It was the Spanish press tbh, morata returning from honeymoon early, dying his hair red, agent meeting perez umpteenth time to tell them that he wants to leave and all bla bla. When Dimarzio comes out like this, generally it means it will go through.
Di Marzio has been very spotty recently. He's not as rock solid reliable like he used to be.

Hes not saying the deal is done tbh, but yes I agree.

agree there. Weird how Marca aren't all over the Danilo news as theyre Madrid's paper so to speak. Mouthpiece etc

We don't know that yet. He hasn't played in the CL, Morata has for two top clubs. Lukaku is going to have to produce there. If we go out in the group stages we will look right mugs. Morata will have great players round him, I still think we need more quality in our team, otherwise we will just be the same team with someone who can score against the little teams, but without Ibra for the goals in the big games. Rashford and Mhki have looked good, still not entirely sure about Martial.

Will be great if we can hijack Chelsea again! Offer him the historic no.7! Lukaku with Morata, Mkhi, Martial,Rashford and Mata buzzing around are great options to have. In fact, I rather get him than Sanchez.

He reports interest, whether the deal eventually goes through or not had nothing to do with him. Don't think he's got anything wrong atleast regarding us, not sure about other clubs.

If we do sign him, I wonder if he'll play as an outright #9 on his own directly replacing Costa or if we'll ch age our formation and play multiple strikers like Conte did at Juventus.

Real won't let that happen though, they hate us and the feeling is mutual.

Morata scores goals. 1 goal per game last season.
That was for a top Real side. Not saying he's not quality, I actually would have loved to see him at OT, but we cant predict how he or Lukaku will do next season based on past performances

He's everybody's second choice for a reason.
Now might be his chance to show how good he is. It is there, just that Real had Ronaldo and Ronaldo wanted Benzema and what Ronaldo says goes. Up to now Lukaku has played for Everton and WBA. This is as big a step up for him, in fact maybe a bit more as Chelsea are capable of getting goals from elsewhere. We were just about impotent.

If Lukaku can hit the ground running it will help him. If it takes time for him to settle it might get awkward. I would be worried if Chicharito comes back to haunt us in that first game of the season.

He would have been fantastic for us as we were in need of a leading Striker, but I don't necessarily think he's an upgrade on Costa for Chelsea. Other than the whole not being an arsehole thing, which I guess could be a big part of it.

I think conte is aiming to move to 3-5-2 so it will be either hazard/Pedro/Willian supporting either Batshuayi/Morata that also enables us to have Baka, Kante & Fab in the middle.

He is a downgrade of Costa so no worries..
Real can accept 50m for all I care.. We got our man..

Well players around him need to step up as well. I would have liked Morata here but at the same time it was always on the hope he would improve on his skill set. I'm not worried about him at Chelsea he is no threat like Diego Costa and I'm sure Chelsea fans will be feeling the same.

Not a whole raft of strikers are an upgrade on Costa to be honest. Certainly no one in the prem besides Aguero

According to Marca price is same. 80 Million euros plus addons.

Morata will not be the difference between us going out in the group stages or not.

I was really in the Morata over Lukaku camp in the summer. However, i am now happy we got Lukaku instead. I am sure Morata will be a good signing for wherever he goes but he would have been another 'nice-guy' Spanish player and we need some metal in the team and players that won't get pushed around.

That's not Lukaku, one of the biggest criticisms of him is that he's soft and doesn't utilize his size advantage well enough, he prefers running in behind than bullying CB's.

No probably not, but I don't think Lukaku will make much difference either if we don't strengthen more and the other players don't pick their game up from last season. The lack of goals was our achilles heel, he will not change that as he will get the goals Ibra got. The rest need to step up. I would have preferred us going hell for leather and getting two strikers. I can still see us being set up cautiously.

Lukaku isn't a hard man. He is big but as you say he needs to develop a nasty side. Other teams love to stop United and will soon make sure he cannot get in behind, so he will need to be able to fight for his goals as well. There has to be a Plan B style with us or we will have the same problems.

I think Chelsea have upgraded on Costa if it's true, their team will feel fresh with him and Bakayoko. There's plenty of other reasons why Chelsea were abysmal in 15/16 but one of them was not adding any significant new signings and while they're not world beaters on paper, Chelsea's business so far would suggest they're not making that mistake again.

He's going to be a good signing for them. Him with Hazard and Pedro will be a very dynamic attack with a lot of position interchanging and he'll suits Conte perfectly. Chelsea will be remain a very strong candidate for the title next season.

Keep in mind that most of these strikers that finish their seasons with higher goal totals than Costa also take pens. Kane, Aguero, Sanchez are all their clubs primary penalty taker. Costa didn't for us or his totals would be higher.

Agree it makes no sense what so ever that Chelsea did what they did to Costa after those 15 points he secured them last season.

old cliche but a goal is a goal, penalty or not. However i agree that 52 goals in like 89 league games without pens is quite an achievement

Yeah, Di Marzio has great contacts and relationships but he says what he's told, he doesn't have bugging devices planted all over European clubs. Sometimes, what he's told is not true for whatever reason.

Oh yeah, I'm not discounting pens. Just pointing out that players like Kane, Aguero, and Sanchez will inflate their tallies by scoring them. I actually can't recall if Diego ever took one for us in 3 seasons. If we're talking goals from open play Costa has an exceptional goals to game ratio.

he's obviously a very good player, just don't rate him as highly as some on here seem too, he's not anywhere near Kane IMO, and Lukaku also didn't take penalties for Everton and ended up with 11 more goals and In a far inferior team.

Key player for 2 title winning sides scoring 20 PL goals each time. His goals directly contributed to more points won than any other striker last season. If he wasn't a head case last season and didn't get nagging injuries in our last title winning season he'd have been even better. Don't know what there is not to rate. When on form I think the only striker that's better in England is Aguero.

Anyways, Morata will be a completely different sort of striker than we've been used to. Should be interesting watching Hazard playing with a striker who's actually very skilled. Good as Diego is, he's clumsy with the ball. Morata is miles better technically.

Really awful news if true .....it was a massive mistake not to have signed him
