I'm asking myself how he could become such a nutter, because honestly, he wasn't that bad a mayor. And rather reasonable.

He is getting old, it's not out of the question to suggest he could be suffering from dementia or becoming senile. I too thought he was quite sane after the 9/11 attacks, but If you think that he built his entire image and reputation around those attacks, then think that he actually said that "there were no terrorist attacks on US soil until Obama got elected" then tell me he's not ill.

Unless he's got an ego equivalent to Trump, surely he'll realise that if this is all they've got or similar to this, his smoking gun ain't going to be so smoking.

Not just that but there's growing sentiment that his material being is fed to him by Russian intelligence and/or Russian hackers, which would completely delegitimize the substance of what is being said, especially if the text is being changed by the source for maximum effect.

That does not matter though. I doubt racism is part of Trump's platform. Or in Hillary's case even if she is against trade pact now, does not mean she won't push it through as part of her presidency.

That slight against her is borne out of her non-answer to a direct question on vaccine and homeopathy -

People labelled Hillary as pro-Wall Street for giving similar responses to questions on wall street corruption.

As I said, I don't like her answer and it makes me uncomfortable...but she does say vaccines are useful, and that people may not trust them, not that they are unsafe.
Her solution to this distrust is a long-term goal, and not a bad one IMO.
My ideal candidate would start the answer by saying they are safe and effective, then say that it's unfortunate that people don't trust them, and that may be because of outside influence*. The order of her answer is wrong.
But this single issue is used to de-legitimise her whole candidacy which is a bit of a farce. (Stein's VP, for example, is quite terrible and should be the one bringing the campaign down).

*I know that FDA testing is infinitely strict but I also know that weird deals with the FDA allowed the makers of Epi-Pen to raise prices...And more than anything the appearance of corruption itself is a problem.

He was not crazy at the time. He actually did a great job in cutting down on crime in the City.

Tough to say if it's all him: crime was falling before he came to power and crime fell all over the country while he was in charge of NY.
