Ángel Di María | Transferred to PSG

There's a lot of bitter and angry people in here lately. It didn't work out, no one owes anyone anything, he was only here for less than a year. It's not like we're losing a Ronaldo all over again.

I just want this deal to be done. I'm tired of reading about it and it's not exactly good for our preseason preparation.

Don't read the thread then .

Some of these figure are making us look incredible weak in the transfer market. From what is being reported, Di Maria is going to be getting 200k after tax., Yet we are selling him at a 16m loss.. We should be getting back all what we paid from these feckers. Just because he has not settled and has gone AWOL should not reduce his value, plus the fact PSG were going to match the same price last year for him had it not been for FFP. Di Maria is going to be their star player, he will tear up the French league.

Annoys me how crap we are at selling players, just because we have a massive revenue, its easy to take these 'hits'.

Di Maria refusing to join our squad absolutely does reduce his value. He wont play and train with us, of course that makes him less valuable than someone acting like a professional. Under such circumstances we will do well to not make a bigger loss. Contrast with De Gea who also wants to move but is handling things like a pro, there we can reject low bids and keep him for a year if we don't get a big fee.

Utd fans are well within their rights to be bitter and angry at him.

He quite blatantly did not give a feck last season, he was rotten from about October onwards. His cameo against West Brom was disgraceful and then the same against Hull on the final day when he was desperate to come off asap. Falcao was awful but at least he was trying, Di Maria didn't give a shit.

If he'd wanted to be here it would be a big loss this, but the Di Maria in a red shirt we saw last season won't be a loss at all.

Di Maria refusing to join our squad absolutely does reduce his value. He is refusing to play and train with us, if he was being a professional about wanting to move (like De Gea) then maybe we could expect to get more of our money back.

Could we just keep fining him?

We don't even know why he didn't join up. Maybe he's still injured and talks were in the advanced stages, so there was no point in him joining up?

That seems like an odd thing to assume. Van Gaal was clear that Di Maria was expected to join the squad and that he hasn't and that he hasn't given a reason for his absence.

It's naive to assume we don't know why he didn't join up. What if we told him that we're not selling him, then what would he do? I highly doubt he go on strike for three years. Like I said, we most likely know why he didn't join up; and, as some have said before, to avoid making a mountain out of a mole hill, van Gaal has addressed the questions with regards to di Maria in the most appropriate manner.

This doesn't make any sense.

If, as you are assuming, he didn't join the squad because he was injured or because the deal was practically done then why didn't Van Gaal just say either of those things when he was asked? That's just answering a simple question with a simple answer, no issue at all. Instead he said that he didn't know why Di Maria hadn't joined the squad and that he doesn't know where he is. That's the kind of answer that creates mountains out of mole hills.

I also don't understand why you are assuming Van Gaal is lying. He's been very open and honest when dealing with the press so far. Few managers would have called out their £30m new signing as being unfit as he did with Shaw last summer, or have been as blunt as to say that he wants to get rid of Valdes because he refused to play for the under-21s this year. There's no reason why the situation with Di Maria would be any different.

His value fell because he was cack last season. I'm amazed we're getting as much as is being reported.

But that does not take away from his quality, he was voted Argentinean player of the year the year before. If he was going to another English team, than yes, maybe his value should be less as the maybe not be suited to the league but he is going to France, to the richest club in the world.

So, you're telling me that an organisation as big as Manchester United have no clue about the whereabouts of one of their employees? I really find that hard to believe, and if you do, then you're being really, really naive.

Saying "I don't know where he is" avoids having to answer several questions regarding a possible move to PSG. Maybe he's been instructed to not reveal anything to the media until the deal is done and dusted.

I don't agree with that, didn't stop us spunking 16m on Rojo. If anything, his behavior increased his value, as we were still willing to pursue after acting a twat

Out of interest Who decides that?

Surely messi would win it year after year. Is it based on club or country form or both

I agree 100%.
I think we know exactly where he is and Di Maria and management decided its best that he sit tight in South America for a few more days until his future is decided.

Can you imagine negotiating with PSG:
MUFC: so how much money will you pay for Di Maria
PSG: Erm, we have read reports that you dont know where he is?
MUFC: this is correct, we have no idea. He does not answer his phone and we have no idea what is going on.
PSG: So, is he alive?
MUFC: we have no idea.
PSG: well until you confirm that he is alive and well and fit to play in the forthcoming season, we cannot make any deals.

Basically, if an organization is selling an asset, the buyer needs to know that the asset is in good condition and is as advertised.
What if Di Maria is dead or injured in a fight? Then what?

And LVG, the control freak that he is, will 100% be on top of the Di Maria situation. He is behaving like he doesnt know anything, yet this is the guy who has absolute control over his players.

I think its ludicrous that anybody believes, that LVG or our club, does not know where Di Maria is.

You do realise that PSG are in touch with both him and his agent directly right?

I wouldn't be surprised if he's being hidden by a bunch of Maquisards in Paris as we speak, just waiting for us to declare it so he magically shows up all smiles in their blue kit.

Exactly, you think that the moment we found out that di Maria and Rojo hadn't arrived on tour, we immediately thought "feck it, can't really be arsed to find out where di Maria is"?

I'm sure LvG was fuming at the fact that he hadn't arrived and had everyone working non-stop till we found out why the hell he didn't turn; unless we were already aware he wasn't coming due to his imminent departure

Yes if Van Gaal says he doesn't know where Di Maria is and doesn't know why he hasn't joined the squad then I believe him. Since joining United he has been very open and honest in dealing with the press and I see no reason why he would lie. If he didn't want to answer questions on Di Maria or a move to PSG then he would just say that he doesn't want to answer questions on that subject, by saying what he did he actually invited more questions.

None of what I have posted is naive, I just don't have much time for baseless conspiracy theories.

It's far from a conspiracy theory. Not knowing where one of our employees doesn't bode well for the club. Do you not think that the moment we realised he hadn't arrived, we didn't try to find out where the hell he was?

Everything you're posting displays naivety. Unless he has been kidnapped, I'm 100% certain we know where is and have done since the 25th.

How and why would we sanction a move without knowing where the feck the player is?

Yeah PSG, £44.2 million sounds great...

Oh, good luck trying to find him, we don't know where the feck he is.

HAHA... thanks for the money, suckers!

Maybe he isnt answering his phone.

If that's the case, we probably would have had reported this to authorities.

For all we know, he could have been kidnapped or even dead.

I mean we are paying him £200,000 a week, I'm sure we would have been slightly concerned about his whereabouts?

It's textbook conspiracy theory nonsense. The authorities (Van Gaal, United) are lying! The press are being manipulated! Other people (me) are just naive sheep who need your keen insight to shows us what's real going on!

Yes I think United tried to find out where he is, maybe they have done so by now. The first time Van Gaal said he didn't know where he was was the same day Di Maria was due to join the squad. He was in Argentina, Van Gaal was in America, Woodward was either in America or back in Manchester, they are a football team not the CIA, it's totally reasonable they wouldn't know his exact location, especially if he was trying to avoid contact with them.

Of course that wouldn't stop United and PSG negotiating a sale. It's you who is being naive if you think discussions between the two clubs have literally just started in the last week.
