İlkay Gündoğan

First of all even if the reports were true they wouldn't be bad news at all. Zorc and Watzke would probably even be praised for making so much money off of Gündogan.

Secondly this was way more than your usual superficial denial. He seemed a bit pissed, called out the Paper and to a lesser extend Sky by name and pretty much labeled them unethical storytellers.

Dortmund's officials like to hold on to transfer/contract informations as much as possible, but usually they simply no-comment reports or give some cryptic answers/half truths.
Like for example when it seemed pretty obvious that Dortmund were gonna sign Tuchel Watzke went public and said that people shouldn't be so single minded about Tuchel in their speculation, that they would go with safety over tempo and that he didn't know who was going to replace Klopp in the summer.
Was he denying that a deal was done, or was he refuting that Gundogan would go to United in particular?

It reminds me a bit of that Vidal video from last summer when he was at the airport and the journo asked if he was joining us.

This isn't happening.

let me summarize

"there is no signature"
"tehre is no contract"
"there is no offer"
"there hasn't even been talks about it"
"the last time I had contact to United was last year's november in an entirely different matter"

Interesting. Wonder what that would have been about

It's really getting harder to know what to believe out there. I suppose if the BBC are not running with the story. It is not happening.

Zorc is by far the quietest of Dortmund's "triumvirate".

My word he ran the show that day.

Watching a video purely of his touches like that, the similarities to Carrick really stand out.

Namely the quick, decisive, cutting balls between the lines. Often with his first touch and also he regularly positions the ball to where he wants the receiving player to move to. Composure under pressure. Great, reliable first touch. Strong passing range.

The signing would make a lot of sense considering all these attributes that lend himself to the holding role, combined with his versatility at other roles in the midfield 3.

This is not off. It's just not being announced right before a game, would be shocked if we don't sign him.

I've just remembered Didn't Sky sources last year say that Benatia was on his way to manchester when in fact he was on his way to Munich?

My muppetry has just taken a huge plunge down.

If Gundogan's representatives have been told they can talk to suitors, that might be what's going on. Personal terms could have been agreed with United and all that's required is for us to put in a halfway decent bid to Dortmund.

I wouldn't be surprised if United have already been told what the asking price would be. We probably don't want to put it through official channels until we have to.

Does he have any sort of buyout clause, or just a fee Dortmund have in mind that they'll accept as he's going into his final year?

big difference is that Sky wre the only one reporting it and breaking the news to us. Apparently Benatia changed his mind.

Here Der Westen broke the story. If i remember correctly, Bild said we wanted Hummels and Gündogan a week ago or something like that. After Der Westen, Sky Sport Germany said the deal was done. They still report it like that on their News Channel. Sky Uk has nothing to do with this one.

Damn, there is some really impressive stuff there. If this guy can replicate that form for us at all, £22m is a bargain.

This was on page 28 when I checked during the Saints-Spurs game. Has anything important happened or just 5 pages of celebrations?

We've gone from being very excited about the possibility of signing Depay and Gundogan to now thinking of losing Depay to Liverpool and that Sky Sports failed big time like Benatia and Hazard.

Lets not forget! Sky Sports News have been all over the place when it comes to us.

Martinez got injured (i think for the season), so Bayern had to buy a CB & Benatia was their man.

The "Sky Sources - Benatia to United" story, seemed to be on the money. Roma sold him the next day or so - supposedly after Benatia changed his mind to go to Bayern instead..

Well he was basically set on signing for us until Robben missed that pen against Chelsea in the champions league final. Think he would have been ours if they didn't win the CL.

Us all watching that night on a crappy french stream is probably one of the weirdest moments on the caf. Like we expected him to announce his new club there and then but that was left to twitter.

 while it was all silly, those were good times. Remember some fella on here watch some Chilean stream when Vidal was doing some interview

I think it must have been down to just money. It would be a bit crazy for him to decide his future on what happens during a penalty shoot out even though it got them into Europe. I think I read it was something about United not being prepared to give his agent loads of money.
