What is it then when you're the Cardinals and you're down to your last strike, twice, and both times your team comes up with game tying hits?

On the flip side of that coin, it wasn't choking that caused Lance Berkman and David Freese to tie with two strikes against, and then for Freese to win game 6 with that homerun.

Give at least some credit where it's due.
 
This series really was the Cardinals' to lose, and they almost gave it up. People are spending all their time concentrating on the fact that Texas couldn't execute when it really mattered, and ignoring the fact that the Cardinals made a number of very outlandish errors (on field and in the dugout) keeping this Texas ball club in the series.

Another legendary win from one of the most historic clubs in the sport. Tonly La Russa calling it quits today, thanks for the service and what a way to go out.
 
Pujols and CJ Wilson to the Angels, Marlins spreading it all about, Yu Darvish about to be posted. Pretty good winter meetings this year.
 
Rangers won the Darvish bidding then with $51.7 million, you figure its going north of $120 million total with the contract. Thats a hell of an outlay on what is essentially a AAAA player even though his numbers are super impressive and the stuff looks good, even more so when you consider they let a proven CJ Wilson walk.
 
Yankees fans not happy about losing on Darvish, I'm not too bothered $120 is allot for someone who is unproven in MLB. I'd rather just go for 1 year deals like Oswalt or Kuroda for 2012 and save the cash for Hamels or Cain in 2013.
 
It's a high price, Yankees could have spent it but its not the end of the world.

Oswalt - Can't trust that back.
Kuroda - Best option out there I think.

I agree 2013 looks like a good bunch but you gotta figure a few will re-up. I don't want Cain and his 37% ground ball rate anywhere near Yankee Stadium though.

As long as we don't give up Montero or ManBan for nothing less than a Felix Hernandez I don't mind.
 
Ok Yankees offseason just got interesting.

First Yankees trade Montero, Noesi for Pineda and Jose Campos. I hated this when I first heard this but thinking about it's actually a great deal. We all love to see prospects do well in the majors, it's the price you have to pay for great young pitchers. Yankees must be convinced Jesus can't catch, so the deal it a young DH/5th starter type for future ace/top 100 prospect in Campos.

Second is Yankees agree deal for Kurodo on 10 Mil for 1 year. Good deal I just hope this means end of AJ. Please Cashman get rid of AJ please.

From what the rotation looked like to that inside of an hour I can't not be pleased. I really hate to see Montero go, really sucks but Pineda looks like he might be a future ace and Campos is highly rated, Kuroda is just a great add-on signing too.

Wow that was from nowhere though, as soon as I heard Montero was involved I was dissapointed but man I like Pineda and the DH spot needed to be open for the older hitters, I think Montero is likely to be a 1B/DH going forward.
 
Who's catching for the Yanks then?

Rangers are holding talks with Fielder. Not really excited about him though he's going to hit lots of homeruns wherever he ends up. He's a liability defensively and at his weight it is inevitable he'll break down at one point during his 7-10 year contract he'll get. But I can only imagine the protection he'd offer to Hamilton and Young.

And yes Darvish is going to cost quite a bit but he's going to do a Nomo not an Irabu. Should be money well spent. Might give the Rangers that bonafide staff ace they haven't had since the Kevin Brown days of the early 90s.
 
Never thought I'd see the day when Prince would be playing in a Tigers uniform; evidently, neither did Cecil.

It is sort of funny though as Prince is about to have a big pay day and evidently his father decides to reach out an olive branch...
 
Heard today no left-handed hitter has hit more than 14 homeruns at Comerica Park during a season. Analysts are saying his HR numbers are going to drop considerably in a park better suited for right-handed hitters. Quite a bit of money paid for a guy that weighs near 300lbs and is a defensive liability, though he'll end up a DH before this contract is half-way done, maybe sooner if this article has any indication. Hope it works well for the Tigers. Big coup for them. With no Martinez in the lineup he's going to be pitched around frequently.
 
I'm glad Boras doesn't do football contracts, he's a god damn juggernaut.
 
Maybe, but its not really a fair comparison. When was the last time the Tigers had a power hitting left hander? Granderson has done really well in New York in the middle of the order, but he was never used that way with the Tigers, he was a led off.

Boesch had near 10 last year at home and he didn't play the last 30 games or so and went through a dry spell of about 20 or 30 games in the beginning of the year. So, in about half a year, he hit 10 at home and he doesn't have half the talent Fielder does
 
I've decided to start following baseball from now on. Which team should I root for? Are Mets not the worst option?
 
Root for the Marlins - they need all the fans they can get, even internet fans. They used to be known as the Florida Marlins - not a shit team, just no fans.

I can think of 29 other teams better to support than the Mets. Depends if you like NL or AL baseball really.
