2011 Baseball Thread

 Unreal isn't it. I guess Carlos Silva will get a go along with Noesi.

Jeter down with a calf injury, Martin stiff back. Still no sign of Jesus, I'm beginning to think they arn't believers in his ability to catch at any level even though Cervelli is useless both in defense and with the stick.

In other news I finally got a hold of Moneyball to read.

I think they make the playoffs, maybe even win the division depending on how the Sox hold up. At this point its obvious some pieces are gonna get moved around for some pitching depth and that should help. I just really want to see Montero break through to the show with the Yankees after watching him progress since he was drafted.

for the biggest sporting franchise...err after United, we do struggle to get some solid reliable pitchers. Frustrating.

It's weird because in 2009 I honestly thought we were strong with a core rotation of CC, AJ, Hughes & Pettitte. Fast forward 2 years and CC is still a beast, AJ blows hot and cold, Hughes has arm issues and Pettitte retired, add on top of that Joba never nailed down the starting job and we are left with basically one ace.

It's a really crap free agent market for the area for the next couple of years too which doesnt't help. Teams tend to ride the Yankees harder for talent in trades too so getting someone worth while is going to cost a lot. Amazing we are only 2 and half games back really because the rotation ain't shit right now.

Derek Jeter is a good guy and a 1st ballot HOF, but I gotta be honest, I wanted him to end his career short of 3000 hits.

Not to mention, prior to the start of the season, I was really hoping he and the Yankees wouldn't be able to compromise, and he would feel insulted enough to leave.

Ubaldo Jimenez trade discussions are on for the Yankees. The Rockies allegedly want Montero, Banuelos, Betances & Nova as a minimum. If Cashman can pull one of the B's out of there (Banuelos if I was choosing) then I would pull the trigger on that trade all day long.

Would be a real shame not to see Montero playing in a Yankee shirt, first real prospect I have followed since day 1 but he needs to get in the bigs now and the Yankees just don't have room for him.

Yeah I've read these rumours. Jimenez is great but he has enough question marks around him that I'd rather not trade all of Montero, Nova, Warren, Noesi, Banuelos and Betances. I would do Montero, Betances and one of Noesi/Warren/Nova nothing else. I would only do Jesus + all the killer B's + Nova for King Felix/Kershaw.

Updates from twitter SI_JonHeyman - rockies name price for ubaldo: montero, banuelos, betances & nova. nyy will do montero plus other pitchers (not those guys)

Doubt it will happen though with Cashman loves his prospects. After all he wouldn't include Nunez (I still want to know what Nunez has on Cash I still can't his potential) for Cliff Lee or Joba for Dan Haren

I decided to follow this baseball thing seeing as I'm always up at stupid o'clock with nothing else to do. I decided to follow the White Sox after Red Nev threw out the first pitch at one of their games, such a frustrating team to follow. Lost 7 in a row, then win 6 in a row. Seem to always feck it up when they get in sight of getting over .500. Lucky enough they're in a weak enough division. Feel sorry for teams like the Rays, having a perfectly good season but no hope in hell of making the play-offs.

Craig Kimbrel is ridiculous. Just matched the rookie saves record with his 40th and there's still more than 30 games to go.

REd Sox and Yankees start a series tonight. This is going to be crucial. Given the Sox recent record against the Stinkees and the fact that it is being played at Fenway, I'm looking for a sweep.

Montero went hitless but didn't look out of place in his AB's. I look forward to seeing him some more.

Good series win though, I hate the games between the two though, just so slow.

Insane oppo power that kid has, they were no cheap shots. Thing is I don't think he even caught either of them flush.

Great day anyway, Red Sox just lost to an 11 inning walk off shot.

The Rays are in far better form than the Sox right now. When you consider they lost 6-8 starters and the salary they operate on its amazing. The two guys that replace Crawford earn a combined $825k and they have better stats than Crawford this season.

Rangers can clinch tonight with a win (leading right now 5-3) and an angle loss (just getting underway). a detroit loss would be good too.

Rangers won tonight and the angels are losing 3-1 at home in the bottom of the 9th to the a's. if the angels lose the Rangers win the american league west. fingers crossed...

one out to go...

that's it. Rangers win it!

Jesus Montero is legit, its gonna be fun watching this guy for the next 15 years.

Go Yankees!

I wonder who the Yankees would prefer to get the WC slot. For rivalry purposes obviously they would love to see the Sox miss out but the Rays pitching might be a threat in the playoffs.
