2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi

When's the Ski Cross? That's the main one I care about, the Ski Cross. Ski Cross is the absolute shit. When's the Ski Cross?

feck me, Ole Einar Bjørndalen.

What an absolute legend.

I think he's one of our very best athletes of all time. What say you, noggies? Any better?

Thought he'll get maybe a medal in relay, but he won a gold in the first event. Amazing athlete.

EDIT: Same number of medals now as Daehlie. 8-4-0 to Ole's 7-4-1.

Medal count after four events:

Norway - 2 / 1 / 1
Netherlands - 1 / 1 / 1
USA - 1 / 0 / 0
Sweden - 0 / 1 / 0
Canada - 0 / 0 / 1
Austira - 0 / 1 / 0
Czech Republic - 0 / 0 / 1

Nah, he's numero uno. To be that stable over so many years in such a marginal sport is completely unrivaled.

Never seen anyone as professional as him. Well deserved.

This one where they assassinate a target, ski off, then do it again? The Terrorism? Who's winning that one?

Ståle Sandbech winning at hair during the medal ceremony.

Ole Einar Bjørndalen, 40 years of age, the Ryan Giggs of Biathlon.

Now tied with another Noggie, Bjørn Dæhlie, for most gold medals in the Winter Olympics with 12. Incredible.

12 medals in total, 7 golds for Ole, 8 for ginger-bollocks.

I almost forget to breathe when I watch these guys bomb downhill. You need balls of steel to match the buns if you want to be a skier.

A bronze for Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud in the downhill skiing.

Favourite Bode Miller fecked it up by going gung-ho. A 90 % run would likely have won him the gold medal, but he's not a guy who goes 90 %.

Aksel Lund Svindal, Norway's great hope, just fell out of the top three with a fourth place finish. Slightly disappointing, I have to say, especially as Miller missed out.

Winner? 23 year old Matthias Mayer of Austria. Amazing performance from him.

feck me that course looked gruelling. 136 km/h at one point!

Awesome event.

The medal count for Norway:

2 gold medals
1 silver medal
2 bronze medals

I like Bode Miller...as you say he can do nothing but ski on the absolute limit...he's usually entertaining.

I just watched the replay of the 10k Biathlon sprint, what a great race.

That race from Bjørndalen was amazing. He's 40 years old and has no right to compete with these guys in terms of the cross country part. Winning that after missing one of the shots is such an incredible achievement.

Watched a documentary on him a couple of days ago. His whole approach to being a professional athlete is so professional, down to the smallest details. Like covering the bedroom in the hotel with plastic to avoid breathing in dust during the night.

Or refusing the great honour of carrying the banner for Norway during the opening ceremony. The reason? It would mean spending about 5 or 6 hours outside, increasing the chances of a slight flu...

That downhill course was quite extreme. Great race, and it looked like they were just catapulted off the jumps. The filiming was great as well, a bit different from ordinary FIS downhill races I thought.

Nice bronze from Jansrud, and impressive that the Austrians always find someone to win the downhill. Also nice to see Innerhofer enjoying his silver that much.

Tv2 with their commercials and mediocre winter sports competence are really putting a damper on things. Ole's sensational victory yesterday deserved better than to be accompanied by the annoying observations and mannerisms of that massive tit Bredeli.

The commentary on the BBC re Jenny Jones

Fantastic stuff

I just watched a POV cam of the run and it looks knackering. You need buns of steel to be a skier.

Loved that cam, it was easier to see how crazy the event is than the normal cams. You dont really get a good grasp of how steep and fast it is and how far they jump from the normal cameras. Some of them jump up to 60 metres ( ) through the air at the biggest drops.

Did they just buy the rights to this one, or is it a longer commitment? Here's hoping it's back to NRK next time.

Bit of a disappointing day this turned out to be. Although the competition was tough in both the 30 km and the downhill I would have hoped for a gold in both or atleast one of them. Snowboarder babe going out as well was also disappointing.

Don't worry. Biathlon babe Berger and Anders Bardal will save the day.

No idea. Hopefully just this one, the inept cnuts.
