't get reset.
From their strategies I can't decide a winner.

I'd say you don't have to worry about it, because it won't make a bit of difference anyway most likely. I'm going to watch some highlights later before making up my own mind, I've only read the reports and twitter so far. From the few clips I watched this morn, it seems like Kaine mostly did what you said but even missed a few opportunities to really stick it to him.

Would agree with that. He is using this as a stepping stone to 2020 if they lose.

Was this debate not about the guys at the top of the ticket?

It was, but he was too aggressive especially at the start and kept interrupting.
