It's a crying shame Dortmund didn't win the CL that year. Would have been one of those romantic moments in football. Wonderful team they were that season. I miss them.

But yeah, Gundogan was brilliant that game (as well as Hummels I believe). Would have been some goal had he scored that chance at 3:30
his finishing has always been kinda shambolic. it's clearly not one of his noteable skills, to phrase it more politely.

Any doctors or knowledgeable people know about the spinal compression condition he has/had? Is it likely to come back or would the operation have sorted it?

If I actually knew what condition he had, I could have a crack at it - but due to the obscurity of it after a quick run through google, I can't tell what he suffered from. So many chronic back conditions.

Edit: OK, it sounds as if he has Spondylolisthesis going by what some Dortmund fans have been saying. The prognosis/severity of it really depends on what actually caused it, as it could be secondary to another bone condition, like athritis, or it could have been caused by a simple fracture. Admittedly, I'm not big on such orthopaedic/rheumatological conditions such as this - it's quite rare, apparently more common in kids. But it sounds as if Gundogan must have had quite a severe type due to needing surgery.

The fact he's playing again, and doesn't seem to have suffered a relapse since his surgery (a quick read about the surgery itself, it's quite intense - some don't actually help the condition at all, in fact may even make the symptoms worse), is a good sign.

I think for £22m he doesn't have to score a lot of goals, he just has to be efficient everywhere else.

If he's going to move in the summer there's no point leaving him out deliberately.

He might as well play the last few games and say his goodbyes.

- 90% are happy that he goes for that possible price.
- They had always the feeling that Dortmund was just a stepping stone to a bigger club for Gündogan therefore they don't really care about him.
- They don't think he's the right player for Premier League football.
.

Hmmm...that hardly sounds like a great endorsement.

Having been pretty excited last night, reading some posts on Dortmund forums and the opinions of our resident BVB fans on here....I'm starting to think this is a bad idea. Just seems like a massive, and unnecessary, risk to take. If it doesn't work out then we're going to be left with the same midfield issues we have now (i.e lack of balance and Rooney in midfield when the injuries mount up). I can only hope we're going to sign two midfielders this Summer, which will reduce the risk of the Gundogan transfer.

Weren't we interested in Gundogan before he joined Dortmund? Wonder does that effect his decision, assuming we're not the only club in for him.

That was the condition he was rumoured to have, although I seem to recall the player himself emphatically denying this was the case, in interviews with the German press at the time.

Edit - Seems it was with Bild:

At more than one point there have even been claims in Germany that these injuries could threaten Gundogan's career, something which he was eager to tell Bild was rubbish "A Clear No! I also have no spondylolisthesis, as I have had to read again and again. It is a nerve root inflammation. The complaints can't be turned off like a TV, but they are treatable. Inflammation occurs, and inflammation disappears."'

Sore throat. From shouting GET IN all night after that article popped up on sky sports.

This what it is all about, you get high off some positive news and then the negative bitch slap report is just round the corner. This is the emotional muppet rollercoaster.

Loving every second. Muppet season has started early this year.

Tbf if United United are really talking with Gundogan it probably makes sense to sort it out with him first and then move on to the club.

Of course we may all have just muppeted over a completely nothing story

The main rumour in Germany was that he was born with Spondylolisthesis.

Noo.. GundogOFF. :(

The reliable Ruhr Nachrichten are saying the same thing.

Didn't some Dortmund journalist say Dortmund always firmly deny any transfer rumors?

Doesn't mean we haven't spoke to him or his agent!

What do people expect CEO's to say in this sort of situation? Yeah, he's off, he doesn't want to be here and we're happy to take £22 million for him.
