How much did we actually pay for ADM? I know the total was £59.7m but was that straight up cash or depending on Bonus payments if targets are met by the player? Seems the money being offered to us might not be so bad if Real Madrid lose out on a few £££ themselves.

I'm sure we paid £59.7m and then there were to be addons to make the price slightly higher than £60m.

Really starting to get pissed off with our utter shiteness at selling players! We're like a charity shop! Look at Chelsea selling Felipe Luis and only making a 500k lose!

On his day one of the world's best players, he's probably going to be brilliant in Paris. So little heart or courage though.

My everlasting image of him at United will be him on his arse complaining to a ref after he's been physically dispossessed time and time again. Makes you appreciate players like Ronaldo, Messi and Bale that much more.

I was waiting for someone to say this. It has been said in older post but I do think he was impacted by that and so was his family. The over the top vitriol on this player is to much. It's a game and he he thinks that life will be better in France for him and his family then let's part ways with him and to it with class.

A friend of mine was burgled, and he used to tell me that he found it very hard going back home knowing that his families privacy had been invaded.

I think people are severely underestimating the impact that incident had on his family.

If we do end up selling him after just 1 season I'll be disappointed with us as a club just as much as I'll be disappointed with him.
Why the club? We bought a world class player at the time and it showed intent. Just because Di Maria wants to leave and be a pussy about everything has nothing to do with the club at all.

I think it's very clear that he wanted to go to PSG all along.

It's a joke. PSG are clearly desperate to sign him yet we're selling him at a significant loss. He might want to leave but he's under contract and he's one of the best players in the world, we should be getting our money back on him.

I doubt we are that keen on selling him, but at the same time, since he wants out anyway we are probably looking at it as a chance to make most of our money back.

What would you suggest as an alternative, assuming he's wanted out since shortly after he arrived, and didn't exactly set the world alight.

Better to take a £15m hit now than a £40m hit next year IMO.

No he's not.

45m is about as much as we could hope for.

It's not about France, it's about hundreds of thousands of people who fought in the resistance, who supported the armies and protected jews, French laugh about everything but here it's a stupid statement that is widely used on the internet.
This.

As I have German and French relatives I always get a kick out when we hear who the French are basically pussys and cowards related to ww2 for internet trolls who never defended anything in there life. somehow saying that makes the poster better then French people who lived in that time already dealing with the aftermath of the deadliest war 20'years before. Adm is one person who has faults like all of us and it football not war ffs

100%

When went in easy on this one which makes me think LVG was happy to see him go. Compare this to how difficult we are making for madrid in regards to de gea ?

Bullshit, what it is though is the perfect excuse.

Agree with the above posters. PSG are so desperate to get him, they have the money, di Maria (reportedly) wants out, we (seemingly) don't want to sell. Why on earth would we accept the (rumoured) amount?

He wasn't burgled though. Does anyone know the extent of the 'attempt'?

I think, and have all along, that that was mainly a smoke screen to take the pressure off when his form fell off so dramatically after a half decent start.

Don't want to get into the deep stuff, but they are two very different things...

Both adversity, sure. But losing a mother who has likely supported you and been there for you as you developed into a great footballer is much more something that is likely to galvanise you - "doing it for her" type of situation. Burglary is very different.

Anyway like I said rather not get into it.

In principle I agree that regardless of burglary, the attitude just wasn't there and that particularly disappoints me more than anything.

Very different scenarios though. Feeling safe and mourning are two very different things but I get where you're coming from. I wouldn't be surprised if adm's wife insisted on this move to psg.

I didn't add this at first but you guys do know that Lampard was burgled around the same time his mum died? maybe a week or 2 apart.

Many footballers have been burgled in the last decade or so. Like I said, people deal with it differently.

If we get rid of Di Maria for 90% of his fee and get Pedro in for £22 million it's good business. We get rid of an inconsistent player who tends to give the ball away cheaply and instead get an effective, efficient player who will suit our system perfectly.

For what it's worth I don't think LVG would have had a problem taking the shackles of Di Maria and giving him a free-ish role if the end product was there but it isn't. We are trying to play controlled football and that really doesn't suit a player who gives the ball away as much as Di Maria. He would have been good in a Fergie team but still not even close to a Ronaldo, obviously not got the strength of character or belief to reach those levels.

I also am not totally surprised by all this. Ok I didn't expect him to leave after a year but my worry with Di Maria was always even since being at Benfica when played on the wing he is inconsistent, can produce moments of magic but equally frustrating at times. Too much of a luxury to be in our Central midfield. Just basically a more expensive version of Nani.

Good riddance.

I don't know why people are moaning about the price.

We overpaid for him by a good 25m. Following that he's had a season where he's mostly been shite and found himself out of favour. And the player himself wants to leave. We should count ourselves lucky that we're getting 45 and run away with it.

It really doesnt make sense. We should have learned from Madrid last year and dragged this out for as long as we can to squeeze money out of them. The price has barely shifted from the £45m pounds I heard from the get go.

We got burgled when I was at high school which is over 20 years ago and I can tell you it effects you very much and although I've moved out of that house it still effects me to this day!

"A number of offenders tried to gain access to the property by trying to smash the back door."

"The alarm was raised before the men got inside and they fled the scene."

Still would be quite frightening to have a number of men attempting to break down your back door?

The burglary happening in February, his form dropped off after his sending off. It was more to do with confidence and lack of game time than the attempted burglary incident.

Look at the difference with the way Chelsea sell their players. Lucky is getting 55, 45 is the minimum we should get from this deal.

His form definitely went before then. Never recovered from his injury around about November time.

I don't know what the big deal is, there are always going to be transfers that don't work out for either or both parties.

It's no great surprise to me that he couldn't settle, isn't the first and won't be the last South American to find it difficult.

Yes we should be looking at more money for him, but on the flip side we need to get him moved on and a replacement in as soon as possible if he really wants to go.

We need to think of the bigger picture rather than this as an individual transfer.

I feel you, dude. My friends and I were once confronted by a large group of teenagers (around my age), whilst out at night; it was a pretty rough experience and they took some of our belongings. Since the incident, I haven't visited that area and may never do.

Happened to me once, and yes it was frightening but it was forgotten a few days later. It didn't stop me working nor did I make it an excuse for slacking. Nah, its nowt to do with the burglary, he didnt want to be at United from the very beginning.

What a flop though.

Yep I don't doubt it.

I do doubt my employers would see it as a valid excuse for not being able to do my job 6 months later though.

Totally agree. We got burgled and my wife wouldn't stay in the house. We sold and then bought an apartment on the 10th floor. Different people react differently. Even the move to the USA it was made clear get a condo not a house.
