Álvaro Morata | Performances

This is going to be one of those threads that gets bumped every single time a player scores a goal or does something remotely decent. Happens with the Welbeck thread too.

I'm still grateful that Pogba returned to us. His thread spent 4 years getting bumped every time he breathed.

Not sure Lukaku could have made that assist.

Fantastic cameo today, Batshuayi could learn a thing or two from him.

He'll be in the mix with Aguero, Kane, and Lewandowski by the end of this league season.

Morata and Lacazette off the mark in the league. Hopefully Lukaku fills his boots tomorrow.

Morata is a well more rounded footballer and I don't get why people say he isn't a goal scorer. All the way from the first time I've seen him in that under 21's tournament he has scored goals. I'd expect him to be around 20 goals by the end of the season.

See Rooney also scored. Kane and Lukaku to respond as well as Aguero or Jesus

Not going to lie, he is the real deal. That assist was sublime. Great diving header for the goal too.

And that's not counting the two other chances where he was slightly off. Great debut given the 10 and 9 man disadvantage.

I don't understand people being happy for Morata because he's gotten a bit of stick? No fans of any other club showed any mercy to Pogba...

Don't get me wrong he's a top player, and we should recognise that. Good performance today off the bench and inspired Chelsea's comeback.

They should be pretty even in terms of goals.
I can't see it being even. Lukaku will be the focal point of our attack, and providing he is as consistent as he has been over the last few years, I can see him out scoring Morata.

I think Morata is the better player, but in terms of goal scoring he'll fall short in the long run.

He looked up for it. And did quite well but Burnley were completely shitting the bed by then. It will be interesting to see him start.

Who?

People are just feeling vindicated after they are told by the Caf PL experts that Morata will flop in this league. He is clearly a talented, well rounded footballer and will score goals if given the chance, that's fact, not fanboyism.

I don't know why our fans are so obsessed with him. Seems a nice lad. Let us stop with this obsession.

Have The Caf's Morata fanboys got blow dolls with a print off morata's face glued on?...This love in is fecking weird!

First of all, that's not true. Secondly, why should I model my actions after others?

I think Morata is slightly better than Lukaku. Not only do last year's numbers in terms of goals per game bear that out, but the numbers were accrued whilst Morata was largely a sub. Give him a whole year as the main starter and he will be become one of the world's elite strikers. 35-40 goals should be his target.

The PL fixtures thread is too long to trawl through the comments, but here's a couple from the last couple of pages:

Pleased for Morata. He has been getting some shit of United fans. So hope he does well, as long as United do even better.

What a start for Morata. Happy for the lad, but hope he doesn't play well against us:D He should be starting their next match imo

Pogba got stick left, right and centre last season. I don't think there's been a more criticized player in recent memory.

Also you have the right to act however you wish. I didn't say you can't, I just don't understand it that's all. I'm not saying you have to wish him to be bad, but I don't understand wanting him to excel because he's gotten 'stick' off a few fans.

What exactly are you suggesting ? That we all ignore reality and simply slag Morata off because he didn't sign for us ?
What? No one has to slag him off! *Edit. There is a cult following on here ever since he was linked with us. Others here think it's over the top and a bit strange too.
